Jumping into the series, Kymberlee Porter has brought her trademark California speed to the Factory ranks. For 2026, Porter suits up for the Factory Daylight/Hero squad and enters the season with a big target on her back—carrying the National Age Group No. 1 plate in 15–16 Girls Cruiser.
Hailing from Sonoma, California, Porter sharpened her skills racing out of North Bay BMX, where she built a reputation for explosive starts and smooth track speed. Now stepping onto the national stage with a Factory ride, she’s looking to prove that her home track dominance can translate across the entire USA BMX circuit.

There are few riders who grace the pages of BMX history and leave such a positive impact on the sport and those around them. As a competitor, role model, or simply a rider passing by on two wheels, Denzel Stein is remembered for his demeanor both on and off the track. Few could match the drive and determination with which Denzel Stein approached life. From his first time at the track at 10 years old to his final laps in AA Pro, he raced with a level of grit and purpose that brought him success and international recognition. Climbing the ranks throughout his amateur career, it was at 14 years old, at the Fall Nationals in Phoenix, AZ, where he began his run to claim the 14 Expert NAG 1 title. From there, he continued to push his determination to new heights, earning NAG 1 three years in a row, joining BMX juggernaut Factory Redline, winning the 16 Challenge UCI World Title, advancing to AA Pro after only four races in A Pro, and claiming the Rookie Pro of the Year title. While his accolades continued to grow in BMX, Stein valued his post-racing life even more.
Denzel Stein found his true purpose in 2013 with the birth of his first daughter, and again in 2018 with his second. That same determination and humble demeanor carried into fatherhood, where he shared his guidance, work ethic, and love with his family in the same way his BMX family had come to know and respect.
The BMX World will always remember the one and only, People’s Champ.

“Man, “The People’s Champ”… we go way back. I’m a few years older than Denzel, but we really connected after meeting in Rockford around 2006. From spending time together at the races to training weeks down in DeSoto when we were both riding for Redline, those were some meaningful times.
Denzel was one of the most humble, selfless, and determined individuals I’ve known. A strong, God-fearing man who carried himself with purpose. He had a drive to prove himself every time he lined up, and if you were racing him, you had to bring your absolute best. We shared a similar mindset, and that’s what built the bond we had.
He’s deeply missed, but the impact he made on all of us will stay with us forever.”
- Jeff Upshaw
“Rest In Peace to the People’s Champ Denzel Stein. My first time meeting him was back in 2013 at Southpark BMX. I did an interview with him and Jeff Upshaw. We also took some fun photos. Real good dude and super fast. He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to his friends and family.”
- Al Cayne
“I first met Denzel at the 2007 World Championships in Canada. I had already seen videos from Australia of this big 16-year-old Texan beating AA pros, and I remember thinking, how am I supposed to compete with that? On the track he was powerful and dominant, but off it he was a gentle giant, polite, genuine, and deeply respected. Over the years, as teammates and friends, we shared countless memories. From truck talk in the Redline rig to nights out after races, and even Alise
and my wedding day, which he was a big part of. Denzel always carried a fatherly presence. He put others first, and no matter how his own day had gone, he was always up for a laugh afterwards.
Watching from afar as he became a dad, it was obvious how much he loved his girls. It is still hard to believe he is gone, but I will always be grateful for the mornings at Starbucks and the weekly dinners we shared as a Redline squad at the races. I can still hear that little kid laugh he would break into every time Jason told a story.”
- Sam Willoughby
“The first words that come to mind when I think of Denzel are 1) Persistent and 2) Consistent. .... For our 2009 season, D and Alise were a perfect pairing - as they’d previously been teammates on CMC, and on January 17th, every year, they celebrated the same exact birthday. Denzel had just earned Rookie Pro of the Year, officially making him the “People’s Champ” (as Mike Redman named him). He was our top dog on the roster (until we picked up Alise’s boyfriend ...some Aussie named Sam), and made Redline look good on and off the track.
Denzel had his highs (2 wins in his Rookie season, Golden Crank “Rookie of the Year”, No.5 Pro ranking 4-times) and some lows (like the forkbreaker Crash at Grands, abruptly ending his best shot at the No.1 Pro title). His Pro stats speak for themselves: Pro Career: 6 years
Lifetime Avg Ranking: # 7.5
Lifetime Mains Made: 53
Lifetime Career Wins: 12
Lifetime Podiums: 22
BUT ... everything he did on his bike
pale in comparison to the post-BMX Denzel I followed on social media. What made me most proud of Denzel was seeing what kind of father he was for his two girls. Seeing The Man he became, after BMX, and I thinkpartially due to what he’d done in BMX. Definitely gone too soon.”
- Craig ‘gOrk’ Barrett
“Denzel came on to my radar around ‘05, when I started hearing about the teenage kid who was pulling the pros out at DeSoto! When he joined Redline in ‘07, he became a brother to all of us! Denzel was one of the strongest people I’ve ever met, but he was also very soft-hearted and kind. I never saw him lose his temper…not even once…and we always ended our conversations with, “I love you, guy!” I’m so happy for that! I’ll forever cherish the thousands of miles, chats, laughs, and hot laps that we shared on tour! Denzel truly was the People’s Champ! RIP, Brother D!”
- Jason Carnes
I’ve known Denzel a very long time having frequented the National at his local stomping grounds in DeSoto, TX growing up. Fast forward to 2009 and we joined the Redline Factory team together as a pair 18 year old pros with the exact same birthday. We shared countless trips together with Jason Carnes behind the Redline truck wheel, as well as traveled the world together on the US National team. We grew up together and our Redline squad was a family. We shared a lot of laughs and made a lot of memories in those many years of “truck talk” together. Denzel always made me laugh and was definitely a gentle giant despite being such a force on the track — He really was “The People’s Champ”. Even though we didn’t see each other as often after Denzel moved on from BMX, he was one of those people that was always so easy to pick back up right where you left off with. I’ll forever cherish the annual birthday catchups with him and having the whole Redline family together again at our wedding. Denzel was an amazing friend and father taken way too soon. May he rest in peace and know he will forever be missed and never forgotten. Love you brother D, give your gramps, mama Beast and KB hugs for us up there.
- Alise Willoughby

Meet the NEXT GEN class of 2026 - A collection of rising stars from across the country with their sights set on National and Olympic glory.
A few in this group are entering the 17-18 Junior class and will have a chance to prove themselves on the UCI World Circuit while the young guns have a few more years to gain valuable National and World Championship experience in the amateur ranks. One thing they all have in common is their ability to boost it over the big sets. Track speed and skill can be acquired in training but the ability to jump emerges at an early age. Take Kelowna’s Elliott Crawford, age nine, for example he’s not the fastest kid off the gate but he already has a fearless approach to the art of jumping. He may be a decade away from a shot at the Olympics but keep an eye out for ‘Airtime’ Elliott and the next-next gen.
Los Angeles (LA28) plays host to the next Summer Olympics and you can bet these aspiring riders will be watching closely with their eyes on representing Canada four years later in Brisbane, Australia. Follow their journey!

Be like Drew! Langley’s Drew Mechielsen used equal amounts of skill and determination to make the 2020 Olympic main event in Tokyo.
When you earn a TOP 10 NAG (National Age Group) plate in the USA BMX National series, it means you have serious talent and speed.
The Ontario Provincial Champ turned 14 this year and continues to push the likes of Canada’s Logan Lee and Elle Foo-Donais, two of last year’s Next Gen picks who went on to win at the USA Grands. That means Riley Pootmans, who trains under the watchful eye of coach Brendan Arnold from Stouffville BMX, is on the right track.
She recently made the main all three days at the Carolina Nationals on the worldclass Rock Hill course giving her a timely confidence boost as she prepares for the World Championships in Australia this July. Go get em’ Tiger!

If there is one rider that has the kind of pack riding skills that is part of a World Cup survival kit, it’s Austin Cornbill. As part of the National Development Team, he raced in the Under-23 class in Papendal, NED and as one of the youngest riders in the field, he narrowly missed out on the semi-finals.
Campbell River, BC . As part of the National Development
He enters the new season on a mission to improve his gates and first straights which will serve him well on the international stage. For those who remember Tory Nyhaug’s accent to greatness, he often relied on his incredible track speed to gain positions during the race. It’s a survival strategy that comes in very handy when your gate start is not your best friend.
Austin kicked off the season winning Zero-2-Hero ProAm at the BC Provincial series in Abbotsford and trains on the Nanaimo track while he prepares for UCI World Cups with the National Team.

She spent a month training in Australia on the Worlds Supercross Track and has her sights set on making the Canadian Worlds Team and winning the Junior Women’s championship jersey at the Canadian Championships.
Her dedication to training continues to inspire the next generation of riders and Daisy was recently honoured to receive a BMX Mentorship award from her home track in Calgary, Alberta. Things are looking pretty ‘Fly’ for Daisy in 2026!

If there was an award for most improved rider in 2025, Allie McLean would have been a solid pick. She hit her stride after capturing the first ever BC Junior Devo Crown at the Provincial Finals in Langley and her confidence blossomed from there.
By the time the Canadian Grands had come around, Allie was pushing Logan Lee (World 8) to the limit and made her mark in Superclass with a podium finish. She has a tireless work ethic and is not afraid to put in the extra time to improve. We expect to see more of this in 2026.

There once was a young phenom called the ‘Land Rocket’ from BC who went on to become an Olympian - Tory Nyhaug. He showed early signs of a fearless approach to liftoff, just like this lil’ ripper from Kelowna.
Airtime Elliott may be the youngest in this Next Gen class but he is already known as a big-set-booster at the young age of 9. He jumps everything on his home track and has taken those skills to the big bike in the surrounding hills and mountains.
His race results are a mixed bag, but as he grows and adds some body mass, Elliott just might find himself at the front of the pack and leave the group behind as he skies his way to his next National win.

Long before his win at the 2026 USA BMX Carolina Nationals, Ryan Tougas was just a kid in the stands, focused more on a snow cone than the significance of the moment that would overtake his summers. At five years old, sitting among the crowd at the 2007 World Championships, he watched the blur of jerseys and speed without fully understanding it. Maybe it was the colors, maybe it
was the energy, or maybe it was watching a fellow Canadian win the 15 Challenge Boys class with the maple leaf on his chest; the hook was set, even if he didn’t know it yet.
Like many Canadian kids, Ryan and his brother Alex didn’t grow up in a system built solely around BMX. The sport had a season, and when it ended, so did track time. What filled the gaps would quietly become one of his greatest advantages in his early years. Soccer sharpened his explosiveness and control, basketball built coordination and awareness, and ball hockey added another log to the competitive fire. In hindsight those attributes are what still shape Tougas today. Those team environments taught him how to function within something bigger than himself. Years later, those same lessons would resurface in a much different setting, far from local
fields and school gyms.
For a long time, Tougas existed in the space between potential and breakthrough. In Canada, he was a consistent number one, but across the border, where depth and competition thickened, he found himself solid and reliable, but not yet dominant. A main-maker cracking the top-five and as he puts it, just a Stock Average Guy. It’s that kind of label that can either stall a career or quietly fuel it. His career leading up to the 2017 Salt Lake Nationals didn’t come with a gradual climb, but with a statement. At 15, in Salt Lake City, everything aligned. Three days of racing, three wins. It wasn’t just the results, it was the realization that he could do it at that level, against that field. Around the same time, guidance from mentor Jerry Bradford helped sharpen the edges of his racing, refining not just how he rode, but how he thought about racing. The pieces were there. The timing, finally, matched the potential.
But progression, as Tougas would learn, isn’t linear. Injuries have a way of interrupting momentum, and for him, they did more than that, they forced a pause. From 2018 to 2022, his career

was defined less by results and more by recovery, patience, and uncertainty. While most would take that kind of gap as the end of the story, Tougas made it his reset.
When he returned, it wasn’t with the same mindset he’d left with. There was a shift, subtle, but decisive. He talks about “racing with aggression,” but not in the way most people interpret it. There’s no recklessness or unnecessary contact. For Tougas, aggression is commitment. It’s attacking every inch of the track, refusing to give away moments, eliminating “free laps.” It’s about choosing a line and owning it. As many in the Elite classes know, it’s about making decisions with confidence and sustaining intensity from the gate drop to the finish line.
That approach has started to define him as he steps further into the Pro level of the sport, representing Canada among a growing wave of talent. Riders like Molly Simpson embody the grit and determination he sees emerging from the Canadian scene, while the consistency of athletes who came before him serve as the benchmark he’s
chasing. For Tougas it’s no long about proving his abilites, it’s about showing up to reinforce them. Through these recent years, one constant has grounded him, Chase Bicycles. The team that took a chance on him before he had a single pro gate to his name, offering support during a time when results couldn’t justify the investment. That kind of belief didn’t go unnoticed. Surrounded by riders and mentors like Barry Nobles, Rico Bearman, and teammate Izaac Kennedy, the environment feels less like a roster and more like a family. And in a sport that can often feel individual and isolating, that support changes everything. Tougas’s story isn’t built on overnight success or meteoric rise. It’s something steadier, more deliberate. A progression shaped by patience, by setbacks that redirected, and by a willingness to develop on his own timeline. From a kid in the stands chasing a snow cone to a rider chasing consistency on the world stage, the winner’s circle quote remains the same: trust the process, trust the people around you, and let the results come when they’re ready.

With two wins under his built across his USA BMX Pro Career, Tougas sets his eyes on the international schedule leading into the LA28 Olympic cycle.

Every former racer has this moment. Whether it’s in the corner of your garage, covered in a grimy layer of shed dust, or bouncing around in the back of your pickup truck, the welds and rubber catch your eye and dig out a thought, “I should race this weekend.” That’s exactly what happened to me heading into the Show Me State Nationals, and time back on the track was exactly what the doctor ordered. My camera gear and clothes were joined by a race-ready rig loaded into the car and off to the races in Springfield, MO.
With a fast and fun track awaiting racers and fans, it didn’t take long for standout riders to peak their wheel out in the lead and lay down the power. As the first prop er National in the Midwest, the landlocked states were amongst those with their wheel out front. With power boosted triple-doubles from Erin Moore, Ella McLaugh lin, and so many more, it was Jemma Tollefson who took top winning honors with a full nine pack, the extra hard triple-triple in Springfield.
Watching riders rip off wins and test lines, had me start my “race strategy.” Would I boost out of turn one like the J&R Bicycles ladies, Henley Greer and Malia Alvarez? Would Solomon Goodwin’s tap to bump jump into the turn be my second straight line? Only time would tell, but in the meantime, there were plenty of battles to keep me and fellow fans busy.
At any National throughout the USA BMX circuit, the local talent gears up to shine. In Springfield, while it was an indoor build, Kinsley Mackey in 9 Novice and Cy Kuntz in 13 Intermediate brought their local Springfield speed into the winner’s circle.

Nebraska’s Jayme Liddell has speed to take home wins with some Gold Cup Champ style to match.

From the locals to the North, plenty of Minnesotans raced away from the snow into the winner’s circle. Reid Vanderhayden was one of those racers who came to spin laps and did it in dominating fashion. Owning 10 Cruiser, Vanderhayden locked up the class’s wins and made his presence known in the 10x racing as well with a fifth on Saturday. On the top spot in 10x was River Trecek and Mason Southwell, and while each main event held power-driven first straights, Mason Southwell’s Saturday win was a perfect example of young gun power. Getting his elbow in front after his first three pedals, Southwell used that edge to lock down the inside line and lead the lap. While some think he learned the speed from his Cobb County BMX crew, I think he took a note from the 17-20 Women Cruiser battle. Each lap with the 17-20 WCru class was action-packed, but their Friday main set the tone for the weekend and the season to come.
in staging to foes on track these little ladies gear up for their 30 second as foes.

ILLINOIS v FLORIDA : Zayden Brockunier and Connor Beckley test their lines over the second straight triple.

USE IT ALL: 14x goes white line to white line into turn one with Kyson Christen on the point.

Marlie Rietschel got the lead with Talynn Dickey and Isabella Meyer fighting for the two spot. Carving through the apex, Dickey and Meyer connected and stuck down the exit, putting the pair on an off-track path. Bumping and battling for that podium position, neither racer was backing down, and Dickey paid the price, landing at my feet on the infield of the second straight, while Meyer continued to the two spot behind Rietschel.
The racing continued, and fans on the second floor stayed at the railing to watch the action. As the main event gates slapped down, they saw great moments like four-year-old Oliver Thompson taking a 5 & Under Novice win, Brian Williams and Thomas Lowe going head to head in 46-50 Novice, and countless Expert racers searching for their National points in the 2026 season.
As the last mains headed to staging, I joined Cole Baxter for our walk to staging. The nerves were still there, the legs maybe not quite as much, but the feeling was the same as it’s always been, go out and have fun. Watching a weekend full of wins, battles, and breakthrough races was a reminder of why I keep coming back to the gate. Whether you’re racing for a National win, a first trophy, or just the excuse to dust off an old bike in the garage, BMX has a way of pulling you back to the gate. And after a weekend in Springfield, I’m already thinking the same thing again: I should race next weekend.

STOKED: Smiling wide down the third straight after a BIG send. Rumour has it Henley Greer is still smiling from her time in Springfield.

WIDE OPEN: Fully pinned down the front straight, Vince Griffin, Chad Gingrich, and Raymond Bradford open up the throttle.

OUT FRONT: Oliver Lyle and Chance Jarvis-Turner charge out of turn two for their spot in the 10 Cruiser main.

Back to where it all began. The BMX family returns to SoCal, not with a DeLorean, but with the fastest race frames saver stamps can buy. Sitting atop the City of Industry hillside, the SoCal Nationals converted the Industry Hills Expo Center into a three-turn race track that tested skills and showcased speed from gate to finish line. And while the straightaways brought the show, the turns brought the action.
Berm warfare was the name of the game throughout the weekend, and it showed in each of the 16 Cruiser main events. With Ryeder Coon on point with fast holeshots, both Mason Buller and Maddux Vicario got in on the action. First up, it was Buller with the turn-two bump-and-run for the Friday win. Seeing the pass from third on Friday, Vicario saw his opportunity on Saturday and Sunday. With a fast third straight taking the winning inside line into turn three, Vicario made the pass for his first win of the weekend, and his second mirrored Buller’s, with a perfectly timed X-pass crossing the bottom of the turn and taking the leading line out.
Sixteen Cruiser had its share of turn passes, but the legends in 51–55 Cruiser had the hat trick, with Jim Nelson and Jason Silva duking it out. The pair has plenty of experience racing each other around dirt tracks, and 2026 was a flash from the past, with Nelson and Silva swapping positions in nearly every turn. It finally came to a head in turn three, where Jason Silva ended the game of cat and mouse, pumping his way to the win while Nelson was left picking up the pieces.
Berm-banging action continued with the little ladies of BMX, graduating them from little ladies to fiercely fast battlers. In 10x Girls, the pack had a head full of steam charging to turn three. Isabella Smith led the charge with Briella Salemme close behind. Salemme entered the turn with a move in mind, and she stuck to it, slamming the door into the final straight, putting Smith in the soft stuff and pausing her winning celebration until the following race day.

Chloe Kuettel and Aldenora White get their speed and hair ramped up over the first jump.

DEATH, TAXES, AND JASON MORRIS STYLE: If Jason Morris is at a National Race you just know there will be style thrown down around the track and 2026 SoCal once again confirmed it.

The fiercely fast racers weren’t done, as 12x Girls showed the strategic side of berm warfare. Boxed into the pack down the first straight, all of the ladies in 12x were after the lead, but it was Zoe Lomeli who shot the gap. Like a great white weaving through shipwrecks, she found a lane and dove to the front. No contact, no problem, as the BMX Sharks rider powered her way to the win in SoCal.
The 14x Girls were right behind and ready for the turns. In a heated three-way battle, Sharick Salguero Chaverra, Chase Burian, and Logan Lee came out of turn one hunting for the win. With Chaverra out front, Burian carved low through turn two, claiming the lead. The move cost some speed, allowing Logan Lee to gain ground and join the battle down the third straight. In and out of the final turn, Lee made her pass, causing a full podium shakeup as Chaverra landed in second and Burian
WAITING GAME: With a rider down on track, these racers got their nerves tested as they wait for their turn on the track.

STEALTH: Jacob Gonzales may have the stealth impact kit but his speed stands out in 13x.

NEW RIDE STYLE: The newest member of the Daylight HERO squad, Kymberlee Porter looks right at home in the maroon and cream.

settled for third.
With every pass made, there are those that don’t quite stick. A big one for the weekend came from the semi-main action. Basil Contes and Mason Robertson were battling for position into turn three when Contes took it upstairs and Robertson held strong, causing a dogpile that collected Jayce Fishbaugh in the blink of an eye. With three transfer spots already claimed, it was a scramble to the line, and the man who crashed last left first, putting the SoCal crowd on their feet. With a fumble and a stumble in the last 10 feet, Fishbaugh finally crossed the finish line with bike and transfer in hand. Into the mains, 10x saw another pass attempt that had all the speed to make it, but it was met by Jaiye Lau’s sturdy defense. Taking the hit and hearing the pack collect behind him, Lau put another win on the shelf while adding points to the BMX Sharks team sheet.
By the time the final motos rolled through the Industry Hills turns, the SoCal Nationals had delivered exactly what BMX fans expect from a return to Southern California: speed, strategy, and plenty of elbows in the berms. From last-corner passes to pileups and perfectly timed style, the weekend proved once again that when the racing comes back to SoCal, the action always follows. As the dust settled on the hillside, riders left with wins, lessons, and one more chapter written in the long history of BMX racing in Southern California.

THE HUMANITY!!: The Intergalactic Sidehack action graces the City of Industry with Buck Wild BMX and BMX Sharks hacking their way to three wheel glory.

The BMX journey for every racer starts in the same fashion: an interest in bikes leads to rubber on dirt, with the smallest wins feeling like gold. As racers begin to climb the ladder in their careers, a rung becomes visible, labeled in red, white, and blue. The USA Cycling National Championships span every cycling discipline, and in BMX Racing, there are two events where 20” bikes battle for the coveted Stars and Stripes jersey.
The first of the two events rolled into West Monroe, LA, where 40 collegiate athletes switched their factory jerseys for school colors to compete for the 2026 USA Cycling Collegiate BMX Racing National Championship. From individual titles to the team omnium, the affectionately named “Natty Champs” delivered battles within battles, bringing Marian Cycling and Lindsey Wilson Cycling to the forefront as the dominant teams in the competition. Over the two-day event, four different winners emerged in the main events, putting consistency at the forefront in the race to claim the jersey and gold medal. In Collegiate Women, Rita Fedora and Breanna Winter were the focus for fans, with Fedewa getting the lead
down the hill on both race days, leaving Winter to utilize her track speed to reel her in while flying the Belmont Abbey College colors. While Winter had to settle for second on Day One behind Fedora, Day Two was where determination took over. Pushing her track speed into overdrive, Winter dug for that extra 10 percent and forced a photo finish to take the win and the Collegiate Women’s National Title. That victory, combined with the rest of Marian’s finishes, secured the Omnium Title for the Indiana-based university, adding another line to their championship banner.
From chase-downs to “Natty Champs” magic, the men’s side delivered its own drama. Through Day One, fans had their eyes on three racers: Jordan Callum, Marian’s Men Pro and Day One winner; Bobby Connelly,

Lindsey Wilson’s 17–20x standout; and Cameron Wing, Marian’s defending National Champion. Down the first straight, Callum and Wing stretched away from the pack, looking to bring the jersey back to Indiana. Then it happened—a low-line Hail Mary from Spencer Cole initiated contact, taking himself and Callum out of the race down the second straight. That move, and the ensuing chaos, opened the door for NorCal’s Bobby Connelly to take the Day Two win and the Collegiate Men’s National Championship. With blue and black jerseys swarming the first-time title winner, it was clear this wasn’t a solo victo- ry—it belonged to the entire Lindsey Wilson squad.

From collegiate racing to elite, the second National Championship event traveled East the following weekend to the Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track in Rock Hill, SC, for an all-USA showdown. Six classes raced for the glory of a National Championship title and a guaranteed spot on the 2026 World Championship team. Kicking things off with the Juniors, the young upand-comers on the big hill put their skills to the test. While they lined up against familiar competitors, the pressure was higher and the stakes multiplied under the lights in Rock Hill. In Junior Women, Derin Merten dominated the track, going 1-1-1 and climbing the podium steps to claim her second Junior title in commanding fashion, setting the tone for her 2026 international season. In Junior Men, Tommy Bruney made the state-

ment. With local talent and defending champions charging down the hill beside him, Bruney relied on power and precision—just as his South Park BMX roots demand. Leading from the first jump and fist-pumping across the line, Bruney celebrated his first USA Cycling title in Rock Hill. Stepping up into the Under-23 category, the

athletes brought more experience—but not without chaos. The U23 Women saw a strong turnout, creating two racks and bringing the title-deciding lap down to the final eight. Snapping out of the gate, Alexis Alden’s white Albe’s kit lit up the track, and there was no doubt she would take it home as she charged down the second straight. After missing out on a Junior title, Alden held this one close, finally climbing the podium and accepting the gold medal.
On the men’s side, Sean Day returned to the site of his Junior National Championship, searching for another sleeve in the next step toward the top of the sport. Consistent throughout the motos, Day entered the main as a contender, but not the clear favorite. Four pedals—that’s all it took to change that. Exploding down the first straight, Day took control, while his travel partner, Deegan Brown, slotted into second and gave chase over the berm jump toward turn three. Unfortunately, Brown wouldn’t make it that far. The two touched tires midstraight, sending Brown to the ground and giving Day the breathing room he needed to ride on to the win.
Climbing the hill once more, the Elite classes showcased the best men and women representing the red, white, and blue. With familiar faces in both mains, Payton Ridenour and Kamren Larsen took control, making it clear who sits atop Team USA in 2026. Ridenour secured her victory, going back-to-back for her second sleeve, while Larsen matched the feat in Elite Men, claiming his second title on his home track.

Taller hill, deeper jumps, and a field of racers who’ve come to test their abilities at the premier BMX facility in all of Texas.
The 2026 USA BMX Lone Star Nationals makes its return to Houston, TX, with another stop on the National circuit and a highspeed injection of Pro racing.
While the amateur racers of BMX have been busy gaining points and finding their lines through the early parts of 2026, the Pro and ABA Futures classes have been in preparation mode. The Pro opener for some is a restart, the mark of another season to better their craft, learn from their shortcomings, and grow into the racers they once dreamed of becoming. However, for the top of the top, the Pro opener is a reigniting. A relaunch toward their title-winning glory and the start of the Olympic cycle culminating in 2028. Both sides start now in Houston, Texas, on the USA BMX Pro Series. The Pro Series in 2026 sees a few changes to the race weekend schedule. The reintroduction of quarter mains and the switch to Saturday-Sunday racing, due to the UCI designating the UCI events for Fridays across the US series. What does that mean for you, the BMX fan? More laps and more excitement with even more chances to see and interact with your favorite Pros through the race weekends.
As the top of the eight-meter hill starts to fill, let’s take it down to the five and highlight a few of our favorite moments from the Amateur side of the weekend. Kicking off with a move up that has been a long time coming, you’ve seen the red and black J&R Bicycles jerseys lighting up the Amateur Title classes, but there was one in the 9 Intermediate class that has been dropping wins in their bucket toward Expert. Barry Morrison, son to owners of the legendary J&R Bicycles brand and bike shop, came into Houston with a move-up win on his mind. With Greg Harrison on the mic and Barry on the point, the confetti began to fall, welcoming “The Boss” to 9x and into another chapter of his BMX career. From the newest to the fastest experts, 17-20x brought the heat to the Lone Star State. It kicked off under the lights on Friday night with a fourthto-first swoop in turn three. Bryce Blummer was stuck in the pack around the first three quarters of the track until his opportunity to strike came in turn three. Andrew Herrera cracks the door open, Aaron Sorenson goes inside to take the lead, but lurking behind
Amir Tolefree in third was Blummer, already planning his highlow. As he makes the move, he passes one after another until he exits the turn in the lead and tows in Tolefree for the onetwo finish. The class wasn’t done there as Ian Westerman returned to the National series and Houston for redemption and a statement, ‘I’M BACK’. Back on the track after a crash at the Grands, Westman didn’t just return to win once; he came for the double-double in 17-20 Cruiser and 17-20x. While their numbers were lower than expected, the Vet Pros brought their experience to the gate to kick off their season. Barry Nobles was the one to start the Vet Pro season on top. Finding the fast line past Jeff Upshaw’s Answer BMX Holeshot thanks to a higher exit out of the turn and precision lines through the rest of the track, the #95 locked in his spot for his winner’s interview. After some weather overnight into Sunday, the field shrunk but the laps stayed fast with Corey Reid and Jeff Upshaw duking it out in a total points battle that ultimately brought Arizona’s Super cross ride to the top spot. Jumping up to the big hill with the ABA Futures, looking to learn from the Vet Pro’s experience, Preslie Gould and Marshall Gehrke gained that experience with first-time wins to kick off their 2026 ABA Futures season. Gould’s win comes with track speed on display, reeling in Alma Pinero with a turn three pass. For Gehrke, it was crash avoidance in turn one, following Cutter Godaire until the BMX Shark rider caught a rogue current, taking his tires out from under him and leaving

him to fight for another day, while the Hyper colors keep it smooth to the winner’s circle. Having to settle for the two on Saturday, Alma Pinero kept her lap clean and fast to secure a step up on the podium, mainly thanks to a big send over the first jump to set herself apart. We saw wins come down to a final stretch all weekend, and ABA Futures Men had one for themselves with Aidan Ragle and Zakary Kaiser. Ragle has been on the climb in the expert ranks for the past two years, and he showed the speed and skill down the first straight and into the lead. While Ragle was splitting through clean air, Canada’s Zakary Kaiser was patiently reeling him in. Using his long legs down the last straight, Kaiser stretched to the win in the last three feet of the H-Town BMX Supercross Track. And now to the top, the racers who are on the verge of their 2028 Olympic runs and those who inspire the next generation. Picking up where she left off in 2025, Molly Simpson left no doubt she wanted the round one win. Fighting through the wind and using her Friday night UCI win as a confidence boost, Simpson stuck to her training and climbed the podium with Lauren Reynolds and Daleny Vaughn. Sunday was a different story, though, with Payton Ridenour shooting
out of a cannon over the first jump to claim her first win in over 10 months. Overcoming sponsor battles and the constant grit to get better each day, Ridenour bet on herself and proved why her support system is in her corner.
North America had its winners in Women Pro, but the Men Pro titles went to Europeans, with two fan-favorite winners. We mentioned earlier, Ian Westeman, who made the, ‘I’m Back’ statement, in 17-20x, well, Niek Kimmann started the trend in Saturday’s Men Pro ranks. After 18 months off the bike and slowly making the climb back to his Gold Medal self, Saturday’s Men Pro win seemed like a statement. With fans and competitors on their feet, Kimmann is not only a generational racer but a generational guy putting goosebumps on our arms crossing the line and climbing the podium steps. From goosebump moment to adrenaline-fueled moment, Sunday’s main had BMXers buzzing, all starting down the third straight. Answer’s Kam Larsen on the point with Sylvain Andre and Izaac Kennedy hunting down the glory. The three were on a collision course, and the final turn was the crash site for two of them. Izaac Kennedy saw a lane on the inside, but it quickly closed when tires hit asphalt, pitching Larsen and Kennedy into the banners. With the young Olympians out of the race, Sylvain Andre enjoyed clean air and an open track, putting him back in the USA BMX Pro Series winner’s circle for the first time since 2011. Enjoying the win and the $3,000 check, Andre showed his longevity and race craft are alive and well in 2026.

RJ Crawford leads the ABA Futures pack over the first jump with a young fan club watching from the amateur hill.

Liborio enjoys his time on track with his biggest fans there to support.

Orange dirt, a loud crowd, and good Cajun cookin’, that’s got to be race weekend in West Monroe, LA: the Cajun Nationals. The Ike Hamilton Arena provided the venue, and racers from across the country brought the show to a fast and technical track. Bumping through the pack down the first straight and thinning out to the top few fighting for the podium, a few classes stood out, elevating the Cajun Nationals from just another stop to the stop in March.
The 41-45 Women’s Cruiser class was one of those standouts, with Sheri Erwin, Liz Herrera, and Brooke Foy locked in a move-making total points race. While their numbers were low, the racing was action-packed, as each round saw all three ladies out front multiple times. With Brooke Foy showing off her power down the first straight, Herrera and Erwin tested their race craft with high-low lines in the turns and speed-generating pumps down the straights. Saturday’s race brought them out of total points and into a one-lap, no-crap main where Foy launched over the second straight double, held off the field, and claimed the win. But on Friday and Sunday, consistency from Erwin proved to be the difference, as she added two wins to her trophy room.
Keeping the big-wheel action rolling, the 8 Cruiser class showed off impressive leg speed, with Tucker Jones and DJ Dimperio meeting in turn two. A steep and deep double out of turn one put the class into survival mode. As the pack built speed again, DJ “Lethal” found his moment, diving low in turn two and taking the line away from Jones.
Remember Sheri Erwin from 41-45 Women’s Cruiser?
Well, now it was her son’s turn to wow the crowd. The 13 Cruiser class came around the first turn on Friday with two riders out front: Anthony Agraan and Sutton Erwin. Locked in a heated chase for the win, the pair turned nearly identical laps, nearly. One single manual was all it took for Sutton Erwin to edge ahead and force a mistake down the third

straight. From Friday to Sunday, Erwin locked in all the Cruiser wins, paired with an impressive run in class, taking second behind Chase Harp’s consistent “Hummingbird” speed in 13x. Taking it to the girls’ division, the expert ladies had their share of fast laps around the Cajun Nationals. From Ella McLaughlin and Alaska Shepard’s side-byside Saturday main, to Sophia Tilley’s powerful sweep in 14x Girls and double-double wins on Saturday and Sunday, all the way to Lily Ashley showcasing her skills in 15-16x Girls, the talent was on full display. The women’s field also highlighted a pathway forward with the Collegiate National Championships. Showcasing another level of racing on the track and camaraderie off it, Marian University, Lindsey Wilson University, and Belmont Abbey College were eager to engage and build their future rosters, keeping the dream of combining BMX and higher education alive.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t highlight a specific 17-20x rider who has been putting in the work and finally cracked the seal at the Cajun Nationals. From slinging shirts and trophies with USA BMX Racewear to working his way up to becoming a main-maker on the national circuit, Dyllon Reeder came through Cajuns with two wins. On the bubble for so many years, Reeder stuck to his confident riding style on Friday night. Fighting his way to the front in turn one, the Redman rider didn’t look back, crossing the line for his first win with his dad fist-pumping in the background. Reeder went on to post a one–two–one through the weekend, unlocking a winning confidence that those following the USA BMX National Series knew he had all along.

KEEP’EM COMING: 17-20 Women Cruiser is the class that keeps the battles coming and it was no different in West Monroe.

The big one, the race weekend that tops racers’ bucket lists and lives in bold on their goals list. The 2026 Carolina Nationals makes its annual return to the Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track for a weekend of racing that tests nerves and preparation on a scale that hasn’t yet been replicated across the USA BMX National Series. If the Grands is the Super Bowl, then Rock Hill is the NFC Championship.
With over one thousand racers, 42 states, and 14 countries represented, the Carolina Nationals ignited into action right from the jump under the lights on Friday night. With the USA Cycling National Championships warming up the crowd for the amateur mains, racers in staging used the growing energy to showcase their abilities before the USA BMX Pro Series kicked off on Saturday and Sunday.
The Girl/Women Cruiser classes displayed speed on the front half and perseverance on the back.

Addalyn Hardy snuck away with the win in 8 & Under Girls Cruiser, while Sheri Erwin dove down in turn three to show off her move-making ability on the last straight in 41–45 Women Cruiser. Elle FooDonais joined the crowd-wowing party down the third straight in 13x, using smooth manuals and fast backsides to catch Minnesota’s Jemma Tollefson.
But then there was Ricky Carter’s lap. Hung out in turn one, usually that’s wraps for a 17–20x main, but the J&R Bicycles rider stayed with it and found himself pulling up to the leader in turn three. Using the outside exit to gain speed, Carter hit his marks and used his last straight line to claim the win in electric fashion.
As the sun shone over the Rock Hill BMX surface, rounds three and four of the USA BMX Pro Series charged down the hill. Kicking things off, the familiar faces of Vet Pro filled the fenceline as former

champions and consistent contenders snapped into race mode. But it was a certain Floridian who took the spotlight in the winner’s circle.
A full pack battled down the first straight, and chaos erupted in turn one, bringing Nic Long and Justin Riddell to a onetwo as they flew around the track for Saturday’s main event. Riddell must have gotten the back-half memo, because into turn three he made his move, charging for the win down the last straight. Keeping it smooth to the line, the MEGA Design Group rider carried that speed into Sunday, nearly mirroring the race, Nic Long grabbing the Answer Holeshot, and Riddell making the pass for a pair of wins at the Carolina Nationals.
While the Vets were battling on the back straight, the ABA Futures were ready to light up the first. Lined up on the hill, the Futures Women charged to the kink and found their lines over the first jump, where it’s makeor-break. Keeping it low and fast, Preslie Gould and Addison Thompson stretched away. Gould, hailing from Las Vegas without a big hill to sharpen her craft, showed impressive speed and confidence, taking both Saturday and Sunday ABA Futures wins. While she didn’t claim the National Championship title on Friday, she made sure not to leave empty-handed, adding two wins to her 2026 points total.
As officials cleared the Pro set for the ABA Futures Men, the stacked 40+ rider class had plenty of laps to dial in their

berm jump confidence. One rider who stood out from motos to the main event was Evan Esposito of the Albe’s–Zeronine–BOX crew. With first gate pick in the final, Esposito used it to his advantage, getting his elbow out front early and never looking back. With smooth style through the air and a precise third straight, he left no doubt as to who was best on Saturday.
Sunday, however, didn’t go Esposito’s way. Missing the main event opened the door for a new winner, one who had already seen the winner’s circle that weekend with a Junior National Championship title. Tommy Bruney shot out of the gate, meeting local rider Chris Felker and Aidan Ragle into turn one. Holding the inside, Bruney took control and stretched the gap, bringing Zakary Kaiser and Felker to the podium with him and capping off a breakout Carolina Nationals.
And now, the big dogs, the Elites. Saturday and Sunday delivered two very dif-

ferent storylines at the top. Saturday was the Gold Medalist show. Both Saya Sakakibara and Joris Daudet dominated, not dropping a lap around Rock Hill and reminding everyone why they are among the best in the world. While neither is chasing the USA BMX title, it’s always a show when #33 and #77 line up and put on a clinic for the crowd.
Sunday looked like more of the same, until the Canadian red and white had other plans.
Molly Simpson powered over the first jump, bar-to-bar with Day One’s winner. The defending National No. 1 Women Pro got her elbow ahead and never looked back. On a track that hasn’t favored her in recent years, Simpson’s win marks another step in her push toward another Pro title, and the looming 2028 LA Olympics.
And if one Canadian upset wasn’t enough, how about another from gate six?
Ryan Tougas, already a small-hill USA BMX winner, delivered a statement performance in Rock Hill on the eight-meter. With a lights-out gate to the first jump, Tougas hit the blinker and moved left, exiting turn one with the holeshot ahead of Joris Daudet. With the win on the line, Tougas stayed smooth and powerful, crossing the stripe a wheel ahead and launching himself into the conversation as a serious contender for the 2026 season.

Bicycles’ Crosby Backer dives into turn two for a fast 14x performance
TOUGGY: After a next level Men Pro win, Ryan Tougas stopped for a word with Connor Fields before celebrating with their Chase family.

Eddy Clerte and Simon Marquart lead the Men Pro quarter over the berm jump.

USA BMX announces today that $57,000 in Bob Warnicke Scholarships for 2026 have been awarded to deserving students and their families.
BMX racers and their families came out in droves to participate in Warnicke races, held at tracks all over the United States and Canada. All together, the tracks and riders helped raise $57,000 in Bob Warnicke Scholarships, which have now been awarded to deserving Collegiate BMXers. As you’re about to read, scholarships range from $500 to $3,000, and will be used to assist BMX students and their families with the costs of undergraduate college, trade school, and other educational avenues.
Since 2013, USA BMX/BMX Canada members have raised more than $750,000 in Scholarships that have been awarded.
PULL Magazine not only congratulates the following students on receiving these funds, but we want to give a huge thanks and high-fives to each and every rider who participated in a Bob Warnicke event. These are the fruits of your labor.
The USA BMX Foundation has created an endowment for the Bob Warnicke Memorial Scholarship Fund. Each year money raised through the Warnicke Scholarship races and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony are placed into the endowment. Donations to the 501(c)3 are always appreciated and are utilized for the scholarship fund. For more information on a Bob Warnicke Scholarship race near you, visit usabmx.com

Located in Bismarck, North Dakota, Fastrax BMX has been a cornerstone of the community since 1982, but over the past decade, it has grown into one of the premier BMX programs in the region.
Fastrax has averaged over 100 riders per race night for eight consecutive years - an achievement that places it among roughly 15 tracks nationwide to reach that level of consistent participation. That sustained success earned Fastrax recognition as a Top 10 facility in 2024. The track has also proudly hosted the North Dakota State Championship Finals for the past decade, solidifying its role as a leader in the region’s BMX scene.
This success has been driven by strong leadership and an even stronger community. Under the direction of Track Director Jamy Mills, now entering his 11th year in the role, Fastrax has built a culture centered on
consistency, growth, and opportunity. Backed by an amazing, dedicated board and an incredible group of volunteers, the organization continues to raise the bar year after year.
At its core, Fastrax BMX is about more than racing - it is about impact. The track provides a positive, structured environment where kids can build confidence, stay active, and develop both on and off the bike. From first-time riders on balance bikes to experienced racers competing at high levels, there is a place for everyone.
Fastrax has made significant investments in its facility to elevate both safety and the rider experience. The addition of a fully electric ProStart gate system three years ago has brought a consistent, high-level start experience to every race, while asphalt corners pro

vide improved speed, performance, and all-weather durability.
In 2024, Fastrax expanded its reach by adding a full-scale balance bike track, creating a safe and exciting space for the youngest riders to get started. Plans are already in motion to add a starting gate for these riders, continuing the focus on developing the next generation of BMX athletes.
aThe facility continues to evolve off the track as well. A new building addition currently underway will expand concessions, grow the bike shop and loaner bike program, and add much-needed storage - helping Fastrax better serve both new riders and longtime participants.
Fastrax is a 100 percent volunteerrun nonprofit, and that community support is what truly sets it apart. Families, riders, and volunteers come together each week to create an experience that goes far beyond the track.
Looking ahead, continued improvements - including the installation of a Sqorz timing system - will elevate the race experience and our coaching program experience even further and help prepare riders for competition at the highest levels.
Fastrax BMX is not just building racers - it is building confidence, character, and a community that continues to grow stronger every year.

State Series – With the open border state series, here is what you need to know. Effective this year, you will get points based on the finish you earn for single point races (maximum of 8), and keep in mind these races need to be done in the respective state of the series you are competing in. Your 4 best single point races will be awarded points using the state points table. For the remaining 4 races you will receive 1 state point each. These races need to be done by August 1! The points for the state series table are so close that in a lot of cases it is the single point races that tip the scale.
Gold Cup Series – Riders can earn up to 4 bonus Gold Cup points for the series. For every 2 single point races you participate in on or before August 15th you earn 1 bonus Gold Cup point. You can race at any track in any state to earn the bonus Gold Cup points. It is early enough in the season so get those races in by August 15th! With the point scale so close between Novice, Inter and Expert… bonus points can shake things up a bit!!
National Series – Riders can earn additional bonus points based on their finish positions at single point races held on or before October 1st. These bonus points are awarded according to the National Bonus Points Table (page 16 of the 2026 rulebook) and are capped at a maximum of 80 points across up to eight single point races. These races must be in the same category – either class or cruiser as a rider’s National/NAG standings.
This does NOT apply to CNAG and Canadian National points.
Bonus points are added to your series point total automatically. Keep this in mind when you are looking at points and wonder why a rider may be ahead of you even when your finish was better at the qualifier. The key here is single point races. So get out and support your local track - hit the dirt and have some fun!
