The premier pedal for the flat pedal posse releases a new member to their team!
Chilao SS (Static Spring patent pending) uses a spring to preload the outer bearing against the pedal’s endcap, making the side load static regardless of wear and installation torque tolerances. The result is a minimized friction point that is normally a result of bearing preload in conventionally designed pedals.
Giving an extra bit of cash to the Junior and Under 23 racers of the series, the ODI and Connor Fields’ CFP Program delivered all three days in Rock Hill. With a fast squad
of US racers showing up for the USA Cycling National Championships, the program paid out $1,500 over the weekend’s racing.
Traveling across the country and showing off the excitment of BMX and cycling to her audience of 153,000 YouTube subscribers, Brecky Breck could be heading to a track near you with her Books and Bikes Tour. Bringing balance bikers and their families to the track and learning about BMX, the tour is igniting the cycling spark in thousands of families across the United States.
Newly refined ultra-thin Chilao SS body is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum loosing 18 grams per set in large, compared to the previous Chilao pedal generation. New Chilao SS spindle features a 3mm increased Q-factor. They are made in house from propriety alloy steel which are heat treated and Ceracoated insuring they are strong, and resilient.

It’s not often we get to travel to a new indoor arena, but when the USA BMX National tour rolled into the newly built Wilson Logistics Arena, Springfield, MO, was ready to see national-caliber BMX racing. With a short track, tight turns, and a loud crowd to cheer on the racers, the Show Me State Nationals brought fun action to the indoor weekend.
A Billy Allen track design filled the track floor, and racers nation wide filled the staging shoots. Right from the jump, main events kicked off hot on Friday night, with Landon Burians dominating charge through the ladies Pro/Am, followed by the last straight speed of Ethan Popovich snagging the win from Vet Pro, Alan Hudson. E-Pop had to stretch to take home the Day One win, Haro’s 17-20x powered to dominating wins throughout the weekend. A full main event sweep in Springfield, MO, popped Popovich’s winning drought and inspired the racers around him to cross the line on top.
Kicking off with the little ladies of BMX, the girls club saw wire-to-wire wins via the 7, 8, and 9x Girls classes. Hadleigh Sandmann, Isabella Smith, and Ameri De Vera won impressively throughout indoor build. Up a class in 10x Girls, Gracelyn Burnsworth had a big battle on her hands with Keely Nelson slicing through the dirt turns every single lap. Burnsworth held off the swoop from Nelson on Friday, but Nelson was determined to lock in a class win, which she did on Sunday.
Sibling rivalry is fierce throughout the BMX world, and with the elder Burian sister taking home a Pro/ Am win, Chase Burian wouldn’t let her Big Sis have all the fun. Rock ing the Tangent Black and Gold, both Chase and Landon Burian went on an impressive streak of wins. Landing
Dirt turn burnin’, Jordan Moyer leads the Hawaiian, Aaron Alensonorin, through turn two.
on the top spot in 11 out of 13 main events had us asking which races upset the sweep. That had to be the super-fast Jemma Tollefson in 11-12 Girls Cruiser and Diamond Lily Ashley in 13-14 Girls Cruiser, both added to their class wins, leaving Springfield with a handful of impressive wins.
Gates continued to drop, and familiar faces flew by the PULL BMX flashes. But it was in 15-16x Girls where we saw the return of a Missouri local, L.O.L.A., Returning to the track after a fall at the 2023 Super Nationals, Lola Jonjevic brought her comeback speed to the Show Me State podium following Black Widow’s Taya Boecker around Friday Night’s main event. The ladies continued to battle throughout the weekend. However, the crowd-favorite ladies came out of the 56 and Over Women Cruiser and 51 and Over Women Expert classes with Paula Maresh, Lynn Schroeder, Stephanie Johnson, and Ms. Kittie Weston-Knauer. Taking to the track all three days, the four ladies put on a show of resilience and determination for the Show Me State crowd as Paula Maresh swept the weekend in both class and cruiser.
Speaking of resilience and determination, the Texan Craig Prince showed the whole arena how tough those Texas boys are made. Bike malfunctions happen but when Prince was hunting for his spot in his cruiser main event, disaster struck down the third straight. Snapping both sides of his handle bars and landing hard into the face of a roller we were shocked to see him walk off the track under his own power. Not only did he walk it off, the man saddled back up for his class main and landed on the podium behind Chris Kennedy and Rob Drolet. After witnessing the boss level toughness from Prince, the rest of the boys were ready to race.
From Indiana’s young gun, Jethro Salva, to Florida’s John Pringle and
Mekenna Martin laid down the speed in Springfield’s Collegiate racing for her Lindenwood Cycling crew.
scattered throughout the weekend. The LDC teammates, Chase Perkins and Crosby Backer laid down the back to back wins, Danny Waters returned to the indoor action with tenacity in 14x and Austin McKan took his speeds to freaky fast levels. The racing hit a boiling point in 15x as Chris Felker and Tommy Bruney battled out front while fending off the competition. Friday’s main saw Tommy B chasing Felker down the third straight with long haired Dyllon Reeder in three. Setting up his move and going for the win, Bruney shows Felker the soft side of the turn while Bruney loses control and collects Reeder opening the door for the comeback double. Winning already in 15 Cruiser, Ryder Robinett returned to the series and capitalized taking home the Friday double and a little bit of confidence into the remaineder of the season.
Age is just a number and Chris Kennedy is proving that true with his impressive speed in 51-55x.
Brooke Foy got caught showing off her Ice White Ssquared in 4145 wCru.

Marian University’s Noah Barton leads Lindsey Wilson’s Jaime Quintanilla into turn two.
Words & Photos By:
Justin WahlIt’s a new chapter of life—out of the high school 8 to 3 and into the big bad world. For the racers at the collegiate level, this includes furthering their education while training to continue their love of BMX.
The USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships has brought hundreds of racers to the main stage of the USA BMX National series, creating a thrilling atmosphere. In 2024, the Collegiate race teams hit the dirt track racing in Springfield, MO. Pro and Amateur racers combine at the gate, igniting the excitement not only for the individual titles but for the school overall as well. Fifty-three racers loaded into the gate, and thousands of fans, onsite and online, geared up to watch the next Collegiate National Champs be crowned. In a two-day total point for the Collegiate Titles, Day One laid the groundwork for the fans to find their favorites and to see which battles they needed to keep an eye on for the title deciding main events. Off the jump, the Marian ladies showed their dominance with five out of eight main event racers rocking the yellow and blue.
Marian University’s Breanna Winter, Mya Ramos, and Violet Cejalvo took charge of the Day One podium with tight racing through the first three straights. With an outside line in the elbow-to-elbow third straight battle, Winter’s Rockstar helmet made the move to take home the Day One win. The Collegiate Women weren’t done yet. The Day Two main event saw the same battles with even more action to decide the
Championship as the Marian squad was once again out front. Diving into the third turn, Mya Ramos looked to fend off the inside pressure from Winter in the final turn. With a little too big of a carve in the Springfield dirt turns, Ramos slides out, collecting one teammate and opening the door for Violet Cejalvo and Alex Hill to take over the Marian top spots. As the overall was calculated, Cejalvo’s third and first place points took her to the top of the Collegiate podium to collect her American Flag jersey and the 2024 USA Cycling Collegiate National Championship.
Over on the Men’s side of the Collegiate action, the 30-rider class had to get past on man, Cameron “Wing Ding” Wing. Charging to a wire-to-wire win with longtime riding buddies Jordan Callum and Noah Barton. As the field bumped and battled through the rounds, Cam Wing had the top spot on lock through each of his laps leading into the Day Two main event. Snapping out of gate three with a straight shot to the first turn, Wing wasted no time getting to the front and leading the main event hot lap. Crossing the line with the second win of the weekend, Wing brought his Marian Jersey to the top of the overall podium and switched it out for the Stars and Stripes for the 2024 Collegiate title.
Taking home both individual titles and a handful of podium spots, Marian University swept the weekend to defend their title and go back-to-back for the 2024 USA Cycling Collegiate Omnium National Championship.
The Kentucky kids brought the Black and Blue LWC kits to battle around the indoor arena. Landing on the podium with an overall team second, Lindsey Wilson Cycling has built themselves a squad that is ready to stay in the hunt for a title.
Located in Indianapolis IN, Marian University brought its fast crew of racers the the 2024 National Championships with a title on their minds and they succeded leaving with a Collegiate Jersey sweep winnning the Overall Team and both individual titles.
The homestate racers from Lindenwood Cycling came to defend Missouri putting their Golden Lion on the podium in the overall and Women’s class thanks to Mckenna Martin taking home the fourth place finish to pair with the team’s bronze winning performance.
Traveling through the Rockies and across the Great Plains, the CMU racers from the high desert brought an impactful presence to the Nat Champs weekend. Just off the podium in fourth place, the Colorado Mesa University left Missouri with high spirits after watching Zaine Stensen clinch the individual bronze medal.
Back on the BMX bike after almost a full year, Caitlyn Farmer jumped right back into the race mode in the Collegiate Women ranks leading Marian’s Alex Hill.

Sharpen those elbows. Zoe Lomeli and Keely Nelson get up close and personal down the Rock Hill second straight.
12x dominator, Landon Donnelly, leads the charge into Rock Hill’s turn two.Upon arriving at the Rock Hill complex on Thursday, we were greeted with welcoming blue skies and warm weather for the final day of open practice before the Carolina Nationals officially kicked off. There was excitement in the air with this being one of the first outdoor nationals in the central part of the East Coast. When talking with racers there was an uneasy feeling about how many riders would show up with the Worlds being held here in two short months. Let’s face it, there are always long days at this venue as it draws in huge crowds with a lot of international riders due to how incredible it is. You could actually hear a sigh of relief when Friday’s moto count was revealed to be 292 motos. Without a doubt if it hadn’t started to rain during the Friday morning practice the numbers would have been higher, almost definitely close to Saturday’s number of 321. Three hundred motos is the sweet spot for a race here since the Pro events add so much time to the day, and there is always the weather that throws in its own delays.
We arrived at the track Friday morning before practice started with a killer pink sunrise and a very low possibility of rain, after a few practice rounds that changed to a very high possibility and the sky grew darker and darker. During 13-14 boys practice the rain started and so did the lightning… This led to almost a two hour long weather delay. After the rain subsided practice continued and the race start time was moved to 4:10. The late start time would have had the race day ending extremely late, around 2 AM. During quarters, the decision was made that semis and mains would be run Saturday morning before Saturday’s race. Running this way would make Saturday a long day too, but it was worth it to not start the weekend off with a really long day and little sleep for the next day. The next two days the weather was a lot better, Saturday was hot and sunny and Sunday was colder and windy.
UCI racing kicked off all three national days of racing, with SuperX Men being the largest of the “Big Hill” classes with 49 riders in total on Saturday. In SuperX Women Justine Beaudoin won on Friday, Laurianne Beland finished second and Taryn Baillie third. On Saturday the finishing order was Mia Custer, Preslie Gould followed by Laurianne Beland. Friday’s SuperX Mens finishing order was Luca Micheli, Zakary Kaiser and Colby Gunn. Saturday they finished Jonathan Suarez, Luca Micheli, then Tommy Bruney. The Junior Women finishing order on Friday was Mariana Agudelo, Alexis Alden, then Grecia Cristodulo. Saturday’s order was Mariana Agudelo, Nicole Foronda, then Rita Fedewa. Junior Men finished with Joshua Jolly in first, True Bailey second
and Tomas Palmezano third. Saturday was Joshua Jolly, Thomas Martinez Restrepo and Deegan Brown. Women Under 23 on Friday finished Veronica Sturiska, Sharid Fayad and Jacy Moore. Saturday they finished Jui Yabuta in first, Jacy Moore second and Breanna Winter third. The Men Under 23 podiums were Pedro Benalcazar, Martins Treimanis and James Partrick O’Brien for Friday. Saturday was Jordan Callum, James Cutter Williams and James Partrick O’Brien.
Friday in Elite Women Delany Vaughn finished first, Lexis Colby second and Carly Kane third. On Saturday Alise Willoughby won, Molly Simpson finished second and Delany Vaughn third. Elite Men on Friday Jose Alfredo Campo Vintimilla was first, Kamren Larsen second, and third was Jeremy Smith. Saturday Joshua Mclean won, Jose Alfredo Campo Vintimilla finished second, and Ryan Tougas was third.
The 8 & Under Girls Cruiser rider Brielle Salemme won all three days as did Malia Alvarez in 9-12 Girls Cruiser. In 11-12 Girls Cruiser Jemma Tollefson won on Friday and Saturday but on Sunday she led the whole lap and was passed at the line by Chase Burian. In 13-14 Girls Cruiser in the Day One main, Preslie Gould swept under Lily Ashley in the last turn and won, however, Lily Ashly won the next two days. Tatum Hoffman won the 15-16 Girls Cruiser class on Friday and Sunday, but Alma Pineiro won on Saturday. Aubrey Douglass won all three days of 17-20 Women Cruiser. In 36-40 Womens Cruiser Sarah Strayer won on Day One and Three, but Miki Libata won on Day Two. Grayson Cox won all three days in the 7 & Under Cruiser class. Hutch Griffith might have won all three days of 8 Cruiser except he crashed in turn one in Friday’s Main and Nicolas Moulton won. Dylan Myers won Friday and Sunday in 9 Cruiser, but Heston Novotny won on Saturday. In 10 Cruiser Trenton Paxman also won Friday and Sunday, but did not win on Saturday, Cruz Gallegos did. The 11 Cruiser class had a different winner each day, Cody Young, Jaxsyn Horne and Kenji Goto won in that order. The 12 Cruisers also had three different winners, Landon Donnelly, Alec Taylor and Andres Andrade. Lucan Theisen won Day’s One and Three in 13 Cruiser, but Sean Lehew won on Day Two. Mario Brattoli won all three days in 14 Cruiser. Gavin Menditto won Saturday and Sunday in 15 Cruiser, but on Friday had trouble on the first straight and Cash Strickland won. Ian Westerman won on Friday in 16 Cruiser, but Gage Hill won the next two days. It is probably no surprise that 17-20 Cruiser had a different winner each day, Andrew Herrera, Richard Carter III and Drake Velador won in that order. Yavant Hausler won in the 21-30 Cruiser class on Saturday and Sunday, but on Friday Austin Marney snuck under him in the first turn and was able to keep the lead and win. Same thing happened in the 31-35 Cruiser Class when Chris Correa snuck under Friday and Saturdays winner, Geovanni Novo, and won on Sunday. Corey Willert and Justin Wike won all three days in the 36-40 and 41-45 Cruiser classes. The 46-50 Cruisers had a different winner each day Corky Gainsford, Chad Street and Paulo Moreira won in that order. Domingos Lammoglia won in the 5155 Class on Saturday and Sunday, but on Friday Jim Nelson had a killer first straight and used that to grab Friday’s win. Charlie Williams won on Friday and Saturday in 56-60 Cruiser, but on Sunday John Pringle battled his way to the front and won. In 6165 Cruiser Juan Carlos Carbo won all three days. In 66 & Over Cruiser,
Dempsey Stocker won on the only two days of this class, Saturday and Sunday.
There were a lot of three day winners in the Girls Club, Annabel Dempsey, Addalyn Hardy, Reese Snover, Remmy Sessa, Mia Reyna, Malia Alvarez, Alexis Alden and Renata Campos-Moreira. The 11 Girls Expert rider, Jemma Tollefson, made a great move in turn one in the Day One Main and was just barely able to keep that lead and go on to win. Ava Beaty won the next two days. In 12 Expert Girls Logan Lee did the same exact thing and after the first straight had a couple of bike length leads on the other riders and won, but Sharick Salguero Chaverra won the next two days. In 13 Expert Girls, rider Mariana Pena repeated the trend and easily won on Day one, but Lily Ashley won the next two days. Addison Thompson won the first two days in 14 Expert Girls, but on Day Three Landon Burian got out front early and fought hard to keep that lead and win. The 17-20 Expert Women had a different winner each day starting with Sierra Samhammer, Rita Fedewa and Esja Shriver. Also having a different winner all three days was 21-30 Expert Women with Mya Ramos, Heather Collman and Devin Murphy all winning in that order. In 31-40 Expert Women Miki Iibata won on Day One and Three, and Taylor Bensinger won on Day Two. Renata Campos-Moreira won all three days in 41-50 Expert Women. In 51 & Over Expert Women Tracy O’Brien won on Day One and Three, there wasn’t a class on Day Two.
The Expert Boys classes also had a lot of three day winners starting with Tomas Tapia, Helmut Svikss, Hutch Griffith, Dylan Myers, Tomas Palmezano, Cedric Cade, Jaime Roberto Quintanilla, Greg Custer, and Renato Silva. In 10 Expert Lorenzo Idarraga won on Days Two and Three, but on Day One he had an incident in the last turn and Grayson Novak won. Pietro Camargo won Friday’s 11 Expert Class, but Karter Hart won Saturday and Sunday. 12 Expert had a different winner each day with Brady Mitschke, Wyatt Christensen and Miguel Goularte winning in that order. Justin WahlJust two months before the World converges on the South Carolina super facility, the US Elite, Under 23, and Junior racers battled their way to a shot at the 2024 USA Cycling National Championship titles. Following the first two days of the weekend’s action, the racers collected their knowledge and race craft to link together the title winning race day.
For the Junior Women battles, the knowledge was an inside line through turn one and the racer was Colorado’s Rita Fedewa. In a best of three total point rounds, Alexis Alden and Rita Fedewa went head to head on the top spots. Alden locked in the early win of the day, however, Fedewa made her speed known in round two, getting under Alden in turn one and leading her and the rest of the class to the line. The Junior Women racing peaked the interest of the crowd knowing it was all or nothing for the two powerhouses. The third round brought their battling speed to the first turn, once again, and the crowd held their breath to see another move. The crowd erupted right on que as Alden and Fedewa bumped elbows and charged to the second straight. Forcing her way back to the Amateur side of the track, the Impact racer, Rita Fedewa, came out on top and continued to lead through the final three straights. Giving everything she could to chase down Fedewa, Alden wasn’t able to track her down, crossing the line in second with Savannah Stokes taking home the third place and final step of the Junior podium.
Sparked by Fedewa’s move the Junior Men locked into the gate and prepared to chase down the Junior top dog, Sean Day. With the Impact boys, Cedric Cade and True Bailey surrounding him in gates one and three, Day’s lap
Mckenzie Gayheart, takes home her third USA Cycling National Championship with Jacy Moore and Keiley Shea on the podium.
was dependent on his gate to first jump power. Doing what El Suave does best, the Factory Fulltilt/Radio ride laid down the horsepower and found himself in the lead down the hill. Cade and Matthew Weerts joined in going two-three into the first turn, while Sean Day felt the open air and looked to hit his marks on every backside to the finishline. While Day was out front, Cade was keeping the WA local honest waiting to make a move of his own. Crossing the line in his wire to wire lap, Day adds another title to his page in the history books topping the podium with Cedric Cade in second and the Supercross BMX ride in third, thanks to the fast second straight by Deegan Brown.
The Junior Men and Women of the day may not have known it at the time, but that Sunday race day was just the beginning of their journey. Names have grown into legends from the Junior National Championships and in just four short years, a LA28 Olympian could be chosen from their motosheets.
From the youngun class, to the racers honing their
their speed to South Carolina from all across the country, a few names peaked the ears of the crowd as key racers for the main event. Riding like a man possesd, PJ O’Brien came to race. Leading multiple laps throughout the entire weekend, O’Brien looked to finish his search for the top spot on Sunday. Lined up over the first jump with Cutter Williams, Trenton Moore, and Weston Meurlot, PJ had the speed and inside line to lead the pack around the first turn. With O’Brien out front and the pivotal third straight coming fast, Cutter Williams knew it was his time to move. Opting for the double manual and swing to the outside down the third straight, Williams dives low, sneaks in a crank, and meets O’Brien on the exit with an elbow in front and title waiting at the finishline. While he was squeezed to the white line, PJ was able to hold on for the second place with Ethan Popovich crossing in third after an impressive comeback through the second and third straights.
While the Men of the Under 23 class raced each other, the Women joined the Elites and battled the top dogs for their sleeves. A class joined together means extra excitement for the fans but an added stress for the ladies of the main event. With 11 time National Champion, Alise Willoughby gearing up for her World
She matched her plate in 2023, but now Alise Willoughby has broken her own record, winning her 12th USA Cycling National Championship.
Championship and Olympic run, a race day with title implications is the perfect place to show her 2024 speed with the up and comers of the class. Laying down fast laps through rounds, we knew she would be hard to beat especially if the rest of the pack lets her get out early. Like she has done many times before, Willoughby powers her No.11 bike to the front with an impressive lead down the first straight. Leaving the rest of the pack to battle themselves through the first turn, Jacy Moore, Daleny Vaughn and Carly Kane link elbows threewide fighting for the low line. While Kane managed to hold her line and come out in second, Vaughn and Moore battled a bit too much pushing Payton Ridenour off track in the chaos. With a lot of clean air infront of her, Alise Willoughby floated her way through the second straight and towed in Kane and Lexis Colby for the Elite Women National Championship podium. Mixed into the battles and the carnage, the Under 23 Women had a battle of their own. Narrowly avoiding the crash in turn one, the Florida girl, Gayheart, came out with only a break check and it was back to the podium for her third Under23 title in a row. Joined by Jacy Moore and Keiley Shea, the ladies showed their ability to battle with the top dogs, gearing them up for the International competition in May.
One final main event stands behind the gate, as the racers of the Elite Men class drop their front wheels into the gate, the Florida BMX fans geared up for a Florida battle. Five out of the eight racers lining the Rock Hill big hill call Florida home and while they may train together during the week, this main event in Rock Hill was a step above their normal sessions. With only one former winner on the gate, four time winner, Corben Sharrah, the American sleeve history book had it’s quill ready to add a name to the list. Through the pro second straight and over the berm jump, it was the Floridian podium taking shape, Kamren Larsen leading on the point, with Jeremy Smith and Zach VanKammen on the charge, it was smooth lines until a butt scuz brought disaster for VanKammen. Getting thrown forward down the landing and compressing his front tire to the point of explosion, VanKammen hit the ground with a bang, collecting his teammate Corben Sharrah in the process. Filling the final spot on the podium was Joey Leto, however, the race wasn’t over for Larsen and Smith. Drag racing to the line and digging for that extra bit of speed, the race came down to the last three junps. Smith opting for the manual over the step up, while Larsen goes manual-on manual-off, Larsen is able to get the extra backside and give a quick lunge for the win by a matter of inches.
Kicking off a spring and summer of big races with the six American Sleeves awarded, the top dogs of the US shift their focus to international racing before returning to the USA BMX Pro Series. Whether they’re racing for Nation points, US titles, or their spot on the Olympic roster, we can’t wait to watch these athletes battle the world throughout the 2024 season!

A beautiful perk of traveling the international circuit is connecting with friends from across the globe and experiencing the local spots and hometown passions. For Stephen Smith and Nic Long, the global connections brought them to an Australian juggernaut, LUX BMX. Located in Queensland, AUS, the rider-owned and operated bike shop has made its brand known over on the US series via Izaac Kennedy and Rico Bearman, but it’s their stunning content that promotes their riders and products that
reach BMX riders across the globe. A one-stop shop for the Aussie locals, their motto of “In LUX We Trust” speaks to the brand’s loyalty to its customers and BMX. With shelves stocked to cover in-store and online orders, the shop’s staff takes pride in supplying top brands to riders in Australia and throughout the BMX world. Co-founders Evan Jaques and Mitch Wood have laid the groundwork for the shop’s success, but it’s head of Race, Bruce Morris, who gives LUX its racing roots. Bruce has been a pivotal piece of the LUX BMX brand, recently seen on track for the New Zealand and Brisbane World Cups. With a team of
content creators and photo studios set up in-house, the LUX BMX crew can highlight the day’s projects and create those eye-grabbing product shots as an extra addition to the BMX buying process. Outside the brick-and-mortar store, the LUX logo has been increasing as the race and freestyle circuits head towards the summer of 2024. From elite racers and freestylers hunting for their spots on the Olympic start list, to freestyle senders hitting the road to film their next video part, they have the confidence to send it’s thanks to the stock of parts LUX has back home. From Josh Dove scorching bowls and trails while on tour with the Fast and Loose boys, Izaac Kennedy burning down the first straight on the World Cup scene, to Natalya Diejm striving for Paris 2024, the LUX brand is being seen on all sides of BMX. The first Regional stop on the 2024 USA BMX Freestyle schedule landed just outside of Palm Springs, California. LaQuinta X were the gracious hosts to this regional comp and their facility did not disappoint.
With the new 4-1-1 qualifying system (4 Digital, 1 Regional and National) for an overall ranking, Regional #1 in LaQuinta check that Regional event for many.
First of all, the facility itself is nothing short of amazing. Magnetti and crew made this event about as smooth as can be. With the amazing concrete park and riders attending from all over the nation, the stoke was high and the riding show some that are on the verge of stardom.
Another first, this event drew the first Woman’s Expert class, where Saige Thunstrom bar-spun her way to an overall first place, beating the GT Bikes dynamic duo of Bethany Hedrick and Jesse Gregory.
If you are looking to vacation near one of California’s most iconic towns (recommend you check out Elvis’ house in Palm Springs) and ride one of the best parks on the West Coast, please tick the box and visit LaQuinta X skatepark. It’s pretty darn amazing.
USA BMX Freestyle Series local and Huffy Bikes #1 rider Huck Kurinsky made the flight to sunny southern California and aged up a class to 9-10 Men. Same result…first place.
Saige Thunstrom won the first ever Woman’s Expert Class. The progression she has made in the last year is mindblowing.

The first Freestyle National of 2024 went down at Premises Park in Tucson, Arizona, on April 13th. Riders from across the nation gathered at the iconic park for good times and great riding.
Things really got brewing Friday evening at the Mongoose Am Jam. Matty Cranmer took the reins and ran multiple foot-down wars and creative jam sessions on some of Premises’ finest obstacles. Everything lead to the box jump jam, which came with a catch - riders couldn’t jump the box! This forced everyone to get innovative and pull out some unique moves.
Competition day heated up quickly and the field was made up of Tucson’s best locals and riders from far and wide looking to stack points toward their overall ranking.
While there were far too many stand-outs to mention, a few highlights included Huck Kurinsky’s backflip barspin attempt. He didn’t quite stick it, but you can tell it’s just a matter of time! Saige Thunstrom and Keir Sirlin dominated the women’s classes and have both progressed a ton since 2023. Tony Erickson and Wil Bisel held it down for the 30+ crowd and showed absolutely no signs of slowing down. Also, Liam Bowersox made his return to the series after being diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and having his BMX future left in jeopardy. Liam landed an epic 540 and showed that he is here to stay!
Competition day wrapped up with the Expert Class, which was packed full of epic shredding. It came down to two local boysAdler Cromer and Victor Peraza - battling it out for top honors. Victor threw down an impressive run that ended with a corked-out frontflip over the hip, but Adler managed to edge him out with great style and a 180 over the box jump midrun.
Congratulations to all of the riders on kicking off the 2024 season in a big way and big thanks to Ian Abbott at Premises Park for hosting another epic event. Next stop - Alliance Skatepark in Grand Prairie, Texas. See you there!
ABOVE: Vance Flanigan has incredible style and kept it extra steezy during his runs.
Cullen Sumner made the trek to Arizona from Kentucky and made it worth his while with moves like this 360 tail whip over the spine.
Huck Kurinsky went down trying a new trick, but still managed to finish in a respectable third with moves like this backflip on the step-up.
Samuelle Moreno with a stylish tire grab over the hip!
BELOW: BMX icon Scotty Cranmer standing amongst a few rad parents shooting some content for his YouTube channel.
Epic hand plant by Adler Cromer straight into the top spot of the Expert Class.
Victor Peraza ended his last run with this corked-out frontflip over the hip. It wouldn’t be a Premises contest without an incredible performance by a Peraza!
Congrats to Saul Moreno and Genuine BMX - 2023 #1 Freestyle Team! Genuine always brings the good vibes and keeps BMX awesome!
Even though he’s a young gun, Bridger Weaver already has one of the best no footed can cans in the game!
In addition to taking second place in his class, Samuelle Moreno was awarded the Double Agent award during the competition, highlighting his prowess both at the park and at the racetrack. Congrats, Sam!
USA BMX and BMX Canada are among the top fundraisers for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Each year, riders gather donations and raise funds for this worthwhile cause. The Race For Life Series was started in 1981 to help a fellow BMXer diagnosed with leukemia.
Please visit USABMXRFL.org to get started earning these fine prizes from BOX Components and SYNDYT.
Each year, every USA BMX track holds a “Race For Life”, with all proceeds going to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Cruising across Interstate 20 and enjoying the Louisiana scenery, the calm cascades into intensity as racers take the exit and enter into the Ike Hamilton Expo parking lot. With Ike standing guard out front, the Cajun Nationals track build patiently waits for gates to drop and National wins to cross the finish line.
As you peruse this layout, you may be struck by the full female presence, a testament to the power and prowess of the ladies in West Monroe. In our search for the best shots to feature the Cajun racing, the PULL BMX staff couldn’t help but notice the abundance of great shots via the Cruiser and Class Girls Club. This gave us the perfect opportunity to showcase the unstoppable speed and skill of the raddest BMX ladies.
That radness was on full display in the Female Pro/ Am when round one hit the track, and a few top racers hit the dirt. Looking to stamp her dominance early, Alexis Alden was met with sandy dirt the Cajun Nationals bring to the table. While it’s perfect for build ing tracks, Alden and Landon Burian found out what was on the other side of that coin. Surviving the round one slide-outs, Makinzie Palmer capitalized on the clean air, locking in an early win for the total point battle. With a round two third place, the stage was set for make-or-break round three.
The Female Pro/Am racers charged to the first jump but after salvaging her hope with a round two win, Alden came unclipped and allowed Burian and Palmer to get out in front of the pack out of turn one. The chase was on, and the Ssquared ride of Makinzie Palmer was on the hunt for the overall win. Stretching to the line, Palmer came out on top, with Alexis Alden salvaging a second and Landon Burian bringing home the overall third place.
It might be the race face but it’s most likely the Minnesota pride helping Bella White to the front of the pack.

Not only taking the challenge, Gilbert conquered it by taking home the Saturday and Sunday 13 rider wins. As Erin Moore, Angela Hale, and Jennifer Bitz impressed us with their dominance, our minds started to add up the wins by racers out of Oklahoma.
Crazy Girl Camdyn Cole came to the Cajun Nationals with a few wins under her belt already, but she wrapped up the week end with a full six-pack to bring back to Yukon BMX. Dubbed the “Most Improved” racer by National Director Chris Luna, Camdyn Cole took charge of the 11-12 Girls Cruiser and 12x Girls racing with wire-to-wire wins from motos to mains. Since we could see her smile from across the restaurant on Friday after her double, it’s safe to say Cole is towing in a great new generation of racers coming out of Oklahoma.
Take another look at the photos filling these pages. The Women of BMX. They’re athletes, racers, friends, and BMX family. They are the future heroes of the sport and the next inspirations for the generation after them. Thank you for the great weekend of racing, ladies. We can’t wait to see what you’ll do next.

Track rebuilds get us excited every time and the change to Raytown BMX has us extra giddy for the racing to come. Ditching their third straight pro set and opting for a big and flowy rythym section linked together with a new third turn and remastered last straight to keep the speed going all the way to the finish line.

Justin WahlThe indoor circuit of the USA BMX National series is almost to its season’s pause as National racers gear up for the spring and summer months of outdoor racing. Before BMXers can stretch their legs to spread out outdoors, there’s still some short track business to take care of. The Great Northwest Nationals in Redmond, OR, brings the BMX family into the First Interstate Bank Center, once again, for a weekend of fast laps, rubbing elbows, and dirt track excitement.
Packed and raked by the USA BMX track crew, the “M” layout featured tight turns and multiple lines, all while testing the fastest amateur’s fast feet down the first straight. Just 35 feet from the gate, the racers of the weekend were met with the start of their fast footed test. Roller, short double, and step up, to set up each racer into their turn one battles showed off the power to skill ratios throughout each class.
When Friday and Saturday’s main events snapped onto the track, Sean Day showed off his power/skill combination, catapulting him to the lead over the first straight double. Day and his FullTilt teammate, Olivia Armstrong, charged to a few top spots in the Pro Open classes, however, the veteran race craft from Jeff Upshaw snagged away a win from the young gun in the Men’s Pro/Am ranks. Going low and grabbing the lead out of turn one, Jeff Upshaw utilized the apron of the turn to take home a win before he heads to Houston for some Pro Series action. Another to show off his fast feet through the first straight was the NorCal local, Tarik Assagai, who took his speed to the Pro/Am and Amateur racing. Taking home the wins in 41-45 Cruiser, 41-45 Expert, Assagai dominated the field thanks to his fast pull pedal and pedal manual capabilities across the first straight obstacles.
Grabbing a six pack of wins during the weekend, Assagai joined a fast crew of racers that did the same while racing in Redmond.
Tenisyn Mckee, Mia Reyna, Heston Novatny, Trenton Paxman, Stephanie Higgins, Angela Hale, and Jennifer Bitz came to the indoor track with Assagai ready to race, but their dominance left them with their arms full of awards. Taking six or more, in Mia Reyna and Trenton Paxman’s case, gave the crowd a clear look at
who put in next level work leading up to the race.
Stacked across the gate, the 17-20x Women also came prepared and gave race fans a show right off the bat. A first round gate of eight featured bar banging action well before the main event, and Kira Boustead was at the helm leading the class around all three days. With the fast Danica Anderson and Mckinzie Palmer chasing Boustead down, a perfect lap was needed to hold off the competition. Locking in the three class wins, Boustead is looking like the one to beat after an early season littered with wins. From a class domination to an all-out battle, the men’s 17-20x class had an evenly matched rack of eight taking to the track.
Making the trip to the West Coast, Ethan Popovich came to continue his indoor speed, however, the Vega speedster, True Bailey, had plans of his own. Splitting the Friday and Saturday wins, the tie breaker came on Sunday with all eyes on gates one and four, the two racers came out even with Tangent racer, Bobby Connelly, onto the first jump. Pushing to the inside, Ethan Popovich got the white line treatment and then some tucking and rolling down the backside, thanks to the soft dirt outside of the white lines. With a crash collecting Connelly and Saturday uninterrupted line out of turn two, True Bailey completes the tie breaker laying down a 23.78 second lap time for the 17-20x Sunday win.
From Vegas to New Mexico, the next all-star of the weekend hit another gear in her training program. Tiny But Mighty, Danica Appenzeller, brought her game face to Redmond, laying down impressive laps in class and cruiser. Up against World No.1 Eliza Newton, former National No.1 Girl Cruiser Brooke Walski, and all the other super-fast competitors, Appenzeller impressed the entire USA BMX crew. We’ve seen breakout weekends before but the Rift/Tangent ride found the secret sauce stepping up her speed causing a boost in confidence as well.
We could go on and on about the West Coast indoor, but the truth is, racing in Oregon is only as great as their local racers. But with speed that claims titles, style that wows crowds, and passion that surpasses fandom, the Great Northwest Nationals are a guaranteed fun racing weekend.
Zak Smith holds off his 16x competition into turn two with Austin Cornbill and Devin Gosnell on his tail.April 12-14, 2024

The USA BMX Foundation and Discovery Lab in Tulsa, OK have partnered to co-develop a 2,000 square-foot museum exhibit experience that explores science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) inherent in BMX. From building a track to engineering technology to gear ratios, STEM shows up at every turn. Making these connections clear and fun will inspire visitors to follow their curiosity and engage with bikes, dirt, and science in a playful, new relevant way.
Through the USA BMX Foundation’s copywritten curriculum, Discovery Lab will “exhibitize” the content, designing interactive experiences that inspire creativity and critical thinking. Once installed, the exhibit will remain at Discovery Lab for 12-18 months before being marketed to travel for up to 10 years to children’s museums and science centers across the nation.
The collaboration between the USA BMX Foundation and the Discovery Lab is being supported by the Hardesty Family Foundation in an effort to advance STEM education in the Tulsa community and beyond. As the exhibit presenting sponsor, the Hardesty Family Foundation has donated a significant amount to make this project possible and will have prominent naming recognition throughout the exhibit and educational materials.
“At the Hardesty Family Foundation, we are big believers in STEM education and handson learning,” said Hardesty Family Foundation Executive Director Michelle Hardesty. “We are proud to support this collaboration between the USA BMX Foundation and Discovery Lab—two excellent organizations working tirelessly to ensure kids have the opportunity to combine learning with fun.”
The missions of the USA BMX Foundation and
the Discovery Lab work in tandem to inspire confidence in youth through STEM education. Ray Hoyt, executive director of the USA BMX Foundation, said, “This partnership will allow children to interact with STEM education principles through a sport they can easily engage with.”
“Not many people connect BMX racing with STEM education right off the bat, and this partnership with the Discovery Lab made possible by the Hardesty Family Foundation will allow more people to understand the connection between the two,” said Ray. “There are so many elements of mechanics, engineering and physics that play into the sport of BMX. This dynamic exhibit will bring to life those aspects of BMX racing in a way that is exciting and fun for children and adults alike.”
The exhibit design and development are currently in progress, which will include 8-10 components that immerse visitors in both racing and freestyle BMX. Elements of the exhibit will include components that help visitors understand:
• Why gear ratios matter
• How helmets work
• Sights, sounds, and reaction times at the starting gate
• The optimal soil composition for a BMX track
• How to build your own bike using different parts and materials
• How to manual a BMX bike
• Build your own track
• Mechanics and tools needed to fix a bike
• And More!
Engineer the perfect ride.
Demonstrate how helmets work.
After the exhibit has been at Discovery Lab for 12-18 months, the exhibit will embark on a nationwide tour for approximately seven to 10 years, stopping at children’s museums and science centers for three-six-month stints.
The traveling exhibit is expected to entertain and educate more than one million individuals throughout its nationwide tour.
“Through this exhibit, we invite everyone to delve into the fascinating science behind BMX, engaging them with interactive experiences that explore safety equipment, track design, racing reaction times and more,” said Executive Director of the Discovery Lab, Ray Vandiver.
The traveling exhibition is still accepting corporate sponsorships at varying levels. Those interested can contact USA BMX Foundation Executive Director Ray Hoyt at 480-961-1903 ext. 170 or ray@usabmxfoundation.org.

Looking for ways to increase your point total??
State Series – With the new rule change…here is what you need to know for your state series. Compete in single point races, (maximum of 8), and keep in mind that these need to be done in the state in which you reside. Effective this year, you will get points based on the finish you earn at the single point races. These points will be awarded using the state point table. As in previous years, the races need to be done by July 15th! The points for the state series table are so close that in a lot of cases it is the single point races that tip the scale.
Gold Cup Series – Riders can earn up to 4 bonus Gold Cup points for the series. For every 2 single point races you participate in on or before August 15th you earn 1 bonus Gold Cup point. You can race at any track in any state to earn the bonus Gold Cup points. It is early enough in the season, so get those races in by August 15th! With the point scale so close between Novice, Inter and Expert…bonus points can shake things up a bit!!
National Series – Riders can earn additional bonus points for single point races ran on or before October 15th. Riders will earn an additional 10 NATIONAL POINTS for each single point race with a maximum of 80 points awarded, (up to 8 single point races). This does NOT apply to CNAG and Canadian National points.
Bonus points are added to your series point total automatically. Keep this in mind when you are looking at points and wonder why a rider may be ahead of you even when your finish was better at the qualifier. The key here is single point races. So get out and support your local trackhit the dirt and have some fun!
