LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT & HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear Pulaski Academy Community,

The 2024-2025 school year was filled with many remarkable moments in the classrooms, on the athletic fields, and in the many programs and activities that enrich the lives of our students each day. All of these opportunities were made possible by the commitment and dedication of our PA community. This Giving Report is devoted to celebrating the highlights of the year and thanking everyone who has generously invested in our school’s mission.

We are delighted to share that the 2024-2025 Annual Fund exceeded the goal of $500,000, raising $520,000 thanks to the unwavering support of families, alumni, faculty, and friends of PA. The western-themed Bruin Bash was a record-breaking, spirited night to gather in celebration of PA while supporting a worthy cause, the PA Endowment. The Pulaski Academy Parents’ Association (PAPA) and Bruin Backers (Athletics Support) were ever-present, strengthening our student programs, Homecoming, Grandparents’ Day, fine arts, and athletic events throughout the year. The spirit and dedication of our incredible donors and volunteers are vital to the success of our school community.

ANNUAL FUND

The Pulaski Academy Annual Fund is an essential part of our school’s tradition of excellence, providing critical support for the programs, resources, and opportunities that enrich every student’s experience. Gifts to the Annual Fund strengthen academics, arts, athletics, faculty development, and more — enhancing what’s possible across campus.

The theme for the 2024–25 Annual Fund campaign was “Every Bruin. Every Day.” It reflected PA’s commitment to supporting and valuing every member of our community. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and the dedicated leadership of Annual Fund Chairs Nichole and Keith McGeorge, we surpassed our $500,000 goal, raising $520,000 for Pulaski Academy!

WINE DOWN WEDNESDAY

Wine Down Wednesday is an annual ladies’ night out event held near the beginning of the school year. It’s a chance for Pulaski Academy moms, grandmothers, and friends to connect and get to know one another in a relaxed setting. Pulaski Academy Parents’ Association

The Pulaski Academy Parents’ Association (PAPA) plays a key role in fostering a supportive and connected school community. Led by president Amelia Lewis and a dedicated team of officers, PAPA organized a wide range of initiatives throughout the 2024-25 school year to show appreciation for faculty and staff, including monthly snacks, Sonic drinks, Thanksgiving pies, Teacher Appreciation Week activities, and more. PAPA’s major fundraiser, the Annual Uniform Resale in August, helped fund all of these efforts. In total, more than 130 volunteers contributed nearly 900 hours of service, demonstrating PAPA’s strong commitment to supporting not only faculty and staff but the entire Pulaski Academy family!

BRUIN BASH

Bruin Bash is Pulaski Academy’s largest annual fundraising event, bringing together parents, alumni, faculty, and friends for an unforgettable evening of fun and philanthropy. This year’s celebration featured a western theme brought to life by a dedicated team of volunteers led by event chair Kelly Stuckey.

Guests enjoyed a wide range of activities including silent and live auctions, live music by Mustache the Band, custom hats from the Brim + Band hat bar, mouthwatering food from Wright’s BBQ, Texas Hold ’Em tables, and much more. Thanks to the generosity of attendees and supporters, the event raised $224,000 for the Pulaski Academy Endowment.

BRUIN BACKERS

The Pulaski Academy Bruin Backers are the school’s athletic booster club, made up of parents, alumni, and volunteers dedicated to supporting all PA athletic programs.

The group raises funds through advertising sales, memberships, and volunteer-run concession stands. Some of the Bruin Backers’ contributions during the 2024–25 school year included new volleyball uniforms, hotel accommodations for tournament travel, professional media day photography for all sports, and a Hudl software package that allows coaches and athletes to review game footage, analyze performance, and create personalized highlights.

The Band Boosters are a dedicated group of parents, staff, and community members who support Pulaski Academy’s band program. Their purpose is to help raise funds, organize events, and provide resources that enhance the band experience for students. By volunteering and coordinating activities, band boosters play a vital role in ensuring the band has the equipment, uniforms, and opportunities needed to succeed and grow. Some of the Band Boosters’ contributions during the 2024–25 school year included purchasing uniform polos and warm-ups for the Upper School pep band; hosting the Region 1 All-Region Jazz auditions; purchasing and organizing desserts, drinks, and decorations for the fall and spring jazz concerts; and organizing Pulaski Academy’s talent show, Bruins on Broadway.

JOHN WILLIS NAMED FINE ARTS DIRECTOR

In January 2025, John Willis was named Director of Fine Arts, a new role that highlights Pulaski Academy’s commitment to expanding and enriching the arts as an essential part of a well-rounded education. With extensive experience in arts education, innovative program development, and community partnerships, Willis brings a dynamic vision to lead the growth of our visual and performing arts programs. His leadership promises to inspire creativity, foster lifelong engagement in the arts, and strengthen connections within our school and beyond.

CHERYL WATTS RETIRES

After 48 remarkable years of service to Pulaski Academy, Cheryl Watts retired in 2024, leaving a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and dedication. As Director of College Placement from 1992 to 2020, she led 28 college trips, visited 70 institutions, and guided 964 juniors through 479 campus tours—traveling more than 100,000 miles to help students make informed decisions about their futures. One of her most lasting contributions, the Junior College Trip, continues to shape students today. In her honor, the Cheryl Watts Fund was established to ensure that students with demonstrated need can take part in this transformative experience each year.
