Dear PA Community, The Annual Report is our way of recognizing the many ways that you strengthen Pulaski Academy through your philanthropic contributions. We want to thank you for everything that you have done to support and strengthen this special School. You may have seen our new tagline “From Here to Anywhere” on our website or on social media. Of course, these words aptly convey the transformative effect that PA has on children’s lives, but they also capture our sense of appreciation for the tremendous philanthropic support that we are so fortunate to receive from trustees, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the School. Your support allows us to move beyond the “here and now” and to continue to strengthen our program and to improve our facilities as we pursue our Mission to inspire students to explore, create, contribute, and achieve. We hope that you enjoy the features and descriptions herein and that you take pride in the community that we continue to build together. Go Bruins! UPPER SCHOOL We are delighted that construction has begun on our new Schueck McCarty Student Commons in the McIntosh Science and Arts Building. Due to the support of the Schueck and McCarty families and fourteen other generous donors, the Commons will occupy the old weight room and lecture hall and will be a beautiful space for our students to have lunch, to catch up on work, and to just relax and connect. This area will be used for the Alumni Reception during Homecoming on November 8, 2019.
The Bruin Backers have funded the renovation of the patio on the southeast corner of Rector field. The new area will increase seating for students during lunch and for fans during games. This renovation will also redirect storm water to avoid flooding in the World Languages and Social Sciences building.
MIDDLE SCHOOL New lockers were installed in the main hallway and are being used by the 6th graders. These were funded by BoxTop collections, Boosterthon, and a gift from the Class of 2023 (this year’s 9th graders). All Middle School students (grades 5–8) have been thrilled to receive school-provided Chromebooks.
LOWER SCHOOL The playground has received significant improvements over the past couple of summers. A poured-in-place surface in the lower portion of the playground provides a soft and attractive play area and now completes the project. This was funded by private donors, 2018’s Readathon and 2019’s Boosterthon proceeds.
PATV was relocated to the Lower School Lobby for a more collaborative, innovative, and immersive experience in broadcasting and communications for our students and families. The PATV curriculum provides a truly unique opportunity for our students to explore the world of broadcast journalism.
EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL The STEAM lab has been significantly upgraded and relocated to the former motor room due to the support of eleven generous donors. The STEAM program is such a valuable part of our curriculum and this move will allow our students to expand their creative minds with additional activities that are innovative and fun! The Motor Room’s soft floor is ideal for children to play and will be suitable for water play and even a little mess.
