Panthers finish second in the 2023 Duck Cup For the third time, PCC Esports competed in the Rotary Club’s annual Duck Cup race, an fundraising event to provide dictionaries and encyclopedias to Pueblo elementary school children. In our previous two attempts, we encountered some challenges. The first time, we reached the finals but narrowly missed winning. The second time, a mechanical malfunction forced us to borrow another participant’s boat and we were unable to secure a victory. This year, however – thanks to our new driver, Matthew Bolderidge, who is also a work-study for the PCC Esports Club – we achieved a remarkable second-place overall finish.
PCC Nintendo Leagues Coming We’re excited to introduce the PCC Nintendo Sports Bowling League, and we invite everyone on campus to get involved. The league is a great way for different departments to come together, have fun, and build community spirit. Best of all, the matches are quick, so you won’t need to dedicate a lot of time.
We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Achievement Unlocked podcast! The podcast, which kickstarted our journey into the world of esports podcasting, returns with Katrina and Mark as hosts. In the revived series, you can expect engaging discussions on a wide range of topics, including gaming, movies, and more. But that’s not all. We have some exciting news to share: the launch of not one, but two new podcasts! Hosted by our very own esports experts, these podcasts will focus on two major topics. The first podcast dives deep into the world of the Dungeon and Dragons. We’ll explore the intricacies of this fascinating game, offering tips, tricks, and strategies for both newcomers and experienced players. The second podcast will immerse you in the world of the equally beloved Magic: The Gathering. You can expect in-depth analysis, expert insights, and valuable guidance to enhance your MTG gameplay. Join us on this exciting journey as we delve into these popular card games and unravel the secrets to success. Stay tuned for more updates!
To join in the fun, all you need is a Nintendo Switch and you’re good to go! Simply head over to our Discord channel to sign up and stay tuned for official start dates and further notifications. We are also launching the PCC Super Smash Bros. League. Keep an eye out for more details on this exciting addition. We invite you to join us to play in these exciting leagues and make this gaming experience memorable.
New to the esports lab
This year, we’re excited to announce a significant expansion of our esports program, thanks to additional funding we secured. We’ve invested in cutting-edge technology to provide our club members with even more opportunities for creativity and engagement beyond video games. Among our new acquisitions are two Ender 3 3D printers, available for club members to craft various in-game items, including joy-con controllers, card game holders, and other esports-related gear. We’re taking our commitment to esports to the next level. In addition, we are planning to install a large digital display in the Student Center to keep the entire campus updated with esports-related information, events, and news. This is part of our ongoing effort to foster community engagement and awareness. Looking ahead, we’re actively working to secure a t-shirt press and vinyl cutter. This will enable us to design personalized t-shirts and jerseys for our Esports Club members, adding a new layer of customization and identity to our community. These new resources are primarily housed in our secondary lab, which serves as a hub for card games, movie screenings, and a relaxed environment where members can enjoy their meals. We’re excited about these developments and the enhanced experience they bring to our esports program.
SoCo Comic Con The PCC Esports Club was actively engaged in the SoCo Comic Con, an event that brought together enthusiasts from the entertainment, AMI (Audio, Music, and Image), and gaming industries.
It provided a unique platform for discussions, product displays, and the opportunity to purchase rare memorabilia from movies and video games that are typically difficult to find. It was a haven for collectors and fans alike.
Community Outreach The PCC Esports Club is dedicated to engaging with the community
PCC Esports recently took part in Centennial High School’s Cyber Scare Security Challenge, organized by Centennial’s Cyber Dogs Club led by John Freeburg. The competition focuses on cybersecurity, with students roleplaying various scenarios requiring good problem-solving skills to solve. The Esports Club was delighted to provide our lab as the venue for this engaging contest. Following the event, students were invited to chill in our two gaming labs, where they enjoyed playing games, delicious pizza and a movie, creating a memorable experience. We were also honored to participate in GOAL Academy’s Rock League Contest.
Horror on the Hoag
PCC’s Esports team made its mark at the Horror on the Hoag event Oct. 27 on the Student Center Courtyard. We organized a booth where our dedicated members eagerly engaged with visitors. Our booth was a hub for all things fun. People could swing by for candy treats for some spooky trick-or-treating or, if they were so inclined, they could learn the ropes of the popular Pokémon card game. It was fantastic to interact with the community and spread the joy of gaming.

Our esports participants are more than just gamers; they are artists, producers, welders, and so much more. Among our esports enthusiasts, we’ve discovered a flourishing community of artists. To support their talents and creativity, the PCC Esports Club has established a dedicated area within our lab. This space allows students to showcase their personal artwork for the public to enjoy. We invite you to visit and experience the remarkable creations on display. Come and witness the artistic side of our esports community. Your visit will be a testament to the diverse talents that make up our club.
