Annual Reports for Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) – June 1 Deadline Each year, Texas IOUs must file a completed annual report with the PUCT no later than June 1. This report demonstrates compliance and your utility’s financial and operational health. If you have not submitted your report, complete it and file it as soon as possible to reduce the risk of non-compliance. As you finalize your report, confirm financial data, system details, and ownership information are complete and accurate. Taking time to review your submission can prevent errors and avoid the need for corrections. Support is available. The Division of Utility Outreach (DUO) can guide you through the process and may provide hands-on assistance for utilities with limited staff or resources. If you need assistance, please contact DUO at DUO@PUC.Texas.gov.
Responding to Requests for Service Timely, consistent responses to service requests are essential for every retail public utility. Whether it’s
new service, reconnections, or transfers, customers rely on clear and reliable processes. Clear, consistent communication builds trust, reduces complaints, and ensures compliance. What to keep in mind • •
Service requests must align with your certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN) and PUCT rules. Requests within your service area should be addressed promptly with clarity on requirements, timelines, and costs.
If service is delayed • •
Consistency matters • •
Apply policies uniformly, including deposits, connection fees, and documentation. Ensure all requirements match approved tariffs.
Explain why service cannot be provided right away due to capacity or infrastructure limits. Share next steps so customers know what to expect.
Stay prepared • •
Keep records of service requests and responses. Documentation helps resolve questions and support PUCT inquiries.
