P83 PARTY A Party in the P83

Live music, zip lines, carnival games, food and the Northwest Valley’s largest beer garden make the P83 Party the perfect way to usher in Spring Training.

This entertainment extravaganza is hosted at the beginning of Spring Training by the City of Peoria and local businesses. The block party takes place along the 83rd Avenue P83 Entertainment District adjacent to Peoria Sports Complex and promises games, giveaways and good times for partygoers of all ages.

With national headlining recording artists such as Candlebox and a bevy of local bands, the P83 Party blasts a memorable beat and ensures a thrilling start to the baseball season.

BATTER UP! Peoria: A Heavy Hitter in Spring Training Peoria Sports Complex, home of the San Diego Padres and Seattle

Mariners, is widely considered one of the country’s premier baseball facilities; it is among the top-drawing Spring Training venues in the Cactus League.

A cornerstone of Peoria’s Entertainment District, the complex boasts twelve Major League-sized practice fields, two 40,000-square-foot clubhouses, indoor/outdoor batting tunnels and cages, and a main stadium with seating for more than 11,000 fans and lawn seating to boot.

TIMELESS TRADITIONS Bravo Peoria! In celebration of literature and learning, the City of Peoria and Friends of the Peoria Public Library host Bravo Peoria! every year in March at Sunrise Mountain Library. Part of the Peoria Public Library system, which serves the communities of north Peoria and the surrounding area, Sunrise Mountain is located next the future Camino á Lago Park, opening late 2013.

A free one-day festival of sorts, Bravo Peoria! kicks off with the Friends of the Peoria Public Library Book Sale to raise much-needed funds in support of Sunrise Mountain Library and the city’s Main Library located at the Peoria Municipal Complex.

This showcase of family fun features an array of activities for children, teens and adults, including classes on e-readers and digital downloads, children’s crafts, face painting, tattoos and balloon making.

ALL AMERICAN FESTIVAL Music, fireworks and family fun!

The City of Peoria hosts a July 4th All American Festival each year in celebration of Independence Day. This family-friendly affair features everything from fireworks, F-16 flyovers and food to concerts, games and water activities for kids of all ages.

Held at Peoria Sports Complex, event highlights include a footlong hot dog eating contest, face painting, rock wall climbing and one of the Valley’s largest and most spectacular fireworks displays.

OLDTOWN PEORIA

Peoria’s Oldtown Holiday Festival, held annually in either late November or early December, spreads enough holiday cheer to put even Ebenezer Scrooge in the spirit of the season. From cookie decorating and caroling, to wagon rides, shopping, and a visit from Jolly Old Saint Nick himself, this party provides the perfect start to the holidays.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park, a crown jewel of the city, is an oasis in the desert boasting more than 10,000 acres of water, two marinas, and boat and watercraft rentals galore. Add that to an extensive trail system, archaeological sites, gliding lessons at the esteemed Turf Soaring School and more. The park is an unparalleled pathway to desert exploration and recreation.

Yet, outdoor adventures aren’t limited to the great outdoors.

In fact, the city boasts a bevy of urban outdoor experiences at its many neighborhood parks, city pools and the expansive Rio Vista Community Park & Recreation Center, a robust indoor/outdoor facility featuring everything from splash pads and skate parks to racquetball courts, climbing walls and much more. Pioneer Community Park is scheduled to open late fall 2013 and will feature six lighted sports fields for baseball and softball, four lighted multipurpose fields, a splash ground and playground, fishing lake, and picnicking areas.
