Heimtextil (Frankfurt/Main, del 13 al 16 de enero) será una buena piedra de toque para ver por dónde van los tiros. Por nuestra parte ponemos toda la carne en el asador y ofreceremos reportajes, novedades, nuevas colaboraciones y mucha información que gana enormemente en circulación gracias a la versión electrónica de la revista.

With this issue of Textiles para el Hogar we finish with a year to make way for another, 2010, which in some environments may be that one of the economic recovery. Heimtextil (Frankfurt/ Main, 13 to 16 January) will be a good test to see how things can be. For our part we’ll put all the meat on the grill and offer stories, news, new collaborations and a lot of information that will increase its circulation thanks to the electronic version of the magazine.

uantas más dificultades de venta, más tenemos que agudizar nuestro ingenio para embaucar más a un potencial público comprador…

Estamos agotando las posibilidades tradicionales de reclamo, como sería la de los grandes carteles con espectaculares cifras de descuento en los escaparates, para convencernos de si estamos ante una oferta excepcional o no.

Seguramente que por haber abusado de la tergiversación de estas cifras indicadoras del ahorro prometido y no percibido, ya que algunas han sido aplicadas sobre precios hinchados anteriormente al respecto u otras técnicas para enmascarar y engordar resultados no efectivos, hemos inventado recientemente, debido al momento económico actual, otros “cebos” con una picaresca mucho más sutil y rocambolesca, con la ayuda hipnótica que puede derivarse del juego y la diversión.

Hay, por ejemplo, una cadena de electrodomésticos que ofrece un descuento en ciertos productos, de tantos euros como la altura del cliente expresada en centímetros… otros, unos grandes almacenes descuentan 30 euros a una compra igual o superior a 99… hay quien sigue utilizando el “dos por uno” pero en artículos homólogos… hay quien regala entradas a espectáculos… pagan parkings… noches de hotel… sorteos de viajes, etc.

Muchos de estos susodichos “cebos” tienen la pretensión de ser más atractivos que un descuento “normal”, resultando ser a menudo, mucho más baratos para los comerciantes que los que ofrecen en forma de tanto por ciento. Todo ello parece

ser fruto de continuos estudios de marketing en los que se refleja, cada vez más, que el público ha ido perdiendo propiedad en la comparación de precios y de calidades como h a b í a podido tener antaño, cuando la oferta –cuantitativa y cualitativa– era mucho menor y no existía, consecuentemente, un packaging tan perfeccionado como para embelesar hasta disfrazar por completo cualquier producto.

Así hemos llegado al punto en que muchas empresas ya no se plantean la creación de productos si no están dentro de unos parámetros muy estrictos de precio asequible, presentación golosamente apetitosa, moda, fácil transporte y una adecuada exposición que facilite en gran manera la accesibilidad del comprador.

Todo ello, frecuentemente, a costa de un detrimento significativo de calidad, utilidad y “belleza del artículo” –no así de su envoltorio–.

Otra consecuencia implícita al concepto global del “gigante” de la sociedad de consumo, es que al igual que ha logrado “despistar” al público, lo ha hecho también con muchos comerciantes que no han sabido o no han podido reciclarse al ritmo de la evolución mercantilista. Resultado de todo ello, es, por poner uno, la mezcla desorientadora de productos de tan diferente gama que se ofrecen, muchas

veces, en una misma tienda, casi siempre con la excusa de poder tener a la vista un “caramelo” con el que hacer entrar al transeúnte, ya que parece que estemos en la época del “regalo” y del consumidor de “ofertas”... –poca gente entra hoy en un supermercado sin buscarlas–.

Por último y a riesgo que pueda parecer contradictorio, debo decir que mi concepto de lo caro se fundamenta en el exceso del precio que un producto pueda tener respecto de su calidad y de los márgenes comerciales habituales, desvinculado totalmente de su presentación al mercado. Hay productos caros dentro de los parámetros de los que hemos comentado y productos baratos que a primera vista pueden parecer caros.

he tougher selling gets, the sharper our wits have to be in order to dazzle our potential buyers... our capacity to convince them that what we are offering truly is unbeatable, using traditional methods such as windows with giant-size posters offering irresistible discounts, is fast drying up.

Its probably our distortion of these figures hinting at savings that are then not actually perceived – as some have been applied to previously inflated prices or other techniques used to disguise and blow up the real results, together with the current economic situation, that has led us to come up with alternative, far more subtle yet bizarre ‘draws’, helped by the hypnotising effect of fun and games.

For instance, there’s a chain of electrical goods retailers that offers discounts on certain products equivalent in euros to the customer's height in centimetres... in turn, a department store is offering a discount of 30 euros on any purchase of 99 euros or more... there are those that continue to resort to the classic own 'two for the price of one' albeit on the same items... others are giving away free tickets to a show... pay your parking costs... nights in hotels... holiday prize draws, etc.

The aim of many of these draws is to exert a greater pull than standard discounts and they are often a far cheaper option for retailers than offering a certain percentage off the price. They all appear to be the result of ongoing market research that reveals that the general public is steadily losing their ability to compare prices and quality –something that was clearly easier when the supply (both in

quantitative and qualitative terms) was far lower and packaging lacked its current capacity to dazzle us to the extent that it conceals the true nature of the product beneath.

It’s now come to the point where many companies no longer contemplate creating new products that fail to comply with a series of strict parameters; namely a reasonable price, packaging that will knock your eyes out, fashion, easy transportation and the right type of display that guarantees easy customer accessibility. And all this is often in detriment to a sharp fall in quality, usefulness and the ‘beauty’ of the actual product - but not the packaging.

Another implicit consequence of the global concept of the ‘giant’ of consumer society is that it has not only managed to ‘blur’ the public’s vision, but also that of many retailers who are unsure or unable to keep up with the rapid pace of commercial development. One of the many results of this is the alltoo-common and totally baffling product mix on offer in a single store, almost always under the excuse of offering passersby a ‘carrot’ that will draw them inside. We would appear to be experiencing a kind of ‘give-away frenzy’ and consumers have become obsessed with snapping up the best offers; practically everyone that enters a supermarket today is on the lookout for bargains.

Finally, and at the risk of contradicting myself, I have to say that my idea of ‘expensive’ is based on the

absence of value for money and the traditional retail margins, which have little or nothing to do with the way they are presented on the market. Es un producto basado en el extracto de aceites esenciales de neem, que es una planta conocida desde la antigüedad y cuyos beneficios, después de los estudios realizados, han superado todas nuestras expectativas.

Bio-Neem no solo es un potente acaricida, sino también insecticida; la azadiractina, que es un principio activo presente en la planta del neem, es también un inhibidor del crecimiento y la fecundidad de los insectos, además de ser un antialimentario y potente repelente, tanto de los

ácaros como de todo tipo de insectos. Dicho de una manera más coloquial, no deja que las bacterias se reproduzcan en la ropa y por tanto ayuda a controlar también, y es un aspecto muy a tener en cuenta, el mal olor de las prendas tratadas.

El funcionamiento del producto es muy sencillo. Simplemente hay que introducir la toallita en el tambor de su lavadora junto con toda la colada. En la inquietud de ayudar al consumidor, realizamos diferentes estudios de cómo presentar el producto, y vimos que con las toallitas facilitábamos mucho el consumo del producto, y sobre todo el trabajo de las amas de casa.

La composición de Bio-Neem es principalmente el extracto de neem, y una pequeña parte de citronela y aloe vera. Estas dos últimas son dos plantas muy conocidas por el público, que por sus más que sabidas propiedades complementan y perfeccionan la fórmula del producto.

Como he dicho es un biocida para uso textil, por tanto, sus aplicaciones son para el tratamiento de cualquier producto textil. Se puede aplicar tanto a nivel doméstico, en el lavado, como en uso industrial. En este campo, tenemos presentaciones diferentes del producto, en más cantidad, para poder aplicarlo en lavanderías industriales, empresas de limpieza, etc.

Bio Neem nace de la continua inquietud de Aupa Hogar por aportar a sus productos un valor añadido, solucionando problemas reales y mejorando la calidad de vida de los usuarios. En Aupa Hogar, nos dedicamos desde hace 25 años, a productos textiles para la cama, principalmente, a las fundas y protectores de colchones.

Hasta la fecha, esto se ha solucionado con productos químicos, algunos de ellos muy conocidos por el gran público, con una eficacia relativamente aceptable y con el inconveniente de una posible reactividad por parte de los usuarios más sensibles. Aupa Hogar pretendía conseguir un efecto superior y además con productos naturales e inocuos y es aquí donde aparece Bio-Neem,

primero como prestación añadida a nuestros productos y segundo como algo útil independiente aplicable a la ropa tanto de hogar como de vestir.

AITEX ha tenido un papel clave en el proceso de homologación y patente del producto. Después de comunicarles nuestra inquietud, iniciamos un proceso de estrecha colaboración para el desarrollo del producto, y poder conseguir todas las certificaciones necesarias para un producto de estas características. Durante el proceso, y como un equipo, pudimos ir perfeccionando el producto, para cumplir con las expectativas del consumidor.

h a t i s B i o - Ne e m a n d w h at is i t fo r ?

We technically define Bio-Neem Home as a 100% natural biocide, of prolonged effect, for textile use.

This product is based on the extract of essential oils of neem, which is a plant known since antiquity, and after all the studies realised, we found that their profits have exceeded all our expectations.

Bio-Neem is not only a powerful miticide but an insecticide.

Azaridachtin is a chemical compound found in the plant of neem and it is an insect growth and fecundity inhibitor, as well as an antifeedant and a powerful insect and dust mites repellent. In a colloquial manner, it does not let bacteria to reproduce in clothes, so it also helps to control the bad smell

of treated garment, something really important to bear in mind.

It is very simple. Simply enter the wet wipe into the drum of your washing machine, along with the laundry. It is of our concern to help the consumer and we made different studies to see what the best way to present the product was. We found that with the wet wipes, we made the use of the product much easier, especially for the housemaids.

small part of citronella and aloe vera. The latter two plants are well-known to the public due to their properties and they complement and refine the product formulation.

In w h a t ar e a s c a n it b e u se d ?

As we mentioned before, it is a biocide for textile use so its applications are the treatment of any textile product. It can be applied to domestic use, to the laundry, and to industrial use. In this area, we have different presentations, in great quantities, to apply the product to industrial laundries, cleaning companies, etc. We are now studying the possibility of its application to carpets and other kind of surfaces.

– Bio-Neem appeared from the constant interest of Aupa Hogar in giving an added value to its products by solving real problems and improving our users’ quality of life. In Aupa Hogar we have worked for textile products for beds for 25 years, especially for mattress covers and protectors.

The market requires protective textile products free from dust mites. Up to date, this problem has been solved by chemical products. Some of them were well known to the public but they had a relative effectiveness and the disadvantage of a possible reactivity by the most sensitive users. Aupa Hogar wanted to get a better effect with natural and innocuous products. Here BioNeem appears, firstly as an added performance for our products and secondly as something useful on its own, both for home textiles and for apparel.

Empresa dedicada al acabado de piezas textiles de género de punto y muy expuesta a la grave situación del textil de nuestro país, logra posicionarse en un lugar en el mercado, gracias al estudio constante de sus procesos productivos y la eficacia de los mismos.

Contamos con una depuradora biológica que nos ayuda a devolver al río el agua, limpia, que consumimos en nuestra planta. La disminución de los valores de DQO de los productos que utilizamos, así como el garantizar a todos nuestros clientes el uso sólo de sustancias permitidas por la reglamentación REACH, son algunos de los compromisos que adoptamos para la ayuda al consumo interno y para potenciar el valor añadido de los artículos de nuestros clientes.

Laminats Orient, S.L., nació en 1999 de la necesidad que tenían los clientes de Tintes Orient, S.A., de acabar sus artículos en nuestras instalaciones, ya que valoraban muy positivamente el carácter familiar de nuestra empresa.

Las microcápsulas, llamadas Outlast® Thermocules®, albergan sustancias parecidas a la parafina y que son capaces de cambiar de fase.

A brand new development of the PCM market leader Outlast and the Belgian velours specialist Microfibres produce relief – both companies have launched the first climate control fabric for upholstery and office chairs.

Originally Outlast® technology was developed for NASA to protect astronauts against the extreme temperature fluctuations in the space. Now, phasechange materials (PCM) are utilized for the first time also for upholstery fabrics.

They work actively and dynamically to balance temperature changes.

The result: a significantly higher sitting comfort. The Microfibres collection “Wellgonomics” is especially developed for high-class manufacturers of upholstery and office chairs. The PCM technology But what are PCMs? The principle is simply demonstrated. Looking at phase change materials (PCM) two wellknown technologies are successfully combined: On the one hand is the microencapsulation, as known from the chewing-gum inside which microcapsules are embedded. While chewing the shell is destroyed, and the taste is released. Another example: perfume probes in magazines. The microcapsules being destroyed while rubbing on the paper, as the smell is released.

The difference in Outlast® materials: microcapsules are also used, but the shell is stable and doesn’t get destroyed.

The capsules are very tiny: Around 1,000 fit on the head of a pin (ca. 3 million per cm2). Inside the patented microcapsules, called Outlast® ® Thermocules , substances similar to paraffin are stored, which are capable of phase change. This simple physical principle is well-known to everyone, example H2O: water becomes vapour or ice when energy is added or taken away.

PCM technology takes advantage of exactly this same law of physics. The advantages of Outlast® Adaptive Comfort® products on a glance:

N o t i c i a s Nanimarquina abre su primera tienda Nanimarquina, empresa que diseña y edita alfombras, abrió el 10 de diciembre su primera tienda, en Barcelona.

La particularidad de este espacio es la contextualización de la marca a través de una exposición completa de sus alfombras y complementos textiles, así como de objetos singulares. La tienda cuenta con una selección de artículos exclusivos de varios países, pequeños tesoros con un encanto especial que la diseñadora y su equipo han descubierto en sus viajes por Asia, África y Sudamérica; objetos artesanales que son el hilo conductor de las colecciones de nanimarquina, como cestos, telas, tacitas, mantas, cojines o teteras que han significado el punto de partida e inspiración de los diseños de la marca.

Situado en la intersección Diagona l/ Rosellón, centro neurálgico del diseño en la Ciudad Condal, el local era un parquing del que se han conservado algunos detalles. Sus 750 m2 se dividen en tres niveles. La reforma es del arquitecto Robert Pallí, con el asesoramiento del equipo nanimarquina. Su interiorismo presenta un estilo actual basado en el contraste entre modernidad y tradición. La recuperación de elementos y el reciclaje están presentes en el mobiliario e interiorismo de la tienda. Cajas de madera transformadas en expositores o mobiliario rescatado de anticuarios forman parte de la decoración del local.

La tienda está concebida como un punto de encuentro entre la marca y el usuario, donde nanimarquina pretende adaptarse a los nuevos comportamientos del consumidor final, cada vez

más experto y más exigente en cuanto a información técnica. Nanimarquina se abre así al diálogo y asesoramiento con el profesional del interiorismo.

La puesta en marcha de este ambicioso proyecto responde a dos visiones estratégicas complementarias impulsadas por Nani Marquina y su hija Maria Piera, directora Comercial de la empresa: “Nuestro objetivo es fomentar el diálogo entre los creativos de la marca y el consumidor final a través de la creación de un observatorio de ideas. Esta tienda nos permitirá transmitir de forma directa nuestros valores”, dice Nani, que aparece en una de las fotos junto a su hija Maria.

Nanimarquina opens its first store Nanimarquina, the company which designs and edits carpets, opened its first store in Barcelona on December 10th.

The special feature of this space is the contextualization of the brand through a full statement of its carpets and textile accessories, as well as its singular objects.

The store has a selection of exclusive items from several countries, small treasures with a special charm the designer, together with her team, have discovered in their travels through Asia, Africa and South America. They are handcrafted objects which are the leitmotif of Nanimarquina collections, as baskets, cloth, cups, blankets, pillows or teapots that have represented the starting point and the inspiration for the brand designs.

The store is located at the intersection Diagonal / Rosselló, the centre of design in Barcelona. The building was a parking area and some of its former details have been preserved. Its 750 m2

are divided in three levels. The reform was carried out by the architect Robert Pallí, advised by nanimarquina team.

The interior design has a modern style based on the contrast between modernity and tradition. The recovery and recycling of elements are present in the furniture and the interior of the store.

Wooden boxes transformed into displays or saved from antique furniture are part of the decoration of the premises.

The store is designed to be a meeting point between the brand and the user.

There, nanimarquina seeks to adapt to new behaviours of the end-user, who is wiser and more demanding in terms of technical information. Nanimarquina opens for dialogue and advice with the interior design professional.

The launch of this ambitious project serves two complementary strategic visions driven by Nani Marquina and her daughter Maria Piera, Business Director of the company: "Our aim is to encourage creative dialogue between the brand and the end-user through the creation of an observatory of ideas. MAISON & OBJET, DEL 4 AL 8 DE SEPTIEMBRE EN PARÍS Maison & Objet cerró su última edición con estabilidad y serenidad, dos palabras que la caracterizan.

stabilidad tanto por el número de expositores (3.144), como por el de visitantes, que pese una ligera baja (–0,7%) logra la cifra global de 71.914 profesionales.

Serenidad para el futuro, ya que las ventas han sido prudentes y las posibilidades de negocio a la vista de numerosos expositores presagian una vuelta al crecimiento para el principio de 2010.

Seis pabellones responden a preguntas en temas de estilo, objetos, accesorios para cada ambiente. La casa permite explorar la individualidad de cada lugar con los signos de la cultura y estilo de vida particular de su habitante.

Se reafirma por tercer año consecutivo el fenómeno del sector

outdoor. La producción destinada a mobiliario de exterior está en plena ebullición y se trabaja con una amplia variedad de técnicas. La oferta “outdoor” se enriquece por las propuestas de los líderes de mobiliario de alta gama, ya no concierne únicamente a editores especializados.

“ReGeneration”, se realiza a través del desarrollo de tres espacios situados en el “pasillo privilegiado” por el tránsito de visitantes entre los pabellones 1, 2 y 3, con tres temas elegidos por los miembros del Observatorio de Maison & Objet para inscribirse resolutivamente en el siglo XXI.

La feria insiste en su línea de comunicación de la innovación.

Creatividad aplicada (a los diversos sectores) en diseño, materias, acabados y nuevos productos.

Diferentes eventos realizados en los pabellones amplían la posibilidad de información y cultura de diseño que la feria oferta bajo su tutela.

Se nos suponen valores y capacidades; para reconstituirnos con la facultad de crear e imaginar un concepto innovador en el que el hombre y las cosas encuentren su justo emplazamiento.

MAISON & OBJET, 4th-8th SEPTEMBER IN PARIS The latest edition of Maison & Objet, came to a close with stability and serenity, two of its intrinsic characteristics.

The outdoor sector has confirmed its status as a phenomenon for the third consecutive year. The outdoor furniture production sector is on the boil, and working with a wide variety of techniques. The outdoor section is enriched by leading creators of fine furnishings, and is not limited to specialist brands.

The fair continues to be a showcase for innovation and creativity applied (to different sectors) in design, materials, finishes and new products. The different events staged in the halls are a further opportunity to share the information and design culture available at the fair.

trend book "ReGeneration", takes place in three areas based on 21st century themes chosen by members of the Maison & Objet Observatorie situated in the "privilege aisle" which visitors use to walk between halls 1, 2 and 3.

They suggest values and abilities for reconstruction with the ability to create and imagine an innovative concept in which man and objects find their correct locations.

Maison & Objet sees creativity as the best way to sustain the interior design market.

N o t i c i a s El sector de textil hogar facturó casi 24 millones de euros en julio gracias a las rebajas en el canal híper El sector de textil hogar, que tiene un peso aproximado del 20% en facturación de acuerdo con los datos del GfK Fashion Life Report (que abarca Calzado, Ropa, Textil hogar y Accesorios y complementos), sufrió una bajada en julio de aproximadamente el 16 % frente al mismo periodo del año anterior.

El área más perjudicada fue el de la ropa de baño, con una caída del 20,5%, siendo dicha categoría la de menor importancia dentro del textil hogar y mostrando una marcada estacionalidad veraniega gracias a las toallas de playa.

El segmento más importante continúa siendo la ropa de cama, que representa más o menos un 40% de la facturación del total de este sector. Dentro del mismo, el producto estrella son las sábanas, que son las más vendidas dentro de esta categoría pero cuya venta descendió un –3,3% en el periodo de julio de 2008 a julio de 2009.

Por último, dentro de la categoría de textil salón/comedor, que supone un 30% en facturación, los artículos más relevantes fueron los tapetes y las alfombras, que entre ambos sumaron aproximadamente un 40% de las ventas de la categoría y cuyo descenso en ventas en el periodo estudiado fue del –9,41%.

The Home Textile Sector Made a Turnover of Almost 24 Million Euros in July, Thanks to Hypermarket Sales The home textile sector, which accounts for about 20% of the textile sector’s total turnover according to data from the GfK Fashion Life Report (which covers footwear, clothing, home textiles, accessories and complementary items), saw a drop of about 16% in its turnover in July compared with the same period last year.

The product category that suffered the most was bath linen, which fell by 20.5%. Bath linen is the least relevant home textiles category, characterized by a strong seasonality in summer thanks to sales of beach towels.

Bedding continues to be the leading product category, accounting for approximately 40% of the home textile sector’s total turnover. The star product in this category and its most widely sold item are sheets. Even so, sales of sheets dropped by 3.3% between July 2008 and July 2009.

Finally, within the category of textiles for lounges and dining rooms, which represents 30% of the total turnover, the most relevant items were tablemats and rugs. AIDO investiga nuevas tintas basadas en nanopigmentos

AIDO Investigates New Inks Made of Nanopigments

Las tintas empleadas habitualmente en los procesos de impresión contienen metales pesados y residuos contaminantes. En la búsqueda de una alternativa respetuosa con el entorno, el Instituto Tecnológico de Óptica, Color e Imagen (AIDO), en colaboración con la Universidad de Alicante, está investigando el desarrollo de tintas de impresión basadas en nanopigmentos, es decir, compuestas por arcillas especiales y colorantes orgánicos ecológicos.

Los nanopigmentos aplicados a la impresión offset incorporan colores luminosos y fuertes, proporcionan una alta resistencia a la radiación, temperatura, oxígeno, elementos químicos, así como al deterioro producido por su exposición a la intemperie, con lo que aumenta su duración.

Otro objetivo de este proyecto es la creación de una cadena de diseño y optimización del proceso de impresión offset que incluya en un futuro este tipo de tintas para conseguir su rápida incorporación a las empresas de artes gráficas.

El proyecto, denominado Nanoffsetinks, cuenta con la financiación del IMPIVA y está cofinanciado por el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional.

The inks used habitually in printing processes contain heavy metals and pollutant waste materials. In a search for a new environmentally-friendly alternative, in collaboration with Alicante University, AIDO (the Optics Colour Imaging Technological Institute) is investigating the development of printing inks made with nanopigments; that is, made of special clays and eco-friendly organic colorants.

The nanopigments that will be used in offset printing stand out for their strong luminous colours and high resistance to radiation, temperature, oxygen, chemicals and atmospheric agents, all of which increase the inks’ life.

Another objective of the project is to create an offset printing design and optimization chain to include this kind of ink in the future so that it can be swiftly adopted by graphic arts businesses.

N o t i c i a s Vicente Aznar, nuevo presidente de ATEVAL La Junta General de la Asociación de Empresarios Textiles de la Comunidad Valenciana, ATEVAL, eligió por unanimidad a Vicente Aznar nuevo presidente en su sesión del 11 de noviembre.

Aznar, que se define como empresario, es además profesor mercantil y PDG promoción 87 del IESE y un hombre con una amplia experiencia en el asociacionismo empresarial. Actualmente es presidente del Instituto Tecnológico Textil (AITEX), consejero de la Escuela de Negocios de la Fundación ESTEMA, miembro del Instituto de Empresa Familiar Valenciana, componente del Comité Ejecutivo de la Confederación Empresarial Valenciana y miembro de la Junta Rectora de la Casa de la Caridad de Valencia.

Aznar fue durante muchos años representante del Comité Organizador de Feria Valencia y, por otra parte, fundador y presidente del grupo Ethica-Tex, formado actualmente por 28 empresas asociadas a ATEVAL y que tiene como finalidad velar por la protección de la propiedad intelectual industrial y las prácticas de fair trade. Además, su empresa Aznar Textil es un claro exponente internacional del textil-hogar español. Con sede social en Paterna y diferentes plantas industriales en la provincia de Valencia, es una de las de mayor tradición en el sector; recientemente celebró su 128º aniversario.

En su discurso de aceptación del cargo el nuevo presidente de ATEVAL realizó un análisis pormenorizado de la situación por la que atraviesa el sector textil afirmando que “como consecuencia de la globalización, las ya tradicionales tensiones que vive el sector textil se han agravado de forma notabilísima y se refuerzan con la crisis financiera y económica que padecemos”.

Tal situación obliga a plantearse el reto de mejorar la competitividad de las empresas textiles valencianas en todos los ámbitos. Para alcanzar tal fin, el presidente electo presentó un plan estratégico, que ya había sido aprobado previamente por el Comité Ejecutivo de la Asociación y que en palabras de Aznar supone “un equilibrio entre objetivos de mejora y objeti-

Vicente Aznar, New Chairman of ATEVAL The General Board of the Asociación de Empresarios Textiles de la Comunidad Valenciana, ATEVAL (Association of Textile Businessmen from Valencian Community), appointed Vicente Aznar unanimously as the new chairman in its session on 11 November.

Aznar, who defines himself as a businessman, is also a Commercial and PDG (CEO programme) Teacher of IESE, class of 87. Nowadays he is chairman of the Instituto Tecnológico Textil (Textile Technologic Institute) AITEX, Counsellor of the Escuela de Negocios (Business School) for Fundación ESTEMA, member of the Instituto de Empresa Familiar Valenciana (Insitute of Valencian Family Business), member of the Executive Board of the Confederación Empresarial Valenciana (Valencian Business Confederation) and member of the Governing Board of the Casa de la Caridad de Valencia (House of Charity of Valencia).

Aznar was, for a long time, representative of the Organizing Committee of Feria Valencia (Valencia Trade Fair), as well as chairman and founder of Ethica-Tex group, currently made up of 28 companies in partnership with ATEVAL. It is aimed at taking care of the protection of industrial intellectual property and fair trade practices. Furthermore, his company, Aznar Textil, is an unquestionable international representative of the Spanish home-textile. It is one of the most

The new chairman of ATEVAL realized a detailed analysis on the textile industry situation in his acceptance speech: “Due to the globalization process, the traditional tensions of the textile industry have worsened in a very remarkable manner and they reinforce with the financial and economic crisis that we are suffering”.

This situation makes us consider the challenge of improving the competitiveness of the Valencia textile companies in all areas. In order to achieve this aim, the elected chairman presented a strategic plan that had been previously approved by the Executive Board of the Association. For Aznar it is “a matter of balance between improvement targets and innovative targets; a balance between searching excellence in design and in ATEVAL services management and the good governance of the Association as an instrument for the industry. At the same time, this plan holds a greater efficiency in our dialogue with public administrations, the rest of economic and social agents, and society as a whole”. This strategic plan was also renewed by the General Board.

In his speech to the Board, Aznar summarized the three central themes of his presidency: the execution and implementation of this plan, the development of an effective defence for the textile industry interests and the adequacy of the government bodies of ATEVAL for the achievement of the previous two objectives. w w w .a t e v a l .c o m

N o t i c i a s Presentada una sábana con propiedades regenerantes para la piel Unos dos años de investigación es el tiempo que han tardado Aznar Textil y el Instituto Tecnológico Textil en investigar y desarrollar la sábana Zazen® con propiedades regenerantes para la piel. La sábana, que incorpora quitina, contribuye a regenerar la piel de las heridas y a neutralizar procesos bacterianos, por lo que favorece el proceso correcto de cicatrización.

• El segundo grupo lo formaban pacientes a los que se les informó de que se les colocaba una sábana bajera diferente a las que se utilizan en el hospital, que se mantendría por un periodo de 48 horas, a no ser que por cualquier circunstancia se tuviesen que cambiar. Después se les preguntó sobre el producto, calificándolo todos los participantes como excelente.

Cuando una persona está en cama o en silla de ruedas durante mucho tiempo, la piel y los tejidos subyacentes se pueden romper y provocar llagas o úlceras en los puntos de presión; estas llagas y úlceras son difíciles de tratar y de curación lenta. La sábana ha sido diseñada para estos escenarios como ayuda al tratamiento.

Las propiedades de la sábana regeneradora se deben a dos factores: la utilización de fibras de quitina (factor esencial) y el novedoso diseño estructural del tejido.

La quitina forma parte del caparazón de determinados crustáceos y moluscos y de las paredes celulares de los hongos.

Es un compuesto que se extrae de la naturaleza y que aporta una gran cantidad de beneficios para el ser humano.

Un derivado de la quitina, el quitosano, presenta las características más útiles. La estructura molecular del quitosano es muy similar a la de la celulosa (base estructural del algodón), lo que demuestra las posibilidades que este biopolímero ofrece como fibra en el sector textil. Además, los textiles fabricados con este polímero poseen unas propiedades de confortabilidad excelentes.

N o t i c i a s Esloúltimo: el marketing simbiótico El 16 de octubre abrió en el centro de Barcelona un comercio singular, donde la compra cuesta (prácticamente) cero euros.

Se llama esloúltimo y su lema es “innovaciones y muestras gratis”. Y esto es lo que ofrece. Los clientes abonan una cuota semestral de 5 euros y pueden pasar por la tienda cada quince días para llevarse un máximo de cinco productos diferentes (véase al nota al final), que no podrán repetir en lo sucesivo. ¿Qué hay en los estantes de este peculiar establecimiento? De momento poco textil, la verdad (¿quién será el primero en animarse?). Pero sí comestibles, cosmética, limpieza y algunos artículos tecnológicos (en exposición). El día de la presentación había en total unas 50 referencias. Se trata de ofrecer al consumidor productos nuevos, incluso en preparación, para que los conozca y pruebe. A cambio se genera, entre otras cosas, visibilidad de las novedades, opinión y transmisión de conocimientos entre los consumidores.

Esta iniciativa ha nacido de la mano de Guía de Tendencias, S.A., que prevé abrir otra tienda en Madrid en 2010 para instalarse después en otras ciudades europeas como París, Londres, Berlín, Roma o Amsterdam. El plan incluye más adelante Nueva York, Los Ángeles, Monterrey, Ottawa y Río de Janeiro.

Además de permitir reservar espacios para realizar presentaciones de productos, esloúltimo también ofrece servicios adicionales a las empresas, como estudios de mercado e investigaciones cualitativas y cuantitativas. Esloúltimo cuenta con una sala disponible para realizar encuestas y reuniones, así como para llevar a cabo ‘focus group’ de aceptación de productos. La tienda dispone de una zona de exposición donde los consumidores pueden probar y conocer de primera mano prototipos e innovaciones de juguetes, nuevas tecnologías y cosméticos, entre otros.

Algunas de las marcas participantes en el estreno fueron Pepsico, Danone, Sanex, HP, Bimbo, Cadbury, Coca Cola, Dell, BenQ y Panrico.

(Nota: a los pocos días de abrir la tienda, su éxito fue tal que hubo que modificar las condiciones de admisión: en principio, las inscripciones realizadas a partir del 21 de octubre darán derecho a ‘comprar’ una vez cada seis meses y no cada quincena como se había planteado.) Esloúltimo: Symbiotic Marketing On October 16th, a highly original store opened in the centre of Barcelona, where purchases cost (virtually) nothing. It is called esloúltimo and its slogan is “innovations and free samples”. That is just what it offers. Customers pay a half-yearly sum of 5 euros and they can pass by the store every fortnight to pick up a maximum of five different products (see the note at the end...) as long as they do not pick the same ones on subsequent occasions. What can you find on the shelves of this singular store? At the moment few textiles, to tell the truth. (Who will be the first to take the plunge?) There are, however, items of food, cosmetics, cleaning products, and some high technology (on display). On the day of the launch, there were some 50 items of stock in total. The aim is to offer consumers new products, even ones in the preparatory phase, so that they can get to know them and try them out. In exchange, among other things the new products are given more visibility, public opinion is generated, and consumers exchange information about them.

The brain behind the initiative is Guía de Tendencias, S.A., which expects to open another store in Madrid in 2010 and then to extend the idea to other European cities, such as Paris, London, Berlin, Rome or Amsterdam. At a later date, the plan will also encompass New York, Los Angeles, Monterrey, Ottawa and Río de Janeiro.

As well as allowing businesses to reserve areas for product presentations, esloúltimo also offers them additional services like market analyses and qualitative and quantitative research studies. Esloúltimo has a function room for surveys, meetings and product acceptance ‘focus groups’. The store also features a display area, where consumers can try out and get a first-hand insight into new prototypes and innovations in toys, new technology and cosmetics, among other products.

Some of the brands that took part in the store’s launch were Pepsico, Danone, Sanex, HP, Bimbo, Cadbury, Coca Cola, Dell, BenQ and Panrico.

CH Colección Hogar Home, la cadena de tiendas de productos de textil-decoración y mobiliario para hogar, inauguró el 30 de octubre otra tienda, esta vez en el nuevo centro comercial Zielo Shopping de Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid). Este centro comercial está en una zona estratégica de esta población. Cuenta con una superficie total de 16.000 m2, destinados a operadores de marcas de primer nivel.

Con una inversión de 400.000 euros y 450 m2 de superficie de venta, esta es la tercera tienda abierta en la Comunidad de Madrid, tras las de Las Rozas y Torrelodones (esta última en la foto). El nuevo local ofrece un amplio abanico de productos textiles, de decoración y muebles para el hogar y cuenta con una línea de productos a precios reducidos, con la calidad y el diseño de siempre, para animar el consumo.

Esta es la segunda de las tres aperturas que la enseña preparaba para los últimos meses de 2009 en dicha Comunidad; la tercera se ubicará en el centro comercial Isla Azul.

CH Colección Hogar Home Opens a New Store in Pozuelo de Alarcón CH Colección Hogar Home, the home textile and furniture chain, opened a new store on October 30th, this time in Zielo Shopping, a new shopping centre in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid). The shopping centre is strategically located in the Alarcón district. It covers a total surface area of 16,000 m2 for use by stores offering top brand names.

With capital investment of 400,000 euros and a sales area of 450 m2, this is the third store opened by the chain in the Madrid region, following one in Las Rozas and another in Torrelodones (the last shown in the photo). The new store offers a wide range of textile products, items of décor and furniture for the home, plus a range of lower price products to entice shoppers with the assurance of the same quality and design as the chain’s other goods.

En concreto el premio recibido por Eurotela es en la categoría Empresa Segura Pyme.

N o t i c i a s Eurotela awarded the Llum Prize for its track record as a safe company Eurotela, the Agullent-based company belonging to ATEVAL, has been awarded a prize at the 2nd edition of the Premios Llum (Llum means ‘light’ in Valencian) which the CEV (Confederación Empresarial Valenciana – Valencian Business Confederation) gives in recognition of companies’ safety track records, specifically dealing with the management and implementation of occupational hazards prevention. Concretely, the prize received by Eurotela is in the Safe SME category.

Lola Vañó, Human Resources manager at Eurotela, received the prize at a ceremony held at the CEV on 28th October. The ceremony was presided by José Vicente González, President of the CEV, who was accompanied by the delegate of the Government, Ricardo Peralta, the Valencian employment secretary, Luis Lobón, and the president of the CEV’s Labour Relations Commission, Salvador Fernández.

Santiago Fisas Mulleras, closely related to the textile sector, especially in his quality of president of Sati. N o t i c i a s La manta a la cabeza... y la tapicería, para el vestir “¿Has imaginado alguna vez vestirte con aquella tapicería de Versalles o con una preciosa colcha bordada de una suite del Ritz?”

Se trata de proponer una colección de ropa a partir de tejidos y un diseño propiamente para el hogar, transformándolos para darles una nueva oportunidad de salir a la calle y tener una nueva vida.

El 10 de diciembre Valeria y Lola (VL, tel. +34 609 843 428) presentaron en el bar Vintage de Barcelona “Tea Room”, su primera colección de piezas únicas: abrigos, chaquetas, bolsas “de fin de semana” y complementos realizados a mano partiendo de dos materias primas: buen gusto a raudales y telas de tapicería y decoración. Un entorno adecuado y los precios contenidos de estas prendas prácticamente de colección redondearon la presentación.

La fusión de la experiencia en dos campos del diseño textil/moda de Valeria Civil y Lola Serrat es el resultado de este trabajo que ha dado

To hell with the consequences… dress in upholstery fabric “Have you ever imagined dressing in Versailles upholstery fabric or a beautiful embroidered bedspread from a suite at the Ritz?”

The idea behind it is a clothes collection based on household fabrics and design, transforming them to give them a new opportunity to go out into the street and get a new life.

On 10th December at the Vintage bar in Barcelona, Valeria and Lola (VL, tel. +34 609 843 428) presented Tea Room, their first collection of unique garments: overcoats, jackets, “weekend” bags and accessories made by hand using two raw materials: huge amounts of good taste and upholstery and decoration fabrics.

A perfect setting and the affordable prices of these almost collection pieces, rounded off the presentation.

The fusion of Valeria Civil and Lola Serrat’s experience in the two fields of textiles design/fashion is the result of this work which has led to a collection of exclusive garments with a special eye for detail. And, as if it were not enough, recycling materials in artisan fashion.
