If you prefer facts to fiction, read this document. An intentionally inaccurate flyer is floating around Wiscasset, trying to spread the baseless fear that Wiscasset can’t ethically accept donations to cover all legal fees. FACTS: In the MDOT matter, town attorneys have already driven a hard bargain with private donors, and an Agreement is in writing, awaiting the signatures of town officials. The Maine State Bar Association forbids unethical actions by attorneys. The town would never have negotiated this agreement if doing so was unethical. Any claims to the contrary, including those in political flyers, are FALSE. The town, the Wiscasset Newspaper and the Lincoln County News have had this in their hands since late February.
