Welcome

FALL/WINTER 2021-2022

Brighter Days Are Here for Hyland Hills Residents

It finally feels like things are getting back to “normal” at Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District and I am pleased to report we are back in operation at all our facilities. With some limited pandemic safety protocols still in place, we remain optimistic and confident that we can continue to meet your family’s recreational needs now, and in the future. Our goal is to help everyone reach their healthy lifestyle goals with the meaningful recreational programming we have become known for. Additionally, the District is already rolling into the fall and winter seasons with planning for fun community activities like Clear Creek Valley Park’s ParkFest in September, and the bright lights of Adventure Golf & Raceway’s Holiday Lights spectacular and the Water World’s Christmas in Color drive-through event in November and December. These sparkling signature events will take us into the New Year, where your family can begin to plan activities for 2022. One place where our community has come together to recreate in great numbers is at Clear Creek Valley Park where the District’s vision for a really special regional park is being realized. We are so pleased the park has become such a wonderful place for family gatherings, sports programming, pickle ball, volleyball, individual workouts, amphitheater shows, playground fun and so much more. The District recently received a grant from Adams County Open Space that will help us provide more of these amenities and continue to make general improvements at the park. We are grateful and thank our Adams County partners for their trust and assistance with significant monetary contributions to Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District over the years. The recreation staff has put together some great sports programs that you can read about in this guide and it includes all your favorites and also gymnastics, where interest and demand are booming. Between receiving your two-time-per-year printed Activities Guide, be sure to check the website at www.hylandhills.org often, so you can stay in the know about program additions and other relevant updates. The District’s enterprise facilities that support our programming are all back to business as usual. Adventure Golf & Raceway and the Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills are in full swing; the Ice Centre at the Promenade is active with hockey play and figure skating and getting ready for the busy fall leagues; and FIT by Hyland Hills growing its membership participation every day. Water World had a great summer and will finish out the summer season with Bow Wow Beach Day for the pooches on September 11th. After the water park’s first park closure in more than 40 years due to Covid last year, it was refreshing to welcome back the enthusiastic crew of 1000 young workers who came back for Water World’s successful 2021 season. I also encourage you to subscribe to the District’s free monthly newsletter, which you can do on the website. That will help you stay informed about all the current Hyland Hills activities that you are invited to participate in! Stay well, Yvonne Fischbach, Executive Director

Adams County Fair Kids Zone Sponsor! Water World has been the proud sponsor of the Kids Zone at the Adams County Fair since 2015. Part of that includes hosting the Fair queen at the water park over the years, where the lovely young women have greeted excited park guests. We are so proud of the amazing partnership between Hyland Hills and the many entities of Adams County and we congratulate them on the great 2021 Adams County Fair.

Mutts N’ Struts All About the Dogs

Have FUN this FALL at Clear Creek Valley Park and Carl Park!

About 325 pooches and their parents were treated to a morning festival that included dog adoption information, resources for dog care, music, food, and fun at Carroll Butts Park on July 17th. The best news was that several rescue dogs were adopted at the event and went home that day with new families. The event was produced by the Westminster Chamber of Commerce and cosponsored by Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District.

More doggie fun is on tap September 11th with Bow Wow Beach Doggie Day as Water World wraps up the summer. Bring your dog out for a fun day of canine waterpark fun! Go to WaterworldColorado.com for details.

Clear Creek Valley Park will continue to be a hub of activity for Hyland Hills this Fall with exciting free entertainment at the park and in the amphitheater, and Carl Park is adding Fall fun as well! Some examples of what you can expect include unique field day fun hosted by a music-playing princess hosting relay races, long jump, tug-of-war, more field day favorites at the park, and magic to fill the Carl Park area with a hilarious show (see page 17). Remember to check the Hyland Hills website hylandhills.org often and sign up for the Hyland Hills E-Newsletter to stay in the know!
