WELCOMING REMARK Nào cùng nhau tiến về Đại Hội Đất Hứa.

Nắm tay nhau, bắt tay nhau, trao nhau tình thương.

Cùng đồng thanh hát lời tán dương.

Chúa chúng ta, sống trong ta, và trong từng người.

ây là bài hát khởi xướng để mời gọi mỗi thành viên của Phong Trào TNTT tại Hoa Kỳ chuẩn bị tinh thần tiến về Đại Hội Đất Hứa lần thứ sáu tại Carlinville, Il. Gần một năm qua chúng ta đã chuẩn bị tinh thần và những việc tổ chức cụ thể để đến và sống bên nhau trong Đại Hội Về Đất Hứa VI kỳ này. Cùng với Ban Tổ Chức của Đại Hội Về Đất Hứa VI Cha chào mừng một cách nồng nhiệt tới tất cả tham dự viên của Đại Hội Về Đất Hứa VI.

Thánh Phaolô là vị tông đồ trở lại và yêu mến Chúa cách đặc biệt. Ngài xác tín rằng: “Tôi sống, nhưng không phải là tôi sống, mà là Chúa Kitô sống trong tôi.” Trong kỳ Đại Hội này, Thánh Phaolô nhắc nhở mỗi người chúng ta, gần 1000 tham dự viên, theo gương của ngài là hãy yêu mến Chúa và để Chúa sống trong chúng ta. Nếu chúng ta đón nhận lời mời gọi chân thành của thánh Phaolô thì suốt trên con đường phục vụ của người linh mục tu sĩ, trợ tá, và huynh trưởng chúng ta cùng hát với nhau cho thật rõ và thật to: Anh em ơi! Chúa mến thương ta. Anh em ơi! Chúa ngự hồn ta, như lá cành được liên kết thân cây. Anh em ơi! Chúa mến thương ta. Anh em ơi! Chúa ngự hồn ta, hãy vui lên, vui vui luôn từng ngày.

Cùng một niềm tin và lòng xác tín như Thánh Phaolô, Đức Giáo Hoàng đương kim Phanxicô cũng đang nhắc nhở cộng đồng dân Chúa trên toàn cầu là Chúa đang sống trong mỗi người. Đức Giáo Hoàng công bố Năm Thánh của Lòng Thương Xót Chúa (Dec. 8, 2015 – Nov. 20, 2016) để cộng đồng dân

Chúa cảm nghiệm được Chúa sống trong họ. ĐGH nói: “Gương mặt của Chúa Giêsu là gương mặt nhân từ của Chúa Cha.” Ngài giải thích thêm rằng Chúa Giêsu biểu lộ gương mặt nhân từ của Chúa Cha qua lời nói, hành động và trong con người của Chúa Giêsu.

Qua thông điệp Miseridordiae Vultus, Đức Giáo Hoàng Phanxicô nhắc nhở rằng mỗi người linh mục, tu sĩ, trợ tá, và huynh trưởng là gương mặt nhân từ của Chúa vì Chúa sống trong chúng ta. Gương mặt nhân từ của Chúa cần được biểu lộ trong gia đình, trong đoàn, trong giáo xứ, trong trường học, nơi sở làm, và trong mọi nơi chúng ta hiện diện.

Nhìn kỹ lại chúng ta có lý do chính đáng và cơ hội để sống vui bên nhau phải không? Tất cả vì có Chúa sống trong ta. Phong Trào TNTT tạo cho chúng ta có nhiều niềm vui phục vụ. Nhưng niềm vui nào mà không có Chúa thì niềm vui đó không được trọn vẹn.

Như một lời bài hát viết cho Đại Hội kỳ này xác tín rằng: “Có Chúa trong anh. Có Chúa trong tôi. Niềm vui bất tận.” Đúng vậy! chỉ có niềm vui trong Chúa là niềm vui bất tận.

Cha mời gọi mỗi tham dự viên của Đại Hội Về Đất Hứa VI bám lấy chủ đề của Đại Hội là “Chúa Sống Trong Tôi” và dùng đó là chủ để của hành trình phục vụ trong đời mình. Cha cầu chúc cho mỗi tham dự viên của Đại Hội được dổi dào ơn Thánh và tràn đầy niềm vui trong Chúa.

Warmest greetings to all Chaplains, Chaplain Assistants, Honored Guests, Youth-Leaders, Friends and Families of the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement in the USA (VEYM-USA).

t is with great joy that I, on behalf of the National Executive Committee and Convention Organizing Committee, welcome you to our 6th Coming to the Promised Land Convention.

This remarkable event marks another giant milestone within our Movement. With God’s grace, our convention unites close to 1000 VEYM-USA members across the country to praise and give thanks to the Lord for His love, guidance and protection over our Movement, and to celebrate our ministry. Among the attendees, the convention also attracts VEYM members from Canada, Australia, Vietnam and Italy. What a blessing!

Truly, the there is no better time to be a part of the VEYM-USA than the present time. Our Movement has grown tremendously over the years and has ventured into numerous unchartered territories. To date, we currently have 130 plus chapters and over 25,000 members throughout the country. At the local level, Catholic communities recognize the important contribution in apostolic services our members provide.

Nationally, the VEYM-USA is cited as “one of the most organized and the largest in terms of membership among Asian and Pacific Island Catholic Youth groups in the USA,” by the Subcommittee on Asian and Pacific

Island Affairs, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Recently, the VEYM-USA was referenced in one of the research publications from the Georgetown University Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate as playing a vital role in the vocational discernment experience of Vietnamese clergy men and women. On the international front, along with our Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement brothers and sisters in Vietnam, Canada, Australia, and France, our Movement are collaborating with the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network (International Apostleship of Prayer/ Eucharistic Youth Movement) to motivate and inspire youth to be in union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to pray Pope Francis’ monthly intentions.

The above are just a few key accomplishments and the credit belongs to each and every one of you. In an effort to sustain our momentum forward and to meet the needs of VEYM-USA members, our Movement is making waves in exploring ways to establish a central headquarters, streamlining training (spiritual and natural) materials and transforming our day-to-day system of operation.

With the theme “Christ lives in me”, we are called to be the temple of God, and through the Holy Spirit, make Jesus’ way of life our way of life.

As the Gospel of John points out, we are to “walk as He walked, live as He lived” so that our minds, bodies, spirits, attitudes, behaviors, and love mirror that of Jesus who is always present in the Eucharist. As you will come to see, the significance of this theme is saturated throughout the various activities of this convention. The majestic liturgical services, personalized gifts, dynamic key note speakers, well-crafted workshops, professional performances and concerts, fun competitions, various recreational activities, incredible talent show, beautiful decor, amazing friends, and much more, all with “Christ lives in me” as the central theme. The more we strive to become like Christ in all activities that we do, the more His life will be in us and the more He lives in us.

On behalf of the National Executive Committee and Convention Organizing Committee, I thank you for your continued love and support of the VEYM-USA and for being a part of this historic and important event. May the merciful Christ, through the love and intercession of our Lady LaVang and the Vietnamese Martyrs, bless you and our convention.

May He keep us safe and give us the strength to live as He lives in us.

Be Strong because Christ lives in you! ..."Is it possible to dismiss Christ and everything which he brought into the annals of the human being? Of course it is possible. The human being is free. The human being can say to God, 'No.' The human being can say to Christ, 'No.' But the critical question is: Should he? And in the name of what 'should' he? With what argument, what reasoning, what value held by the will or the heart does one bring oneself, one's loved ones, one's countrymen and nation to reject, to say 'No' to him with whom we have all lived for 1,000 years? He who formed the basis of our identity and has himself remained its basis ever since."

The Holy Father John Paul II said, "As a bishop does in the sacrament of confirmation so do I today extend my hands in that apostolic gesture over all who are gathered here today, my compatriots. And so I speak for Christ himself:

'Receive the Holy Spirit!'

"I speak too for St. Paul: 'Do not quench the Spirit!'

"I speak again for St. Paul: 'Do not grieve the Spirit of God!' "You must be strong, my brothers and sisters!

You must be strong with the strength that faith gives! You must be strong with the strength of

faith! You must be faithful! You need this strength today more than any other period of our history. ...

You must be strong with love, which is stronger than death. ... When we are strong with the Spirit of God, we are also strong with the faith of man. ...

There is, therefore, no need to fear. ... So ... I beg you: Never lose your trust; do not be defeated; do not be discouraged. ... Always seek spiritual power from him from whom countless generations of our fathers and mothers have found it. Never detach yourselves from him. Never lose your spiritual freedom." ...

When I became bishop of Springfield, I had no idea that within a year the state of Illinois would force Catholic Charities out of foster care and adoption services because of our religious beliefs about marriage and family life. I did not expect that in my second year we would be back in court, this time seeking to prevent the federal government from imposing a mandate on us that is contrary to Catholic teaching.

As St. Thomas More wrote, "You must not abandon the ship in a storm because you cannot control the winds. ... What you cannot turn to good, you must at least make as little bad as you can."

As we receive Christ into our hearts in this Eucharist, I give thanks for the graces that almighty God has granted to our Catholic community, and I am confident that the Lord will provide for us in all of our needs.

As St. Thomas More wrote to his daughter Margaret while he was in prison, "Do not let your mind be troubled over anything that shall happen to me in this world. Nothing can come but what God wills. And I am very sure that whatever that be, however bad it may seem, it shall indeed be the best."

In the words of St. Paul, which we heard in the reading from his Second Letter to the Corinthians, "God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that, in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work."

As Pope John Paul II extended his hands and prayed over his people in their time of need, I now do the same and make his words my own, asking for God's graces to face the challenges of our time:

"And so I speak for Christ himself: 'Receive the Holy Spirit!'

Fr. Martino Nguyễn Bá Thông

Founder of OBV and Former VEYM Assistant General Chaplain of Academic Affairs Topic: Sexuality and Morality Rising from humble beginnings as a refugee from Vietnam, Father Martino Nguyễn Bá Thông became one of the youngest and most well known catholic priests among the Vietnamese enclaves in the U.S. Long before receiving his Master in Divinity at Mount Saint Mary University and Seminary, and ordination in 2004, he has worked with children who were homeless on the streets of Chicago. His passion and perseverance to instill hope in children with tragic past led him to establish One Body Village, a nonprofit organization combating sex slavery and trafficking in Southeast Asia. As a member of the National Leadership Council, Academy Headquarters and a former Assistant General Chaplain for Academic Affairs for the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement in the USA, Father Martino has delivered countless workshops on human sexuality, morality and relationship, and is one of the few subject matter expert presenters on these topics. At the present, Father Martino continues to appear on popular Vietnamese media networks and continues to and provide weekly live video seminars.

International Youth Speaker | Performer | Beatboxer Topic: Evangelization Paul J. Kim is an International youth speaker, beatboxer, and comedian. He presents and performs full-time, sharing his passion for Jesus Christ and the New Evangelization via music, comedy, and inspirational talks. He has released two music albums entitled The World Sings (2013) and Run Fly Fall (2009), his videos on YouTube have accumulated over a million views, and he presents to over 50,000 people each year at Catholic events throughout the world.

His background includes a BA in Philosophy (Franciscan University), and an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy (Hope International University). In his free time, Paul enjoys long walks on the beach, making his wife and daughter laugh till they fall over, pointing out God’s sense of humor, and talking to strangers in random accents. www.PJKmusic.com

Bishop Thomas John Paprocki

Bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois Bishop Thomas John Paprocki was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1978.

After ordination, he studied law at DePaul University College of Law and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1981. Working as a parish priest at St. Michael Church in South Chicago, a neighborhood with high unemployment due to shutdowns of the local steel mills, then-Father Paprocki co‑founded the South Chicago Legal Clinic to help answer the need for legal services for the poor. In 2014 Bishop Paprocki was named President Emeritus and Of Counsel of the organization, now called the Chicago Legal Clinic.

In November, 1985, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin appointed Fr. Paprocki Vice‑Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Chicago and in 1987 sent him to do post‑graduate studies in canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He completed his doctoral degree in 1991. Pope John Paul II appointed him to serve as Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago on January 24, 2003. On June 22, 2010, Bishop Paprocki was installed the ninth Bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. In May 2013 he received his Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from the University of Notre Dame.

International Assistant of the Eucharistic Youth Movement Entrusted by the Pope and appointed by the Superior General of the Society of Jesuits, Father Fornos aims to promote the Pope’s monthly prayer intentions and love for the Eucharist to all adult and youth members. Most recently, Father Fornos, Sr. Lourdes and their team released a series of Pope Videos and launched the Click_to_Pray app with the sole purpose of connecting people around the world together to pray three times a day (Living the Eucharistic Day) and to pray for Pope's Francis intentions each month. The videos and app are available is multiple languages, including English. In 19992005, she served as Provincial councilor and secretary of her community’s US Province. She founded the Catholic organization for Migrant Equity, a grassroots group in Maryland and Illinois. Her pastoral experiences include Assistant Director for Pastoral Care of Migrants, Refugees and Travelers in the USCCB Secretariat of Cultural Diversity in the Church, migration awareness campaign in Philippine schools, formator, and pastoral outreach to Filipino migrant workers in Malaysia, a joint project of the Episcopal Conferences of the Philippines and Malaysia’s offices of Migration. Đoàn Maria Nữ Vương, Miền Tây Nam Topic: Games & God: Incorporating Learning into Sinh Hoạt & Singing In TNTT, we are called not only to catechize our youth, but help them fall in love with Jesus. There's no better way to do that than to make learning fun! To let Christ live in you is to let Christ be a part of everything that you do -- not just in praying moments, but also in playing moments. Only in youth ministry will you find that blindfolds and balls, water balloons and mud, silly string and tightropes are tools for teaching. There's a unique balance to incorporating fun games into teaching, and this session will help youth leaders learn how to turn every moment of sinh hoạt time into an effective teaching opportunity. You will learn how to make your activities purposeful and how to incorporate the Bible into games and songs. Through interactive activities, you'll walk away from this session with practical knowledge on making learning purposeful and fun -- and filled with Christ.

Tr. Antôn Phạm Mạnh Cương has been with TNTT for over 30 years and still enjoys sinh hoạt with các em. He is active in Đoàn Maria Nữ Vương, Miền Tây Nam, in Gardena, CA. He is a Huấn Luyện Viên Trung Cấp. His biggest joy currently is sharing his experiences and love for God with youth leaders, and he has been doing so at many youth leader training camps.

Đoàn Vinh Sơn Liêm, Miền Tây Topic: Translanguaging: Giáo Dục Các Em Using the Power of Bilingualism “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.” Acts 2:4

As a Huynh Trưởng, our mission is to help youths learn how to live our Catholic faith. However, it can be difficult to teach and engage youths who have varying levels of language proficiency: some only understand Vietnamese, some only English, and others a mix of both. This workshop will examine the nature of our bilingualism and help youth leaders recognize that we all have the capacity to teach using both Vietnamese and English; we simply need to tap into that potential and use it to our advantage. Participants will receive tools to build their confidence in teaching using an approach called "translanguaging." Just as Jesus gave his apostles the Holy Spirit and enabled them preach in different languages, so, too, does Christ live in us and empower us to connect with all of our youth members. When we truly understand how God wants to work through us as Vietnamese-American Catholics, we will realize that the apparent language dichotomy of our generation is not so much a barrier, but rather a blessing.

Tr. Giuse Đoàn Trí Charles is from Miền Tây and is a member of Đoàn Vinh Sơn Liêm in San José, CA. He is a Huấn Luyện Viên Sơ Cấp and joined TNTT when he was an Ấu Nhi. As a clinician, he often works with language interpreters to provide health care for underserved populations. During his undergraduate years, he took courses in linguistics and Vietnamese language while studying psychobiology and Southeast Asian studies. In addition to TNTT, Tr. Trí has been active in the local community and has taught Việt Ngữ to both children and adults. He has a love for language and wants to help others build confidence in their bilingual capabilities.

Đoàn Kitô Vua, Miền Tây Topic: Mass & Music: Forming a TNTT Choir Music activates the senses, moves the heart, and expresses our thoughts in a unique way. Music is an integral component of liturgy that helps us lift up our prayers as a faith community. It is one of the ways in which we as the faithful can fully participate in worship during the Mass. Saint Augustine says: "He who sings, prays twice." Everyone is called to active participation in the Mass -- and Mass music is one of the ways in which we can do this. Choirs help the congregation lift their prayers in song during the Mass. If you're considering the formation of a TNTT choir or currently have one at your parish, this session will also give you practical ideas on how to develop and manage a children's choir. Trưởng Khanh will share his expertise and experiences in creation and management of a children's choir, provide best practices in the infrastructure of a choir, and much more!

Tr. Khanh Nguyễn is from Mien Tây and is a Huynh Trưởng Cấp 2 in Đoàn Kitô Vua in Sacramento, CA. Music is his passion and he has played the guitar for the church choirs for over 15 years and is also in a band. He formed the parish's Kitô Vua TNTT choir 5 years ago and membership has grown from 20 to 60 members over this time. He also helped to compose the bilingual version of Bộ Lễ, Mass of Renewal, by Stephen Curtis, which is called "Bộ Lễ Canh Tân" (available for purchase at OCP.org.) He and another Huynh Truong composed "Màu Nền Lòng Con" a beautiful song that can be sung during the dâng khan portion of các Lễ Bổn Mạng.

Đoàn Chúa Thánh Thần, Miền Tây Bắc Topic: Mission Possible: Love Across Oceans Christ lives in all of us, but we are called and sent forth to share Christ with others. Especially in TNTT and as youth leaders, we are called to do apostolic works (làm việc tông đồ). Join Tr. Tr. Giuse Nguyễn Hoàng Khiêm Tốn has been a Huynh Trưởng for 10+ years, and is currently Đoàn Trưởng at Đoàn Chúa Thánh Thần in Everett, WA, Miền Tây Bắc. He is the sixth of eight children in his family. He graduated from the University of Washington with a Biology degree in hopes of becoming a doctor. However, God had other plans in mind and he now serves as a Program Coordinator at Housing Hope, an organization aimed at helping homeless families find housing and stability. For the past several years, Tr. Tốn has been leading several high school and college students to bring hope and love to the country of Haiti. He hopes to inspire and empower youths and young adults to be the hands and feet of God.

These things often wear people down and make us cynical and bring down morale, which can then spread like an infectious disease throughout your whole team and organization. If these things have worn you out, have you questioning if being a Huynh Trưởng is the vocation you are being called to, or affecting the attitudes of others within your organization, this session is for you! Come learn about 7 virtues that can help you refocus on what it means to be a youth leader and give you practical tips on what to do to prevent youth ministry burnout and prevent the negativity from spreading to others within your organization. These will be insights that you can take back to help your leadership team grow as youth leaders (so those in BCH roles are highly encouraged to attend!)

Tr. Steven Nguyen is a passionate VEYM youth leader who has been an active member since the age of 5 at Emmanuel, Tustin. He is currently finishing his doctoral studies in chemistry.

Lovers of the Holy Cross Topic: Year of Mercy With Our Youth Pope Francis affirms that the name of God is Mercy. Mercy for Pope Francis is not merely a word or description of an action, but a verb, an action itself. Mercy means to embrace, to empathize, and to console to all of the wounded and the broken. Mercy is an often difficult topic to teach youths. In this session, you will learn about how to help your youth understand what mercy means and about how God is a merciful Father, as well as gain new ideas on leading your youth to live the year of Mercy.

Sr. Therese Hồng Phước Trần, a child of God, spouse of Jesus, and religious sister of the Lovers of the Holy Cross, Los Angeles. The Lovers of the Holy Cross is a congregation founded by Bishop Pierre Lambert de la Motte in 1670 in Vietnam. I have been living in this beautiful vocation of the religious life since 2003, making my first vows in 2008, and perpetual vows in 2013. I directed the Vietnamese-Bilingual Religious Education Program at St. Bonaventure Church in Huntington Beach for 5 years before I became the the vocation director for my congregation.

Vocation Director of the Dominican Sisters of Mary Immaculate Province Topic: Leading Youths to Christ: How to Prepare Adoration Time for Youth As a Eucharistic Youth Movement, we are called to lead our youths closer to Jesus in the Eucharist.

Through Eucharistic Adoration we have an opportunity to bring our youth to a beautiful encounter with Jesus in an intimate and personal way. Oftentimes, however, youth leaders constrain this encounter to a very rigid and structured time of prayer that bores the youth rather than helping them develop their relationship with Christ during Adoration time. This session presents the what, why, where and how of leading the youth to encounter Christ in the Eucharist. This breakout presentation will explain and emphasize the importance of Eucharistic Adoration in the life of a HT and the youth. The session will provide teaching resources in the topic and samples of leading adoration formats. There will be free give-aways of resources, ideas, activities and much more. Come to learn more about how to fall deeper in love with Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament and bring back many teaching resources and ideas on how to lead the youth into a more meaningful time of adoration and help draw the youth closer into the presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Sr. Anna Pauline Pham Khanh Van, OP is a member of the Dominican Sisters of Mary Immaculate Province in Houston, Texas. Sr. Khanh Van began attending TNTT at the age of five in Đoàn Blessed Sacrament, Westminster CA. She entered the Dominican Order at the age of 15. For the past 10 years she has been involved in the Formation and Vocation committee of the Province ministering to the youth by organizing Confirmation, discernment, TNTT and other youth retreats, conferences and workshops. Sr. Khanh Van has been giving talks at many parishes and Đoàn TNTT across the nation, instilling in the hearts and souls of young people an awareness of God's infinite love and inviting them to respond in fervent generosity and trust. Sister has a devotion to Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and an ever greater desire to bring all souls to Him through the Eucharistic Adoration.

Tuyên Úy Miền Tây Bắc Topic: Application of the Senses in Prayer

One of the main purposes of Kinh Huynh Trưởng is bringing Huynh Trưởng to get in touch with God’s movement and grace in their lives as youth leaders. The power of this prayer is to help one to see how God is sensibly at work in your daily life activities. This session will unpack the depth and the dynamic of Kinh Huynh Truong by engaging you in the five senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste), as well as mental faculties (memory, imagination, and free will) as you pray.

Father Trung Phạm, SJ, was born in Vietnam. His family immigrated to the United States in 1990.

He received his MFA in drawing and painting, with a secondary field in sculpture, at the Pratt Institute in New York, NY. He received his MDiv and STL in Theological Aesthetics from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA. Father Pham is an ordained Jesuit priest and currently an Assistant Professor at Seattle University.

Đoàn Anrê Trần Anh Dũng, Miền Trung Topic: Love, Sex, Lust: Theology of the Body We today are constantly exposed to pornographic and perverse portrayals of the person -- to the point many of us do not even notice the mortal harm it inflicts on our lives of holiness. It is important that we grow resensitized to the wounds we have and cause so we can give Jesus a place to live in us, to make us new. None of us can ever heal or recover from our wounds without making room in our hearts for Jesus to live in us, to live through us. This session will help youth leaders move on the path of healing so that they can open their hearts to Jesus to live a more pure and holy way. As a survivor, Tr. Evan will share his story of how John Paul the Great's Theology of the Body pulled him from a life of sexual perversity and immersed him in a life of dignity. It is a story that expresses the potential that TNTT has to reach individuals who struggle with confused sexuality and how the Holy Spirit can empower us to help one another love Him, His Church, others and ourselves in a way that upholds the dignity of who we are created to be. Mature audiences only.

Tr. Evan Phạm is from Miền Trung and hails from Đoàn Anrê Trần Anh Dũng in Detroit, MI. He is a Huấn Luyện Viên Sơ Cấp. After discerning the priesthood for two years and earning a Bachelor of Philosophy, he is now currently completing a Masters in Theology and discerning Holy Matrimony.

He also substitute teaches at St. Catherine of Siena Academy. His favorite things to do are sharing the beauty of the Church with others, evangelization, writing his blog (HolySmack.com) as well as designing, producing and sharing prayer cards.

Yet, God calls us to be merciful like He is. For many of us, living a life of mercy in leadership when confronted with these challenges is not easy. To truly live out our vocations as youth leaders, we must recognize God’s mercy in our lives and commit ourselves to be merciful like God Our Father. Through personal testimony and reflection on the Year of Mercy, this session will help youth leaders explore how mercy helps us grow in holiness and helps to cultivate a healthy environment for the youth within your Đoàn, Liên Đoàn and Miền.

The culture in today’s age constantly bombard us with materialism and relativism, trying to convince us that to consume is to make us happy. Many of us have tried what the world has to offer and have been left feeling empty and unfulfilled. The only thing that can satisfy our deepest yearning is not just something, but a someone – Jesus Christ. God has a deep love for each of us, and He wishes to be united so intimately with each one of us that He gave His very self for us. This union is so intimate that God does not want us to stay comfortable where we are, but calls us all to a higher standard, that of holiness and Sainthood. Until we recognize this and until this truth penetrates deep within our hearts, we cannot effectively minister our youth and our parish communities.

In order to be more effective instruments for God, a youth leader must be rooted deeply in prayer and love for Christ. This session will help youth leaders build a better foundation of who Christ is in the Holy Eucharist, while also fostering within each youth leader a deep desire for a personal relationship with Christ. Through praise and worship, testimony, catechesis and prayer, Trưởng Thịnh will lead youth leaders into a time of reflection so that they can redirect their hearts to the source and summit of our Catholic Faith and the main foundation of TNTT -- Christ in the Eucharist. This session will help to plant and grow the seeds of the New Evangelization in the hearts of youth leaders so that they can further grow in Christ when they go back to their homes, their chapters, their parishes, and their daily lives.

Tr. Trần Nguyên Vĩnh Thịnh has been in TNTT since he was 5 years old and has been a Huynh Trưởng for over 6 years in Đoàn Thánh Giuse, Miền Trung, in Minneapolis, MN. His one great passion is to teach and preach the Good News. He is a catechist at his parish for the Post-Confirmation class to prepare future catechists. He has shared his faith leading talks at a number of retreats and youth/youth leader events, and is also in a praise and worship band (Rice4Christ). He spent 2.5 years in seminary formation to discern a religious vocation, and he continues to use the knowledge and wisdom he gained in his formation to help others know the beauty of our faith. He is currently at the St. Paul Seminary, pursuing a Master of Arts in Theology with the hope (whether God calls him to the priesthood or lay life) that he will teach high school religion and/or college Theology. Cha Lượng Uông, C.S.s.R., was ordained as a Redemptorist priest (Dòng Chúa Cứu Thế) in June 1995.

Since then he has served various ministries. He has a degree in marriage and family counseling.

Currently he lives in Chicago and serves as vocation director of Redemtorists of Denver province. He is one of the chaplains of Marriage Renewal workshop for Vietnamese at the national level (Canh Tân Đời Sống Hôn Nhân). Since 2005, Cha has given many talks on marriage and family.

Tr. Đinh Ngọc Nga was born and raised as Buddhist. She found her Christian calling through the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement while living in the Bataan Refugee Camp. Served as Vice President of Academic Affairs in the National Executive Committee from 2010 to 2014, Tr. Ngọc Nga is also one of the youngest Level III Youth Leader Trainers of her generation. As a mother of two, working professional, and youth leader at her local chapter in San Jose for more than 15 years – she is committed to youth leadership development and faith building. She has traveled to different regions in North America to lead training and development of emerging youth leaders. With fervent passion and contagious energy, she will “Serve” up a feast of Love and Laughter that will warm your heart and ignite your desire to go forth and SERVE!

Maria Goretti Hồ Tân Uyên Đoàn Thánh Tâm, Miền Trung Đông Topic: Balancing the TNTT Life When youth leaders are burned out and stressed out, it affects their spiritual lives and their relationship with others. This session will help you with tips on finding balance in life to keep our relationship with God and others healthy and positive. Through personal testimony and reflection on TNTT work-life balance, this session will help youth leaders explore their own balance in life for self-renewal. Tr. Maria Gorretti Hồ Tân Uyên has been an active member of Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement in the USA since 1990. She married to Tr. Gioan Ngô Quốc Tuấn and has three children, Thiên-Thanh Angelie, 15, Thiên-Toàn Thomas 13, and Thiên-Tâm Francis 8. At home, she is a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, a niece, a chef, and a maid. At work, she is a supervisor, a trainer, and a mentor. At church, she is a 9 Grader CCD teacher & a Huynh Trưởng in TNTT. In TNTT, she is a youth leader, a youth leader trainer, and currently a Vice President of Administrative Affairs of VEYM in USA. She plays tennis. Sự Hình Thành & Phát Triển Ngày Thành Lập: April 22, 1990 au năm 1975, cùng với làn sóng người đi tìm tự do tại Hoa Kỳ, những Đoàn Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể đầu tiên đã được thành lập tại Quận Cam. Trong những năm 1987 – 1988, các Cha Tuyên Úy và các Huynh Trưởng trong Miền Tây Nam đã xúc tiến những công việc chuẩn bị cho việc thành lập Ban Chấp Hành Miền Tây Nam. Năm 1989, mặc dù có vấn đề khó khăn trong nhân sự nhưng Linh Mục Gioan Kim Vũ Tuấn Tú vẫn quyết định thành lập Ban Chấp Hành Miền vì nhận thấy đó là việc cần thiết để kiện toàn tổ chức và phù hợp với Nội Quy của Phong Trào. Vào cuối tháng 2 năm 1989, Ban Điều Hành Lâm Thời Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể Miền Tây Nam đã được đề cử với nhiệm kỳ một năm (1989 – 1990) và đã được Linh Mục Tuyên Úy Miền chấp thuận. Trưởng Chủ Tịch Lâm Thời là Trưởng Giuse Lại Văn Tú. Bên cạnh đó Ban Chấp Hành Lâm Thời cũng lên kế hoạch dài hạn một năm để chuẩn bị cho việc bầu cử Ban Chấp Hành Miền.

Ngày 22 tháng 4 năm 1990, Tân Ban Chấp Hành Miền Tây Nam nhiệm kỳ 1990 – 1992 đã được bầu lên và Trưởng Chủ Tịch là Trưởng Vincent Nguyễn Đức Mậu.

Sau hơn 25 năm được thành lập, Phong Trào Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể Miền Tây Nam đã phát triển không ngừng. Hiện tại trong Miền có bốn Liên Đoàn (với con số 31 Đoàn), hai Đoàn Biệt Lập, và một Đoàn đang trong tiến trình thành lập.

Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể Miền Tây Bắc trải dài từ tiểu bang Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington đến vùng đất Alaska xa xôi. Nói đến lịch sử Miền Tây Bắc thì sẽ là một thiếu sót nếu không nhắc đến Đoàn Chúa Hài Đồng, cái nôi sinh trưởng của bao nhiêu tài năng của Miền và Trung Ương. Ðoàn Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể Chúa Hài Ðồng được thành lập vào mùa thu năm 1985 tại Cộng Đồng Công Giáo Việt Nam Tổng Giáo Phận Seattle. Tháng chín năm đó, Cha Antôn Phan Hữu Hậu, Tuyên Úy đầu tiên của Đoàn, và Thầy Giuse Nguyễn Ngọc Huyền đã kêu gọi một số anh chị tham gia vào PT/ TNTT/VN để phục vụ cho giới trẻ. Sau mấy tuần đã quy tụ được trên 40 anh chị ghi danh tham gia vào phong trào. Thế là một khóa huấn luyện huynh trưởng được tổ chức sau mỗi Thánh Lễ Chúa Nhật.

Qua 10 tuần học hỏi về nội quy, tôn chỉ, đường lối, phương pháp giáo dục, chuyên môn, nghiêm tập v.v… mọi người được mời gọi bước vào Sa Mạc đầy tuyết trắng và đất Sa Mạc là hội trường nhà thờ, vì thời tiết không cho phép tổ chức ngoài trời.

Sau mấy ngày Sa Mạc, các anh chị đã chính thức tuyên hứa để trở thành những huynh trưởng và dự trưởng PT/TNTT/VN tại Hoa Kỳ.

Ngày 25 tháng 12 năm 1985, Ðoàn Chúa Hài Ðồng hân hoan mừng lễ ra mắt cộng đồng. Trong lễ ra mắt có cả các linh mục thuộc tòa Tổng Giám Mục đến tham dự. Tổng số đoàn sinh ba ngành là 150 em, với 19 Huynh Trưởng cấp I và 24 Dự Trưởng. Ngay sau đó Hội Ðồng Huynh Trưởng bầu Ban Thường Vụ chính thức của Nhiệm Kỳ 19851986.

Huynh Trưởng, Đoàn Chúa Hài Đồng vẫn vững chí tiếp tục với 2 mục đích của Đoàn và Phong Trào và là Đoàn TNTT duy nhất tại Miền Tây Bắc. Vào những năm 2000, vâng lời anh cả Giêsu, huynh trưởng Đoàn Chúa Hài Đồng đã thả lưới tại Everett và rồi cá bắt được là sự ra đời của Đoàn Chúa Thánh Thần.

Cha Tuyên Úy Phanxicô Nguyễn Sơn Miên tạm thời chia tay Đoàn Chúa Hài Đồng để qua làm Tuyên Úy cho Đoàn Chúa Thánh Thần.

Vào thời gian này Đoàn Chúa Hài Đồng không còn cô đơn biệt lập nữa mà đã lôi kéo được nhiều thêm những anh em Tông Đồ khác từ Bắc chí Nam của tiểu bang Washington. Trong thời gian lúc đầu khi các đoàn khác mới được thành lập, đã có nhiều trưởng từ Đoàn Chúa Hài Đồng hy sinh đến sinh hoạt tại cả hai nơi, mỗi Thứ Bảy và Chúa Nhật. Thế mới biết, tinh thần TNTT lúc nào cũng thật hăng say. Một Ban Thường Vụ Miền đã được thành lập đại diện cho bảy đoàn TNTT trong Miền Tây Bắc với Tuyên Úy Miền là Cha Phanxicô Nguyễn Sơn Miên: Đoàn Chúa Thánh Thần – Everett, WA Đoàn Chúa Hài Đồng – Seattle, WA Đoàn Xavie Cần – SW Seattle, WA Đoàn Thánh Gia – Auburn, WA Đoàn Têrêsa Hài Đồng – Tacoma, WA Đoàn Emmanuel – Olympia, WA Đoàn Thánh Tâm – Portland, OR Tính đến nay, Miền Tây Bắc hiện có 11 Đoàn chính thức và một vài Giáo Xứ đang chuẩn bị thành lập TNTT tại địa phương. Dưới sự dẫn dắt của một Cha Tuyên Úy nhiều tài năng, một Ban Thường Vụ Miền đầy nhiệt huyết, với các Ủy Viên nhiều óc sáng tạo và đầy sức trẻ, Miền Tây Bắc vẫn tiếp tục bước theo con đường đã được đặt ra từ những buổi đầu của Đoàn Chúa Hài Đồng: (1) đào luyện thanh thiếu niên trở thành những con người kiện toàn và những Kitô Hữu hoàn hảo; (2) đoàn ngũ hóa và hướng dẫn thanh thiếu niên loan truyền Tin Mừng Chúa Kitô và góp phần xây dựng xã hội.

MIỀN TRUNG ĐÔNG | Năm thành lập: 1990 Phong Trào Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể Miền Trung Đông (MTĐ) hay còn được biết đến với cái tên Miền Thủ Đô được xem là miền nhỏ nhất trong 8 Miền tại Hoa Kỳ. Hiện nay, Miền Trung Đông có 10 đoàn với khoảng 1000 thành viên sinh hoạt trong 3 tiểu bang: Pennsylvania, Maryland, và Virginia.

Trưởng (năm lẻ) và Đại Hội Thiếu Nhi (năm chẵn). Ngoài ra, hằng năm miền cũng tổ chức sa mạc huấn luyện và một buổi tĩnh tâm hay tĩnh huấn cho các Huynh Trưởng và Trợ Tá. Đặc biệt, để kết nối vòng tay giữa các đoàn và những tin tức của Phong Trào, tập san “Niềm Vui” vẫn đều đặn Thường khi ai đó nhắc đến cái tên Hoa được xuất bản để chia sẻ các Thịnh Ðốn, thì mọi người liên tưởng ngay thông tin sinh hoạt trong Miền và đến tháp Bút Chì, Nhà Trắng, Quốc Hội, Phong Trào. chính phủ, dinh tổng thống, tòa án Tối Cao, và các trụ sở chính trong chính Trong năm 2016, Miền Trung quyền, một nơi rất quan trọng. Buổi tĩnh tâm đã cao, đầy nhiệt huyết, và nhất là các đoàn quy tụ hơn 70 HT & TT tham dự luôn đoàn kết, yêu thương và hiệp nhất. và trong dịp này miền đã bầu ra một tân Ban Chấp Hành, nhiệm Nói về những sinh hoạt đặc sắc của MTĐ kỳ 2016–2020. (2) Kế đến, vào thì theo thông lệ cứ xen kẻ 2 năm một ngày 8 tháng 5, MTĐ đã tổ chức lần, miền có tổ chức Đại Hội Huynh một bữa tiệc gây quỹ nhân dịp ĐẠI HỘI VỀ ĐẤT HỨA VI

mừng lễ Mother’s Day. Buổi tiệc diễn ra thật vui nhộn và thành công với sự ủng hộ đông đủ của hơn 470 quý khách hiện diện. (3) Mới đây nhất, vào ngày 10-12 tháng 6 vừa qua, MTĐ đã long trọng tổ chức ĐHTN toàn miền với chủ đề “Do not fear; I am with you”. Đây là lần đầu tiên MTĐ tổ chức một kỳ đại hội thật hoành tráng tại một cơ sở khá lý tưởng; đã quy tụ được một con số kỷ lục cho miền với gần 400 tham dự viên có mặt tại đại hội.

Có lẽ sự kiện mà các Huynh Trưởng đang háo hức mong chờ là (4) Đại Hội Về Đất Hứa VI vào tháng cuối tháng 6 tới đây. Miền Trung Đông có một phái đoàn khá hùng hậu với 100 thành viên sẽ đại diện miền trong Ðại hội, hứa hẹn một kỳ đại hội thật náo nhiệt, vui tươi và hữu ích cho quý Huynh Trưởng. (5) Ngoài ra, vào ngày 22-23 tháng 7 sắp tới, MTĐ sẽ tham dự kỳ Đại Hội Đức Mẹ La

Vang của Liên Đoàn Công Giáo Việt Nam tổ chức tại Vương Cung Thánh Đường Đức Mẹ Vô Nhiễm Nguyên Tội, Washington, DC để kỷ niệm 10 năm thiết lập Nguyện Đường Đức Mẹ La Vang tại Hoa Thịnh Ðốn và cũng để mừng kính Năm Thánh Lòng Thương Xót. (6) Tiếp theo sau, vào ngày 10-14 tháng 8, MTĐ sẽ tổ chức sa mạc huấn luyện Huynh Trưởng Cấp I & Cấp II Ngành Thiếu tại Rockville, Maryland. Đây chỉ là sơ lược những sinh hoạt chính của MTĐ, ngoài ra còn có những sự kiện đặc sắc khác từ các Đoàn trong những dịp lễ Bổn Mạng của 10 đoàn trong miền.

Nhìn chung thì Miền Trung Đông đang trên đà phát triển. Con số thành viên từ Đoàn Sinh đến Huynh Trưởng và Trợ Tá gia tăng một cách đáng kể. Đặc biệt là các sinh hoạt trong Miền có phần thêm đặc sắc vì các Đoàn thường xuyên tổ chức sinh hoạt, liên lạc và huấn luyện chung với nhau; cộng thêm việc thông tin liên lạc qua Newsletter Niềm Vui và Facebook MTĐ giúp các thành viên biết rõ thông tin và làm việc hữu hiệu hơn. Nói tóm lại, phải tạ ơn Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể vẫn hằng thương yêu và tuôn đổ muôn vàn hồng ân trên Miền Trung Đông để các thành viên mỗi ngày một thăng tiến trong sự hiệp nhất và yêu thương.

Con Đường Về

Khi nói đến chữ Về theo thể lý thì ai cũng đều nghĩ đến căn nhà, hay một nơi nào đó mình đang ở hay mình đã ở qua. Còn về tâm linh thì con người nghĩ đến một chỗ nào đó xa xôi mà không thể hình dung được, vì trong trí tưởng tưởng không có. Nhớ hồi còn nhỏ tôi có đi tham dự một thánh lễ đám tang và đứng cạnh bên một cô bé, khi cả cộng đoàn hát bài Ngày Về vì trong bài hát có câu, “khi Chúa thương gọi con về” thì cô bé tinh nghịch nhanh miệng tiếp luôn câu, “con không về con không về.” rồi chưa hết đến bài Ơn Nghĩa Sinh Thành thì có câu, “Uống nước nhớ nguồn.” cô bé lại tiếp “người ơi đừng uống.” may mà cô bé đứng kế bên tôi chứ kế bên bà Sơ hay ông Cha chắc cô bé đã móm miệng như bà cụ chín mươi. Đại hội về đất hứa gợi nhớ lại trong tôi những bài hát Tiến về miền đất phì nhiêu, ta về miền đất hoa màu, lên đường về miền đất hứa…Đất hứa là nơi chất chứa niềm vui, mơ ước vùng đất chảy sữa và mật, vùng đất phì nhiêu của hoa màu và nơi đầy ấp tình thương. Đại hội là lúc Thiên Chúa quy tụ chúng ta về, về bên nhau, về bên Chúa. Khi về bên Chúa, bên nhau chúng ta sẽ được thưởng thức những món ăn tinh thần, những giây phúc vui chơi thảnh thơi và nghỉ ngơi đôi

chút sau những tháng ngày vất vả của sứ mạng là Huynh trưởng.

Nhìn theo cặp mắt của đức tin, đó là lúc chúng ta đang ở trong thiêng đàng của hiện hữu.

Hơn nữa chủ đề của đại hội lần này lại là “Chúa Sống Trong Tôi.”

Nếu không có một niềm tin vững chắc thì làm sao mà biết, đâu là Chúa sống trong tôi? Và có thật là Chúa đang sống trong tôi không?

Và nếu có, thì Chúa vào trong tôi bằng cách nào và sống trong tôi ra sao? Nói đến đây tôi nhớ đến vua Salomon, là vị vua trong Cựu Ước được mệnh danh là khôn ngoan.

Sau khi xây xong đền thờ Jerusalem, ngày khánh thành đền thờ thì Thiên Chúa ngự đến trong đám mây bao phủ khắp đền thờ, đứng trước cửa đến thờ vua Salomon cầu nguyện. “Có thật Thiên Chúa cư ngụ trên đất này không?” Vua nói tiếp: “Này trời cao thăm thẳm như vậy mà còn không chứa nỗi Ngài, huống chi ngôi nhà con xây đây!” Thật vậy Thiên Chúa thì vĩ đại và đầy quyền năng, làm sao mà có thể ở trong một cái nhà bé tèo tẹo kia. Cũng vậy với một tâm hồn nhỏ bé của con người, cùng với những cánh cửa của ích kỷ hẹp hòi, hận thù ghen ghét đã đóng và khoá chặt lại. Và chỉ để chứa chấp dối gian tội lỗi và dày đặt những bóng tối của sự gian ác, thì làm sao Thiên Chúa có thể vào ở được?

Thế thì đâu là dấu hiệu để biết được Thiên Chúa sống trong mình “Với Thiên Chúa thì không có gì mà không làm được.” Để được Chúa sống trong mình thì trước tiên con người phải nài xin, và ước muốn điều đó, và một khi Chúa đến thì trong tâm hồn mình sẽ thấy chất ngất niềm vui và bình an. Sự khác biệt của bình an và niềm vui đây, không phải là những gì tác động từ bên ngoài, như cười rụng rốn hay cười té ghế, hoặc đầy đủ tiện nghi, của cải, vật chất, và danh vọng… Nhưng là sự tác động thánh thiện của các ơn từ bên trong của tâm hồn, nó giúp ta đương đầu với những gì sẽ xảy đến trong hiện tại và tương lai, cho dù là điều tốt hay xấu, ngay cả đau khổ hay điều ngoài ý muốn, mà ta sẵn sàng dễ dàng chấp nhận không một chút sợ hãi hay lo lắng, và nó còn gìn giữ và khiến ta sống tốt lành hơn.

Nhờ ơn Chúa ta lần theo dấu vết tình yêu qua Lời Chúa và bí tích Thánh Thể, chúng ta có thể suy đi xa hơn, sâu sắc hơn, và sẽ nghiệm ra rằng. Trước khi Thiên Chúa dựng nên con người, thì Ngài đã có ý định ở trong lòng con người rồi. Vì vậy Ngài đã dựng nên cho ta một tâm hồn thật vĩ đại, to lớn to hơn cả vụ trụ này nhiều, chứ không phải nhỏ bé như chúng ta thường nghĩ, và đặt biệt hơn nữa, Ngài cũng đã cất đặt trong đó sự thánh thiện và tình yêu tuyệt đối của Ngài. Nhưng chỉ vì một chút kiêu căng và dại khờ con người đã làm

cho tâm hồn mình trở nên tàn tạ, yếu đuối, héo úa rồi teo lại, đến độ chối từ chính mình và phủ nhận cả tình thương của Thiên Chúa.

“Việc Chúa làm cho ta ôi vĩ đại, ta thấy mình chan chứa một niềm vui.” Để trở về và đổi mới chính mình trong kỳ Đại Hội lần này, với niềm tin vững vàng sống động. Chúng ta phải xác định lại chính mình, xác định lại tình thương của Thiên Chúa trong mình, và mạnh dạn nói lên rằng, “Chúa Sống Trong Tôi.”

Tàn tàn dập dập

Nghiên nhìn một chút về Mẹ Maria, khi vừa cưu mang Chúa Hài Đồng thì Mẹ liền lên đường đi thăm bà Elisabeth. Vừa thấy Mẹ Maria thì đứa con trong lòng bà Elisabeth nhảy mừng, và bà cũng vui mừng bà không ngớt lời tán dương Mẹ Maria, còn Mẹ Maria thì ngợi khen Thiên Chúa vì tâm hồn Mẹ cũng tràn ngập niềm vui, niềm vui là dấu chỉ của Chúa trong lòng.

Chúa Giêsu chính là Tin Mừng của niềm vui viên mãn, mỗi người huynh trưởng của phong trào TNTT chúng ta nên tin và xác tín rằng có Chúa ngự trong mình. Vì mỗi lần ruớc Mình Thánh Chúa vào lòng bằng cách này hay cách khác, là mỗi lần mình cưu mang chính Đức Giêsu Kitô, như Mẹ Maria khi xưa cưu mang Chúa Hài Đồng, và hành động này được lập đi lập lại mãi để nuôi dưỡng và nhắc nhở chúng ta cho đến khi tim thôi ngừng đập.

Chuyện đời con với biết bao nỗi buồn vui, và còn nhiều lýc vô tư quên mất Ngài cô đơn trên thập tự lạnh giá không một ai. Đời nhiều thử thách nặng gánh đôi vai con, tìm về bên Chúa là suối nguồn ủi an.

Lặng thầm nhìn ngắm Ngôi Hai trong Thánh Thể thấy Chúa vẫn mỉm cười tâm tư con bình an. ĐK: Từ đây con biết Giêsu là hạnh phúc thật luôn luôn yêu thương tha thứ xót thương dẫu cho đây thân phận yếu đuối.

Này con xin đến noi gương hy sinh theo Chúa dấn thân nguyện đời con nên nhân chứng Phúc Âm với Thánh Thể Chúa luôn trong hồn con.
