Dear Chaplains, Chaplain Assistants, Youth Leaders, and Knights of the Eucharist,

Happy Easter! As we look forward to our Knight of Eucharist Na‐ tional Convention, may the spirit of the Risen Christ kindle the fire of His love in each one of us and re‐create us in body, mind and spirit as individuals and as the whole Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Society. As we hear in the Easter story, the disciples were in fear, lost in direction, hope and faith in themselves. The spirit of the Risen Christ gath‐ ered them together and rekindled in them faith, hope and their love for God and for people. I feel and believe the spirit of the Risen Lord blessing our VEYS with our Knights of the Eucharist who are full of life, faith and energy.

Your enthusiastic response to the registration process for the national convention dur‐ ing these past few weeks is highly praised. Your actions filled us all with much hope and excitement.

I look forward to joining you at the convention. Please continue to cooperate with the Spirit of God through small acts of kindness to one another. This will be our spiritual bouquet to pray for a fruitful national convention.

THANK YOU to all who joined us for the Registration Kickoff Party. It was a great success with over 150 registrants during the Kickoff Party! To date we have approximately 300 people registered and the number keeps growing.

IMPORTANT: For those who have already registered, do not forget to send in your payment and VAP form/Letter from Chaplain (as mandatory to complete your registration.

REMEMBER: Each Chapter must have at least 1 Youth Leader/Chaplain Assis‐ tant (clergy or layperson)/Parent over 25 years of age. All participants must be minimally 16 y.o. by the start of the Convention.

WHAT: Each Chapter will receive 500 raffle tickets to sell and fundraise for the Convention. Each raffle sells for $2.

HOW: Return ticket stubs before... ‐ 15 May 2012: Return ALL 500 ticket stubs; you keep 50 percent of your to‐ tal revenue. If you continue selling, you continue to keep 50 percent of to‐ tal revenue. ‐ 15 May 2012: Return PARTIAL ticket stubs, you keep 50 percent of your to‐ tal revenue. ‐ 31 May 2012: Return ticket stubs and you keep 30 percent of your total revenue. ‐ 15 June 2012: Return ticket stubs and you keep 20 percent of your total revenue. ‐ All unsold tickets must be returned by 15 June 2012. After this date, chap‐ ter is responsible to pay VEYS back $1 per ticket.

Knight of Eucharist National Convention Travel Awards 1. ELIGIBILITY: Knight of Eucharist National Convention Travel Scholarship Program for is open only to those legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are sixteen through seventeen (16-17) years of age at the time of application and who are active member of the VEYS’ Knight of Eucharist Division. Void where prohibited. ***AWARD WINNER MUST BE PRESENT AT THE KNIGHT OF EUCHARIST NATIONAL CONVENTION TO RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIP PRIZE.

THREE $500.00 AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN 2. HOW TO ENTER: To enter, beginning March 11, 2012, submit a complete scholarship Application no later than May 29th, 2012 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Limit one (1) Application per person. Application must include: 1. A cover page with your Saint name, full name, name of your Region, name of your local Chapter, contact phone number, and a valid email address.

2. A clear copy of your driver’s license or a government issued photo identification.

3. A clear color picture of you in your VEYS’ uniform.

4. A verification letter of “good standing” and “1 year of active VEYS involvement” with signatures from the Chapter’s President and Chaplain.

5. Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your morality and servant-ship qualities (one has to be from a Eucharistic Youth-Leader or Chaplain; letters cannot be from family members; contact information from each recommender must be on the letter).

6. A short original, previously unpublished written response to the scholarship topic, “What are the challenges to your faith as a Catholic in today’s society and how do you plan to overcome those challenges?” Your written response must be written in either Vietnamese or English, with correct spelling and grammar, and it must not exceed one thousand (1000) words.

Community Service Project Video Contest 1. Capture the journey of a local chapter or regional community service pro‐

ject in a video. Video should reflect the theme of the Convention – “Go

forth and set the world on fire” (St. Ignatius Loyola).

2. Video needs to be appropriate for all audiences and should follow the

moral principles of the Catholic Church.

3. Creativity is encouraged. Video content can include songs, dances, skits,

talks, slideshows, etc…

4. Video needs to be submitted online at the form at

Registration Promotional Video Contest Create a registration promotional video for Knights of Eucharist Convention with the theme “Go Forth and Set the World on Fire”. Use your editing talents and imagination to captivate your audience for a chance at $200.00 for your chapter!

Judging Criteria *Video must be under 2:00 minutes. *Creativity in information delivery. *Upload to youtube and send the link to Tr. Ngoc Nga at mtmimosa@gmail.com by May 15 *For a submission to qualify for a prize, it must have at least 50 “likes” on DHHS Facebook *Your video must answer the question, “Why do we need to attend this Convention?” A viewer must understand this convention’s goals by the end of the video.

Knight of Eucharist Official Song Contest The Knight of Eucharist Division is committed to keep up with the social and cul‐ tural changes in an attempt to reach out to youth adults. As such, the Division’s Chaplain is calling all songwriters throughout the VEYS to compete in the Knight of Eucharist songwriting contest to create a new Division’s theme song that reflect today’s youths.

Submissions 1. The lyric of the song must speak to the Knight of Eucharist’s mission to unite with the Eucharist, the universal Church, Vietnam, and youths of today’s world.

2. It must also highlight the 4 maxims of charity, unity, fraternity, and service.

3. Must be in Vietnamese 4. Songs need to be submitted via email to Trưởng Tú Nguyễn:

6. Songs need to have lyrics and should include a music sheet in PDF format.

7. Songs must be from 1 to 2 minutes in duration.
