Community colleges serve as the entry point to higher education for many low-income, first generation, and minority students, making them the most diverse institutions in American higher education. Utilize LinkedIn. Build a professional network as you meet PTK members, advisors, and counterparts at four-year and community colleges. They can become allies and helpful resources along your journey.

Congratulate and Recognize Members. Send swag from your college or the PTK Store to congratulate students on membership acceptance to build affinity!

Hit the Road

Sponsor PTK Membership Fees. Help students access the transformational benefits of membership and build rapport with them by sponsoring PTK membership fees for one or more eligible students. Contact College Relations to get started.

Search and Download. Make the most of your PTK Connect subscription by searching, downloading, and conducting outreach to new prospects who have recently accepted membership and entered the database.

While transfer students appreciate scholarships, they also consider institutions that will accept the most credits.

Connect with PTK at the NACAC National Conference. Visit the College Relations staff in Booth #205 at the NACAC National Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, September 21-23, 2023.

Kick Start PTK Connect Transfer Profile Completion. Contact your institutional research or data management team to obtain data.

Sponsor or Participate in Regional Meetings. Find details for regional events at ptk.org/regional-meetings

Consider hand-delivering items at an upcoming chapter meeting or induction ceremony with advisor’s consent.

Many regional meetings include transfer fairs. Reach out to PTK Regional Coordinators for information on attending, sponsoring, and making connections with students and advisors here.

Search and Download. Set another date to search, download, and conduct outreach to new prospects using your PTK Connect subscription.

Prep for PTK Catalyst. Prepare to be part of PTK’s annual convention, April 4-6, 2024, in Orlando, Florida. It’s the largest gathering of community college honor students and hosts the largest transfer fair in the U.S. Review options to sponsor and exhibit (see pages 10-11), register, and make travel arrangements.

Virtual Transfer Fairs. Sign up for Virtual Transfer Fairs and leverage PTK Connect to personally invite prospective students to attend those online events.

Ensure Transfer Honor Roll Eligibility. Update your institution’s Transfer Profile on PTK Connect by December 31, 2023, and your institution will be considered for PTK Transfer Honor Roll recognition automatically.

Next Stop SPRING 2024

Sponsor or Participate in Regional Meetings. Reach out to PTK Regional Coordinators for information on attending and sponsoring regional events to connect with students and advisors in your geographic area.

Search and Download. Set another date to search, download, and conduct outreach to new prospects who have recently accepted membership and entered the database.

PTK Catalyst 2024. Attend PTK’s annual convention as a sponsor and/or exhibitor April 4-6, 2024, in Orlando, Florida. Leverage PTK Connect and PTK Chapter Advisor List to inform students and advisors of your participation and invite them to visit you (and pick up free swag!).

Think brand awareness—the more you are involved at PTK Catalyst, the more students see your institution as an option for transfer.

Most regions host at least two events per year and draw students and advisors from several colleges in a geographic area.

Embed the URL to your PTK Connect profile into recruiting messages to attract more students to view and favorite your institution. Remember, you can download these ‘hand-raisers’ right from your PTK Connect dashboard!

5 Tips to Launch Your PTK Scholarships Almost There

Update Your Transfer Profile in PTK Connect. Work collaboratively with colleagues to avoid duplication of effort.

Search and Download. Set another date to search, download, and conduct outreach to prospects using your PTK Connect subscription.

Explore the Landscape: Look at what your peer institutions offer transfer students by searching those institutions from the PTK Connect Dashboard.

Update Your Data: Review and update your institution’s PTK Connect profile to make certain that students have the most accurate information when considering your college as a transfer destination.

Increase Visibility: Create a separate listing in PTK Connect for each scholarship your institution offers PTK members and/ or transfer students in general. Each listing will be included in the results list when a student searches your college, boosting your visibility with your audience.

Focus Communications: Instead of sending communications into the void, leverage your PTK Connect subscription to focus on students who best fit your criteria and those most interested in you!

Don’t Go It Alone: Partner with PTK advisors at your target colleges and ask to join them for club fairs and other recruitment events. Students will benefit by learning about PTK and the benefits your college offers PTK transfers at the same time.

Meet with colleagues who assist with importing PTK prospects into your CRM in preparation for the new recruitment cycle.
