THE EVENT IS BACK! A TRUE WIN-WIN-WIN FOR THE CLUB, LOCAL CHARITIES & OUR COMMUNITY Dust off your cowboy boots and join us for a fun night of live country music as Peach Tree Golf & Country hosts The EVENT 9th annual music festival, Friday, August 13th!

Gold recording artist Tyler Rich is back, with opening acts Temecula Road (recently seen on ABC's "The Bachelor"!) and Kaylee Starr!

fantastic classic rock blend of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band.

This phenomenal event was started in 2013, by member John Cassidy, as a way to promote and improve the Club, and raise funds for important local causes.

The EVENT will be held on the driving range which provides an amazing space to safely entertain a large group of people. As there was in October last year and in April this year for previous concerts, there will be some impact to the range and access for members. The stage will start being set Wednesday, August 11 and through Monday, August 16, the driving range will be moved to the lower level on the grass on the east and west side of the stage. The range will operate for use until 1pm on Friday and 3pm on Saturday so we can pick the range and get ready for the show.

Over the years, The EVENT has featured Dave Mason, Pablo Cruise, Temecula Road, Kaylee Starr, The Silver Bullet Band, Tyler Rich and more, entertaining over 10,000 attendees to date.

Most recently, following The EVENT 2020 success, the Club was able to replace and restore a significant amount of concrete cart path with $20,000 raised from ticket and concession sales.

So far in 2021, sponsorship and ticket sales are the highest they have ever been. Our community is truly ready to get back to normal and get back together!

In addition to The EVENT on Friday, we are excited to announce a second show, Saturday, August 14th, featuring CCSegeR, headlined by Paul Holdgate. You'll remember CCSegeR from The EVENT 2018, a

The CCSegeR show will be free to all Peach Tree Golf & Country Club members and ticket holders who attended The EVENT the night before.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE A BRIGHT FUTURE

Peach Tree is looking great. There is a lot of golf being played. The food offerings both at the golf course and City Club are outstanding. With the summer weather, there is no better time to be at Peach Tree. We are truly fortunate to be a part of this jewel in the Yuba-Sutter community.

Over the last few months, I had the opportunity to watch some amazing golf.

Peach Tree hosted one of the U.S. Open qualifiers in May as well as a First Tee tournament and a AJGA tournament in July. There were exceptional golfers, including some of our own young members, playing to qualify for the next level or use the tournaments to improve their competitive edge. I was amazed at the high level of golf that was played. Pretty impressive.

However, the thing that struck me more than anything else was the compliments and amazement about the quality of the course. They were especially complimentary of the greens. One of the young men who played hit his drive, picked up his tee, and then stopped and turned around. He asked if those of us watching were members. After getting our yes response he looked at each of us and thanked us for letting them play our beautiful course. He was especially thankful for the wonderful greens and how well the course was prepared for them. His gratitude was refreshing. I believe he saw what we may take for granted.

This got me thinking a lot about Peach Tree. What can we be grateful for and who makes that happen for each member? For starters, our course superintendent Tracy and his team make Peach Tree one of the best courses in northern California. Our general manager Jeff and his team keep the place going by going the extra mile to make sure the operations run smoothly. Our club Pro Luke and his team makes it fun to come to the golf course to work on our game or go out and play with our friends. Our food service team led by Casey at the City Club and Becky at the golf course keep us well fed with some fantastic food choices. Each member of the Peach Tree team works extra hard so that as members we can enjoy each time we use the club. I believe they all deserve a round of applause and a huge THANK YOU! I am incredibly grateful for my Board and the many people who serve on committees. Their direction and guidance for the benefit of everyone at Peach Tree is invaluable. They make my time serving as the President of Peach Tree a much easier task.

There is one other group I do not want to forget. I really appreciate the membership. Each of you make Peach Tree the special place that it is. You care deeply about the course and what goes on at the club. You support the operations of the club by using it and through your finances. You help us to understand when things need to be changed or we need to get something done. You have also been willing to support our past and continued efforts to make sure the club is on strong footing. Thank you to each of you, our members. I am grateful to be able to be a part of this great club with you.

I hope you continue to enjoy your Peach Tree experience. By the way, just for fun, tell someone at the club “Thank you” for making it a better place for you. It will make us all smile a little brighter.

CLUB UPDATE A FRESH START

By Jeff Munsey Each new round of golf presents a Fresh Start, a new score card and a chance to improve. The same is true for the start of our new Fiscal Year each July. The challenges of the year past are behind and we have learned from our successes and challenges in hopes of a better year ahead.

The past fiscal year was unique in that it all 12 months were impacted by COVID. Now, with things starting to return to a new normal, their is tremendous opportunity for the club in the year ahead to continue to improve member services, build membership, leverage revenue from non member events, and build for the future.

Improving member service is one of our first priorities. When COVID hit, we had to aggressively downsize to respond to the financial impact. Now that things are returning to normal we will be able to fund improved service by adding hours to the office and pro shop so that when you call or stop by the club, someone is there during business hours to assist you. Additional labor has been added for golf operations and the grounds team to make sure the course continues to play well and that service from the first tee to the last is friendly and helpful.

I would like to thank one last time all of our members and staff for their patience and hard work with past year. As we grab a figurative new scorecard for the year ahead, I look forward to building on our recent experiences and success to make the club ever better.

PRO TIPS FROM LUKE How To Chip It Straight Use your knuckles to square the club face and chip the ball exactly where you’re aimed.

Take your normal chipping swing and stop. Look at the knuckles on your left hand (right handed golfer). If you are like most golfers, your knuckles are probably pointing toward the sky. What this means is that your club face is open, and why your missed shots dribble to the right.

As you swing through impact, you want your left hand knuckles to point toward the ground. This means your club face square, allowing you to contact the ball with the sweet spot of the wedge and, more important, with the leading edge pointing to the target.

Think of this as a gentle rolling of the left hand so that your knuckles don’t point at the sky. If you overdo it you’ll start pulling your chips to the left.

ON THE COURSE Rakes In or Out? I may not be the only one who misses the COVID lift and place ‘local rule’ for playing out of the sand traps! Now that the rakes are back in, a common question you might have is where to leave the rakes after you have smoothed out your footprints and playing area from the bunkers. We prefer to leave the bunker rakes placed INSIDE the traps.

Our wonderful Greens Committee and I have discussed and determined that we prefer the rakes INSIDE the bunkers to do whatever we can to improve rough mowing efficiency. We maintain over 100 acres of rough and only utilize two mowers and staff members to handle. We want to keep them mowing as much as possible and to avoid the delay of stopping the machine and getting off the units to move bunker rakes out of the way.

THE LADIES' CLUB

by Panda Morgan, President As a member of the Peach Tree Ladies’ Club it opens the door to participate in many golfing programs and adventures. If you’re not already a member please consider signing up, it only costs $50 per year. You can sign up through the Peach Tree office.

The summer has been busy for our Ladies’ Club members; we’ve participated in club events here at Peach Tree and WGANC/USGA events held within our Northern California Region. Most recently we held our annual two day Peach Cup, participates played for either the Clings or Freestones…….. The challenge was on. This is a fun event with excellent participation from the Ladies’ Club; we only play for bragging rights. This year the Clings dominated the Freestones, but we all had a great time. The Freestones will be out for revenge next year!

Our Invitational was held on June 2nd and 3rd, this is our major event of the year. Invited guests came from various clubs within our region, some from outside our area and one even traveled from as far away as Texas to play.

Hosting the Invitational is no small feat; our committee headed up by Bev Purdom was outstanding. I would like to thank the committee, the office staff for their assistance, and the kitchen staff for the excellent breakfast/lunch and service, the pro shop for coordinating the play and preparing our score cards, the men’s club for all their assistance, various club members who volunteers, and our grounds crew for making our course pristine. We had nothing but compliments from our guests. As you can see, it truly takes a coordinated effort to host our events.

Our Goodwill tournament is fun, the Ladies’ club members invite men from the Men’s Club to play in a one day event, and winners are recognized with prizes distributed after play.

Many of our Ladies’ Club members have participated in WGANC events held within our Northern California Region, these events are held throughout the year for interested players.

THE MEN'S CLUB

by Mike Johnston, President The Men's Club wrapped up an amazing Men's Invitational in June and the fun continues as we Race For The Cup. Current leads are Blue Tees: Tommy Sanchez; White Tees: Craig Russel; Green Tees: Jack Bushey; and Golf Tees: Walt Christiansen.

The Men's Club Championship is just around the corner with qualifying rounds beginning on August 14, 2021. Sign up in the Pro Shop now. Looking for more action? Don't forget to sign up for the upcoming Ryder Cup event on August 28 & 29, 2021.
