International Agreements in Penn State Health Penn State’s College of Medicine has six (6) active agreements. In response to our 2021 Annual Report, Medicine reported the following. 1. Monash University in Australia. Internship MOA signed on December 11, 2020, and is due to expire on December 11, 2025. “Monash remains an engaged and enthusiastic partner. Prior to the pandemic we had completed faculty and student exchanges.” 2. Taipei Medical University in Taiwan. Graduate exchange and dual degree MOA signed on July 12, 2019, and is due to expire on July 12, 2024. “This is an important agreement between PSU-COM’s MPH program and Taipei Medical University. The MPH program has a unique arrangement in place to allow students from TMU to receive their MPH through PSUCOM as part of their medical degree program.” 3. Tokyo Women’s Medical University in Japan. Graduate exchange MOU signed on August 21, 2017, and due to expire on August 22, 2022. “Dr. Dan Wolpaw will be retiring at the end of 2021. Our engagement with Tokyo Women’s dropped off a couple of years ago.” 4. University of Panama. General MOU signed on May 28, 2017, and due to expire on May 31, 2022. “The faculty members leading this collaboration (Drs. Bill and Eileen Hennrikus) have retired from the institution." 5. Eastern Regional Hospital Koforidua in Ghana. Graduate exchange MOA signed on February 18, 2019, with no expiration date. “The Eastern Regional Hospital continues to be an important global partner for PSU-COM and Penn State Health. Prior to the pandemic Penn State Health and PSU-COM had someone in country for 50% of the year. They host our students, residents and faculty. We have hosted leaders from the Eastern Regional Hospital many times in Hershey, introducing them to community partners including Hershey Rotary. Our engagement with Eastern Regional allows for us to engage in clinical care, education, quality improvement projects, and collaborative research. We have several jointly published manuscripts. All of these efforts were underway before COVID19 and will resume as we are able to resume travel.” 6. Lam Dong Medical College in Vietnam. Graduate exchange MOA signed on May 25, 2019, with no expiration date. “Lam Dong Medical College is a valuable partner for our Global Health Scholars Program. We have also hosted individuals from Lam Dong in Hershey.Prior to COVID19 joint scholarly activity was underway with Dr. Tim Craig who leads this partnership.”
