International Agreements at Penn State Greater Allegheny Overview of Penn State Greater Allegheny International Agreements Penn State Greater Allegheny (GA), as a University College campus, is included in the scope of the Vidyalankar articulation agreement and the University of Guanajuato MOU. The Vidyalankar agreement expired on July 25th, 2021, and a renewal is currently in progress. Greater Allegheny does not currently have any other international agreements. In 2018, Global Collaborations had a phone conversation with Chancellor Edmondson and noted the following: PSGA has 461 students (490 last year). This is Jackie’s second year as Chancellor. She would like to have more international students. She visited Puerto Rico and discussed the possibility of an UG exchange, but not sure if PR considered an international destination. EA has embedded programs in PR so likely the answer would be yes. After Hurricane Katrina, PSGA had a cohort of PR students for a semester under a reducedtuition arrangement approved by the Provost. Another geographical area of interest is Nepal and Bhutan as there are local communities from those countries in the area. Aware of EDGE initiative from nearby Beaver and would like to be more involved (one faculty is already participating and traveled to Split, Croatia). PSGA has a Teaching International Program, a group of faculty interested in internationalizing curriculum. Every year they select a region and a topic and include it as part of their class. This year it’s Puerto Rico and social movements (last year – West Africa and immigration). Interested in a Workshop (a special interest in shortterm/embedded study abroad), potentially in conjunction with PS Beaver. Since 2015, GA provided the following feedback in response to our Annual Reports: 1. University of Guanajuato in Mexico. Feedback on 2018 ARIA: “There is no activity with this agreement at Greater Allegheny, but this is part of a University College agreement and there may be activity elsewhere.” 2. Vidyalankar School of Information Technology in India. Feedback on 2015 ARIA: GA indicated that there was no new/continuing activity under the agreement. Feedback on 2016 ARIA: While the agreement renewal was pending, GA noted “PSUGA looks forward to being a partner in this consortium.” Feedback on 2018 ARIA: “There is no activity with this agreement at Greater Allegheny, but this is part of a University College agreement and there may be activity elsewhere.”
