Impact matters This low/no-touch program for stores has donated just over $250,000 to the Big Y community since program inception in 2019.

The Big Y Community Bag Program is designed to make it easy for shoppers to give back to their local communities while supporting the environment. With each purchase of a Community Bag, $1 is donated to a local non-profit organization, supporting civic, education, health & wellness, hunger relief, and military/ veterans organizations.

This Annual Report showcases the impact of the Big Y Community Bag Program on reusable bag sales and local non-profit organizations within the Big Y footprint.

What is Earned Media?

Earned Media is value gained through mentions and reach of the Big Y Community Bag Program across all media outlets. Earned media includes any written material about Big Y that the company has not paid for or written about itself. Each month benefiting non-profits selected for the Community Bag Program generate earned media by sharing their selection with their supporters and in their communities through social media and local news outlets.

When non-profit organizations are selected, they are provided with marketing resources, including social media and press release templates, product images, and suggested campaign calendars to make promotion of their benefiting month easy.
