here’s a lot to look forward to this season at our BIG EVENTS! Be sure to mark your calendar so you don’t miss your favorite one. There has been plenty of enthusiasm from new and experienced committee members as we plan activities and agendas for the numerous exciting events coming this season. The Pro Jam will be outstanding as Mt Snow prepares for a great season with plenty of snowmaking upgrades and great resort facilities. Riders will want to join the fun at Mt Snow by attending the Riders Rally and the +3 event with AASI National Team members and Eastern Education staff. The Children’s Academy will be held in December this season at Stratton. This is a great venue with an exciting agenda planned. And, of course, everyone will want to attend the Spring Rally at Killington. Spring Skiing in Vermont is the best! For a complete look at all of the events be sure to look closely at the Events Schedule in this issue of SnowPro. Following are details of some of the “Feature Events:” Snowsports School Management Seminar Killington, VT On Any Gear! December 3-4, 2008 The 2008 Snowsports School Management Seminar will be held at Killington, VT, on December 3 & 4, 2008. New Snowsports Management Committee Chairperson, Debbie Goslin, and her committee members have responded to your requests and surveys and have put together an exciting schedule of training events and activities for this year’s

event. To receive PSIA National accreditation, your snowsports school director or technical director/ supervisor must attend (annually) the Snowsports School Management Seminar at Killington, or the Southern Snowsports School Management Seminar at Massanutten, VA, on January 12-13, 2009, or the PSIA National Academy. Although only the director or a staff trainer is required to attend, we encourage snowsports schools to send several of your staff trainers in order to take full advantage of the topics being offered. This year’s Keynote Presentation will be by Ski Areas of New York President and ski area insurance expert, Scott Brandi. Scott’s presentation, entitled “Is Your School Exposed?” will bring to light important information that will help you with the management and operation of your school. This year’s seminar will also feature presentations by Dee Byrne, Director of the Vail Snowsports School. Dee will present “Customer Service for 2010” and “Lesson Products for this Century.” These are certainly presentations that you won’t want to miss. As last year, we will have a specific snowboard track for our AASI management and trainers. This year’s event will feature several AASI National Team members and a presentation on children’s equipment by Burton representatives. There will also be an Adaptive track for Adaptive school managers. Rounding out the seminar will be sessions on important topics, such as Exam Updates, Management Roundtables, and Train-the-Trainer sessions,

plus the opportunity to ski and ride with Eastern and National team members. Complete details, lodging information, and a session schedule will be mailed to each school director in early October. PSIA National Adaptive Academy (Hartford Ski Spectacular) - Breckenridge, CO December 7-14, 2008 The Ski Spectacular Hartford is now in its 21st year! Join us at Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, CO, December 7–14, 2008, and be part of one of the nation’s largest winter sports festivals for people with disabilities. Although it involves traveling farther than other events on our schedule, if you can make it you will remember it for a lifetime.
