One of the greatest privileges of leading Bohunt Farnborough is seeing, day after day, the remarkable difference our students make to our school, to one another, and far beyond our gates This edition captures that spirit brilliantly.
From the life‑changing experiences of our Kenya and London trips, to the creativity and courage shown on ERA Day, our students continue to demonstrate what it means to contribute positively to the world around them. Their sporting achievements highlight not only talent, but teamwork and resilience, while the visit from Dame Kate Dethridge enabled us to showcase the impact that young people can have when they are empowered, ambitious and kind.
Every story in this publication reflects the same truth: our students are shaping a community we can all be proud of. Their actions big and small make Bohunt Farnborough a place where difference is celebrated and where making a difference is part of who we are
I hope you enjoy reading about their successes as much as we enjoy celebrating them

Over the October half-term break, a group of students from Bohunt Farnborough took part in a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Kenya, where they made a real difference to the lives of children and families in the local community.
The group worked with African Adventures, a charity that supports schools and community projects in areas of need, to help develop facilities at The Andy Star Academy, a pre-primary school for children aged 3–6years old. The school is in the slum-region of Nakuru where more than one million people live in poverty Working in this environment was something that most of the group had not experienced before. Whilst the school had limited resources, the Andy Star Academy students’ enthusiasm for learning was inspiring an experience that proved deeply eye-opening for our students

One of the team’s biggest tasks was to build a new perimeter fence around the school site a vital addition to help keep the children safe. After completing the construction, students spent time painting the fence in bright, cheerful colours, adding a touch of creativity to their hard work and helping to create a more welcoming environment for the young pupils
In addition to their building work, students had the opportunity to teach lessons in English, using games, songs, and storytelling to engage the children in fun and memorable ways. They also led PE sessions, bringing plenty of energy and laughter to the playground.
Before the trip, the team worked hard to collect a multitude of donations to support the school including clothing, personal hygiene items, stationery, and classroom resources. These gifts were received with enormous gratitude and will make a lasting difference to the children’s education and wellbeing
The trip wasn’t all work, though. Students were also able to explore Kenya’s incredible landscape and wildlife. A highlight for many was going on safari, where they were lucky enough to spot three of the Big Five – Lions, Water Buffalo, and Rhinoceros – an experience they’ll never forget They also spent a day in Nairobi, where they visited the Giraffe Sanctuary and even had the chance to feed the giraffes up close!

Another unforgettable moment was visiting the first African Adventures school, where the group were warmly welcomed by the community. They attended a special religious service, giving them the opportunity to see first-hand the faith, resilience, and teamwork that drive community efforts to improve education in the slum areas of Nakuru.
Throughout the trip, students represented both Bohunt Farnborough and The Bohunt Education Trust with pride and professionalism. Local partners and community members praised their positivity, teamwork, and respect for the culture and people they met.
This was more than just a school trip – it was a cultural and life-changing experience. Students returned home with a deeper understanding of global inequality, a renewed appreciation for what they have, and pride in knowing they made a genuine difference to others. What an incredible experience
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the trip behind the scenes from donating essential items, helping to fund the expedition, to offering guidance and encouragement. Your contributions were invaluable in making this experience such a resounding success.
We look forward to the next adventure, continuing to make a positive impact and support those in need.

Bohunt Farnborough was honoured to welcome Dame Kate Dethridge, DBE, Regional Director for Schools in the South East at the Department for Education (DfE), on Monday 17 November, for a day of insightful discussion, collaboration and celebration of educational excellence. In December, a group of our Year 10 students stepped beyond the classroom and into the heart of the capital, becoming temporary Londoners on an unforgettable residential experience that truly lived up to its reputation as a Gamechanger.
From the moment we arrived, London became our learning space. Students stood in the shadow of history at the Tower of London, explored wonder and discovery at the Natural History Museum, and soaked up the energy and colour of Covent Garden. They witnessed tradition and ceremony at the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, and took in the dazzling Christmas lights of Regent Street - a moment that captured the magic of the city at its festive best.
The highlight for many was our visit to the West End to see The Play That Goes Wrong For some, it was their first West End show; for all, it was a memory that will last.
Our students learned to navigate the Tube and buses with confidence, read maps, manage time, and work together - developing independence, resilience, and self-belief. This trip was made possible by the No Child Left Behind grant from the Youth Hostel Association, who provided excellent accommodation and meals on the banks of the river Thames.
“My favourite part of the trip was having the chance to explore and experience London with my friends, which I wouldn’t have been able to do without the opportunity given by the teachers. I especially enjoyed going to the theatre, as it was a really good show.”
