SPRING 2022 CLASS
Meet the Iotas BY: SAHIL TANNA
After a thrilling recruitment season, 25 new members were successfully initiated into the Iota Class of Pi Sigma Epsilon at Indiana University! The seven-week-long New Member Education experience takes people who just met through an intensive program full of growth, relationships, professionalism, and team-building to eventually become part of the brotherhood. New Member Requirements: Bi-weekly New Member Education Class 4 Active Interviews Weekly Weekly Social Event Case Competition: The Heritage Group Reach Fundraising Goal IU PSE Alumni Interview Community Service SPEA Table requirement Resume + Interview Workshops Attend Weekly Chapter 5 | THE OMICRONICLE
The New Member Education process aims to develop the new recruits both professionally and socially by allowing them to find connections within the large chapter. Newly initiated member, Freshman Ankitha Nagabhushan, explains how "NME was pretty intense but also very fun at the same time. The interviews and SPEA table requirements kept me engaged and allowed me to get to know everyone. I also enjoyed our weekly social event to bond with my fellow Iotas. I would describe Niketh as bad at roller skating. He kept NME fun and energetic even though the music he played at the beginning was often bad and obscure!"
Throughout the entire program, the Iota Class was required to plan a social event each week to ensure they would get to know one another. The social events allowed members to feel more comfortable and see each other in a non-professional setting. Sophomore Jacob Stone agrees with this sentiment saying his favorite moment was "the first Iota social event when we all went to Ryan's house and got to really know each other." The Iota Class Spring Retreat featured them roller skating at a local Bloomington rink. Many members highlighted this as their favorite event with Freshman Benjamin Yoder exclaiming, "the best part was going roller skating for our retreat and seeing all of the fails!"
Freshman and Theta Class member Niketh Bynagari was elected as Director of New Member Education in the Fall of 2021. He stepped up to the big position formerly held by Junior Abby Snodgrass, by leading the Iota class through various PSE learning modules and keeping them on track in meeting their various requirements. Bynagari also selfproclaims himself to be the Iota Class father.
After having completed the entire process, many members reflected on the professional growth they have experienced. Sophomore Ryan Talbot expands on how it has impacted his future. "I have heard some great advice on how to grow your network while at IU, and best prepare yourself for the next chapter following college." Sophomore Mac Hubbard's parting advice to the next new member class is simply to "get to know as many people in your class because they will become great friends for you!" We cannot wait to see the Iota Class excel as active members and we know the memories and accomplishments for them have definitely just begun!

Iota Gallery My favorite NME moment was walking in the rain to awkwardly stand next to our intramural basketball team and watch them lose. Niketh before we walked said “this is going to be fun” and as soon as we walked in, he said “this was probably a bad idea”. - Ankitha Nagabhushan
Iota Case Competition Winners
Iota Confessions I've had the chance to network with companies and employers that I otherwise wouldn't have if it weren't for PSE. - Mac Hubbard I have definitely improved my resume and interview skills. - Kareena Parikh I loved NME! The committee has done market research, designed logos, and merchandise, and also created a Facebook account for him. The committee will also be advertising the grand opening and regular operations. Taylor Edelchik Marketing
If I am being honest, I have no real reason as to why I picked Madrid. I wanted to go to a big city with lots to do. My best friend called me saying let’s go to Madrid and now we are roommates here! This experience is like no other. I am so fortunate that I get to travel to new cities and countries every weekend and learn about so many new cultures. Classes here are way different than at Kelley, and it’s definitely going to be a shock to come back to school and have all in person classes. However, I wouldn’t change this experience for anything as it has really allowed me to grow and become more independent. Taylor's roommate hiking in Mallorca 23 | THE OMICRONICLE

Emily Stabinsky Marketing & Business Analytics, Spanish minor
I am studying in Madrid, Spain this semester and have loved my experience. I chose to study in Madrid to practice my Spanish and fully immerse myself in Spanish culture and challenge myself in a new environment! It has been an incredible experience and learned so much about myself and Spain!

Rome, Italy
Mason Petersen Finance & Business Analytics
I am currently spending the spring semester abroad in Rome, and I love it! I chose to study in Rome for many reasons but some of the main pull factors were the history, culture, and food. Throughout my time abroad, I have been able to immerse myself in the Italian and Roman cultures and gain a better appreciation for the world and Italy. I have also had the opportunity to travel to over 10 countries and many more cities, all of which have their own unique beauties. Taking into consideration all these factors, I would say I’ve had a fantastic experience studying abroad in Rome!

Copenhagen, Denmark
Megan Haynes
Finance & Business Analytics, Psychology minor
Part of my reason for choosing Denmark is that it is one of the happiest and safest countries in the world, but it also has a very friendly and homey culture, which in Danish they call hygge. My experience abroad has been one of the best semesters of my college experience due to the people that I have met and the travel that I have done on breaks. With some of the opportunities that I have had here, I have been able to travel to eleven different countries and try different foods and activities in each one. I have also taken very unique classes such as psychology of human sexuality, international financial management, and photojournalism. As much as I miss IU, I am so grateful I got to spend the semester here and wouldn't change a thing about my experience.

Bangkok, Thailand
Matt Walsh
Supply Chain Management, Intelligence Studies minor
While an unconventional choice, Bangkok was really a place for me to branch outside of my comfort zone and experience a completely new culture to see the world from a new perspective. It has been an absolutely incredible experience to immerse myself in the Buddhist culture that is such a big part of Thailand as well as see everything from the bustling streets of Bangkok to remote mountain villages untouched by external influence. Outside of travel, I take classes primarily for my major as well as a couple fun classes such as business ethics/philosophy. Overall, this semester has been incredible and definitely given me a new appreciation for the diversity of the world. Looking forward to seeing everyone back in Bloomington next semester!

I chose Glasgow because it was an exchange program in a country where some of my distant family still lives and I have always been fascinated by the culture, the legends the beautiful landscapes that Scotland has to offer. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting professors, other exchange students and local Scottish students through my classes in managing across cultures and frontiers, new venture planning and event planning. This is truly a college experience that I will remember forever.

Brett Abbott
Economic Consulting and Public Policy Analysis
I chose Rome because of its great food, its wealth of history and art, and its religious significance. Studying abroad really broadens your perspective, and helps you see your own life and culture in a very different way. In Rome, I have been able to take unique classes, like ones focusing on the High Renaissance and Baroque periods of art in Rome, that give you a chance to learn something new outside of business in an engaging way. I think everyone should consider studying abroad. It really will change your life.

Teen Drama Euphoria recently completed its sophomore season, where each and every episode of the series took over social media on ‘Euphoria Sunday’. In this HBO original an unnamed Californian town turns into a playground for youngsters numbing life’s pain in all the ways they can: toeing the lines of addiction, backstabbing best friends by dating their exes, engaging in brutal violence, or writing the play that depicts it all from the eyes of a bystander.
Behind the scenes.. it was a season littered with accusations of on-set misconduct, shoddy writing, and inter-cast drama; even the production mimicked the almost unimaginable drama that underscores the entire tone of Season 2. Put together, Season 2 was one you either hated or loved. Every Sunday, TikTok and Twitter would be amiss if people weren’t analyzing every metaphor or foreshadowing introduced into each episode, arguing whether the episode was good or bad, fighting over which character was going to DIE in that final episode. Each facet I mentioned earlier could either be the reason you liked or despised Season 2; the shoddy writing was seen by some to be a tool to introduce suspense and keep us on our toes. Scenes of brutal violence were either overt and exploitative or gritty and real. This is about as close as television can get to chaos, and if it wasn’t always a pleasure, it’s at least always been impossible to dismiss as ‘stupid TV’.
Regardless of whether I thought Season 2 was good or bad, I know I’ll be waiting to watch Season 3, slated to come out around 2023-2024. The real question is: Cassie or Maddy? THE OMICRONICLE | 34
