PSATS Calendar
INCLUDES FILING DEADLINES, EDUCATIONAL CLASSES, AND MORE
Featuring Township Historical Places & Spaces
Enjoy Your 2024 PSATS Calendar … and Check Out Our Township Historical Places and Spaces AS PENNSYLVANIA LOOKS TOWARD AMERICA’S SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL IN 2026, IT IS CLEAR THAT TOWNSHIPS HAVE AND CONTINUE TO PLAY A CRITICAL ROLE IN COMMONWEALTH HISTORY. From battlefields and old barns and
bridges to historical homes and one-room schoolhouses, Pennsylvania townships are home to many significant places and spaces that reflect how the commonwealth has helped make America what it is today. We thought it would be nice this year to highlight some of the many historical resources that help to convey townships’ part in Pennsylvania’s growth from the country’s earliest days, as well as attract visitors to enjoy not only those resources but also the many other assets townships have to offer. Be sure to share this calendar with your historical commission staff and volunteers, as well as employees and others who help to maintain these historial sites. As you look through the calendar, you will see that we have once again provided you with critical dates to remember for official state filings, PSATS events, and various educational opportunities. PSATS Executive Director Dave Sanko Education remains an important and valuable part of the Association’s membership benefits package, and we continue to enhance and fine-tune our offerings. Coming up in the first few months of the year are our Boot Camp sessions for newly elected and appointed township officials and staff, as well as veteran supervisors and employees. This comprehensive introduction to township governance and operations will give you a well-rounded overview of the many aspects of local government.
Don’t forget that all your PSATS training is eligible for points in the PSATS Municipal Government Academy. If you’re not already enrolled in the academy, what are you waiting for? Sign up today by calling PSATS or going to pmga.psats.org. (Scholarships are available.) Also, consider signing up for our Webinar PowerPass, which is a terrific bargain. For one low annual rate, all your township’s elected officials and staff can register for as many webinars as they like throughout the year. (The fee for this service appears on your annual dues invoice.) Thank you for your enthusiastic response to our call for photos of your historical assets for this calendar. We hope you enjoy them and use the calendar all year long. Keep up the great work, and be sure to submit photos for next year’s calendar! Thank you for all you do and have a happy, healthy 2024!
Additional copies of the calendar may be ordered online at psats.org in the online store. Dates for training courses listed in the calendar are tentative. Please go to psats.org for the most current titles, dates, and locations.
PSATS Working for You NEW TO TOWNSHIP GOVERNMENT? Townships and PSATS: Growing Stronger Together
S
ince its creation more than 100 years ago, PSATS has watched townships — and the role of township officials — grow and change tremendously, and the Association has grown and expanded its services to keep pace. PSATS’ mission over the decades has remained constant: Protecting and promoting township government; educating, informing, and supporting township officials; and striving for legislation that will better enable townships to provide services at an affordable cost. Today’s township leader faces a full plate of responsibilities, and fortunately, the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors is here to help you. As your membership organization, PSATS provides a wide array of services to Pennsylvania’s 1,454 townships of the second class (including home rule) — and at an affordable annual dues rate. Check out the services that are highlighted each month in this calendar. From educational classes to communications, legislative advocacy, insurance, information, and more, we help you do your job better and serve your citizens well. PSATS celebrated 100 years of service to townships in 2021, and we hope to be here for many years to support local democracy and the township way of life.
Be more successful with PSATS’ Boot Camp!
