PRPSN 2022-2023 Annual Report Project Return Peer Support Network (PRPSN) creates opportunities for connection that enrich and inspire individuals with mental illness to pursue a life without limits.

Programs Overview: 2022-2023 Highlights: Over 50 peer-run groups a week in every Service Area in Los Angeles County and online.

In 2022, our Warm Line expanded to seven days a week providing additional access to non-clinical support.

In September of 2022, we started our reentry program, Peer Education Empowerment and Re-Entry Services. In the first year of operation, we have 314 members.

Hacienda of Hope has maintained a 92% occupancy rate throughout the last year.

New Peer Respite Coming Soon!

This site will expand upon a proven model and provide intentional, community informed, and accessible mental health services.

A peer respite is a voluntary, short-term, overnight program that provides community-based, non-clinical crisis support by peers, individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges. It operates 24 hours per day in a homelike environment that offers space where guests can rest and work on their personal growth and wellness in a safe space free of charge.

4.3% of the adult population in Los Angeles have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness, and 44% of Los Angeles residents say they sometimes or always feel alone.

1 in 8 of all visits to US emergency departments are related to mental health and/or substance use disorders.

Average Psychiatric Hospital Cost

“[Peer respite] has kept me from going into the hospital.

When I feel like I am in crisis but, I am not at a point where I need to go to the hospital but, I need to go somewhere safe..that is what this place is. My last hospitalization was in 2020 and it is 2022."

Why South LA? South Los Angeles residents live at a disproportionate poverty level than residents in other service planning areas, have lower life expectancy, have lower educational achievement, the highest incidences of homicide, and the greatest difficulty accessing health care.

Respite guests were 70% less likely to use inpatient or emergency services.

Respite guests experienced greater improvements in selfesteem, self-rated mental health symptoms, and social activity functioning compared to individuals in inpatient facilities.
