Young golfer tops tournament Lucas Vizzutti qualifies for national tour challenge PAUL GALINSKI reporter@prpeak.com

Lucas Vizzutti won the recent Hills at Portal Golf Club in Surrey, which qualifies him for the national Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour later this year. Powell River juvenile boys golfer Lucas Vizzutti is continuing his winning ways, placing first and second in recent Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) tournaments. As a result, Lucas, who is 15 years old, has qualified for the MJT national tour challenge. At the Hills at Portal Golf Club in Surrey May 30 and 31, Lucas won the tournament by one stroke, capturing the MJT juvenile boys title after posting fine rounds of 72 and 74, for a two-day total of 146. “The first day I played really well and shot even,” said Lucas. “The second day, it was a battle all day with the other golfer [Andy Koh, from Surrey]. We were back and forth all day. He was leading, then I was leading. It was really fun.” As a result of the victory, Lucas qualified for the MJT East Coast junior championship and the MJT national tour. He also qualified for the MJT national tour in 2025, travelling to Niagara Falls. As for this year’s national tour, Lucas said he is most likely going to go, but attendance hasn’t been confirmed yet.
