Tenants have started to occupy Cranberry Business Park, the old Catalyst Paper Tis’kwat mill, with Vertigrow Bios, a strawberry growing venture, now growing strawberries in a controlled environment at the site. Cranberry Business Park is in negotiations with other businesses to have them locate at the former mill site, creating jobs, and adding to City of Powell River’s taxbase. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
Cranberry Business Park, after spending more than $10 million on cleanup and demolition, is now hiring, investing, and has signed agreements in place to grow its industrial property. Thomas Ligocki, chair of the Cranberry Business Park group that has taken over about 75 percent of the former Catalyst Paper Tis’kwat mill, formerly owned by Domtar, said the business park is not waiting and dreaming. “We came onsite last summer, and we started work, demolishing, as well as conducting environmental cleanup,” said Ligocki. “We want to keep people safe, and
