From points north: take 95S to the Atwells Ave exit 21. Go straight through 4 traffic lights and turn left at the 5th traffic light onto Broad St, which becomes Weybosset St. From points south (take 95N to Point St exit 20) and from points east (take 195W to Point St exit 1A): proceed straight at the traffic light at end of exit onto E Franklin St. At Broad St, turn right at the light (Broad St becomes Weybosset St). PPAC will be on the right side of Weybosset. From Worcester/Western Massachusetts: Take 90E to exit 10A (Worcester/Providence, Route 146/20), which will lead to Route 146S (Providence). Take Route 146S and merge onto 95S in Providence. Then, follow directions for “from points north.”

Guests entering PPAC are subject to search at the discretion of management, which may include pat down or scan by metal detector wands. Touring shows mandate that we hold latecomers in the lobby until an appropriate moment in the performance before seating them (sometimes as long as 20 minutes) in order to minimize disruption to other audience members.

SOMETHING ROTTEN! is the “fresh, irreverent, and hysterical”1 musical comedy that follows playwrights and brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom as they set out to write their very first musical and best their more popular contemporary, playwright Will Shakespeare. The show’s humor has been tested, vetted, and carefully calibrated so that theatergoers can have a good time whether they know a lot or only a little about Shakespeare and/ or musical theater. “It doesn’t matter how much you know,” director/ choreographer Casey Nicholaw confirms. “My nieces and nephews say it’s their favorite show that I’ve done and they don’t know any of the references.”

STEVE MARTIN AND MARTIN SHORT, RANGERS and JEFF BABKO, performed 2018 Annual Gala performance. The comedy legends’ show was a mix of stand-up, music, video clips, and interviewstyle conversations. Andy Smith from Providence Journal said, “Forgettable or not, this was a sharp and funny show. Because Martin and Short are sharp funny guys.”
The PPAC Gala is an annual fundraiser for the Theatre’s ongoing restoration projects, ensuring that our historic building remains world-class for years to come. The post-show Gala reception opened with a brief speaking program, with remarks from PPAC President J.L. “Lynn” Singleton and Providence Mayor Jorge O. Elorza.
Those holding Gala tickets attended a post-performance party in the PPAC Grand Lobby. WINNERS OF 2018 ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM* ANNOUNCED
Jo-Ann Ragosta, Chairperson of the 2018 ARTS Scholarships program, along with members of PPAC’s Community Outreach Committee, recently announced the winners of the 2018 ARTS Scholarships program
This year’s program will award scholarships to 34 talented Rhode Island students, aged 11 – 14, each of whom will receive a scholarship of up to $500 to attend a local summer arts education program of their choice.
The ARTS Scholarships 2018 awards will be presented to the winners during a ceremony for recipients and invited guests at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 4:30 – 6P. PPAC Board of Directors Chairman Joseph W. Walsh, Esq. will present the ARTS Scholarships 2018 awards.

AUGUST 6 - 10!
Next Stop Broadway® is a week-long program for children aged 10-17 interested in the performing arts. The program is taught by an experienced staff of Broadway professionals and consists of classes, workshops, and rehearsals focused on classic Broadway shows. Participants (“cast members”) learn songs and choreography from two hit shows from the “Golden Age of Broadway” and create their own presentations based on shows in PPAC’s 2018/2019 Season. In addition to dance and vocal training, the program includes a mid-week “edu-tainment” segment, highlighted with film clips of Broadway shows. The week culminates with an “Opening Night” performance for family and friends on Friday afternoon followed by a cast party in PPAC’s Grand Lobby. Next Stop Broadway® provides a fun, non-competitive environment in which to discover new talents and make friends with common interests! PPAC AND THE VETS STAFF GIVE BACK
Staff members from PPAC and The VETS volunteered at the American Lung Association (ALA)’s annual Fight for Air Climb in late March. Participants climbed 348 steps, or 22 flights of stairs, at the Omni Hotel, raising $200,000 for the ALA.
