From points north: take 95S to the Atwells Ave exit 21. Go straight through 4 traffic lights and turn left at the 5th traffic light onto Broad St, which becomes Weybosset St. From points south (take 95N to Point St exit 20) and from points east (take 195W to Point St exit 1A): proceed straight at the traffic light at end of exit onto E Franklin St. At Broad St, turn right at the light (Broad St becomes Weybosset St). PPAC will be on the right side of Weybosset. From Worcester/Western Massachusetts: Take 90E to exit 10A (Worcester/Providence, Route 146/20), which will lead to Route 146S (Providence). Take Route 146S and merge onto 95S in Providence. Then, follow directions for “from points north.”
PPAC requests that all guests arrive as early as possible and bring minimal personal belongings to the Theatre. Guests entering PPAC are subject to search at the discretion of management, which will include pat down or scan by metal detector. All bags are subject to search; bags that pass inspection must fit comfortably under a guest’s seat. Laptops, briefcases, suitcases, and outside food and beverages are not allowed in the building. Any items confiscated will not be returned. PPAC does not provide an area to check bags, coats, or any personal belongings. Please note that a Providence Police detail is on site at all PPAC events. PPAC management reserves the right to change their security policy or implement any security measures required for any performance without advance notice.

The ARTS Scholarships 2019 program provides talented, young artists with the opportunity to attend local, summer arts education programs that will broaden their experiences in a chosen artistic discipline. To qualify, students must be aged 11 - 14 by June 1, 2019 and reside in and attend school in Rhode Island.

The Next Stop BROADWAY® program, presented by PPAC, will take place at The Vets, August 12 – 16 and will consist of classes, workshops, and rehearsals focused on classic Broadway shows. The week culminates with an “Opening Night” performance for family and friends in the afternoon on August 16, followed by a party for all in the Gallery at The Vets.
Paid registrations are limited to 70 participants (“cast members”), ages 10 – 17 by August 1, 2019 and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Scholarship spaces are available on a non-competitive basis for children with financial need.

Based on the classic children’s novel, Roald Dahl’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY tells the story of Willy Wonka, who is opening his marvelous—and mysterious—factory…to a lucky few. That includes kind and selfless Charlie Bucket, whose bland life is about to be sweetened with color and confection. He and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a mesmerizing joy ride through a world of pure imagination!
David Samuel, who plays Mr. Beauregarde in the National Tour, graduated from the Brown University / Trinity Rep M.F.A. program in 2017. Samuel told The Philadelphia Sun that he hopes that audience members will see - through Charlie - “that love, compassion, and caring for others, and seeing the possibilities in the world can be rewarded and carried forward.”
The Philadelphia Inquirer calls CHARLIE a “laugh-packed, visually fantastical celebration of courage and the power of imagination,” and the Buffalo News says that CHARLIE “delivers eye candy for all ages!”

Based on the hit film, SCHOOL OF ROCK follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who turns a class of straight-A students into grade-A rockers. The cast of SCHOOL OF ROCK includes sixteen kids, ages 9 through 12; twelve of them perform on stage for every performance and four are swings. Most of them can play multiple instruments, and they play extremely well.
“You know, they really can play,” says composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. “It's extraordinary for their age, just how great they are and how together they play. I mean, you would you close your eyes and you say, ‘Oh gosh, this is a band that's played together for years.’ You wouldn't really think that it’s 10 and 11-year olds!”

Dana Brazil is PPAC’s new Director of Education. Dana comes to PPAC from the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, FL, where she served as Senior Director of Education since 2013. Dana received The Broadway League’s Outstanding Achievement in Education and Engagement Award in 2015 and also received an honorable mention for the 2016 Education Tony Award for her work in education and outreach. We are pleased to welcome Dana to PPAC and to Rhode Island!
We fondly remember Elizabeth “Betty” (Conte) Laughlin, who passed away in December 2018. Betty was an avid supporter of the Loew’s Theatre Building and of PPAC, and often attended productions and Galas with her daughter, current Board Director Cynthia “Cindy” Laughlin. Betty was also an enthusiastic participant in the PPAC/The VETS PRIDE Parade contingent over the last few years. Betty possessed an incomparable zest for life, and she will be greatly missed.
We were saddened to learn that a longtime friend and colleague of the Theatre, Steve Parisi, passed away unexpectedly on New Year’s Day. Steve was the President of his family business, Brunca Waterproofing Corporation of Providence. Alan Chille, PPAC General Manager, said, "We have known Steve Parisi and Brunca Waterproofing since 1985. Steve's company initially did a stone restoration project on the façade of the Theatre. Over the years, Steve and Brunca continued to work with us on building restoration projects and became supporters of the Theatre. We have always appreciated his support, and will miss him very much."
