FROM THE DIRECTOR
Jonathan Maerkl Director of Bands
Tradition! Just like the man in Fiddler on the Roof proclaims, the holiday season is full of meaningful traditions. We hope that attending the Providence School Band Christmas Concert is one of yours! And this year, we hope the music you hear will remind you of the many seasonal traditions that bring comfort and joy to your family.
We’ll be performing selections from A Charlie Brown Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas—beloved classics many of you watch together each year. Perhaps your family takes an annual trip to the ballet? You’ll hear favorite movements from The Nutcracker, complete with special appearances from our middle school dancers, as well as a fun reimagining called “Secret Agent Sugar Plum.”
Of course, no Christmas concert would be complete without timeless carols, presented here in both simple and extravagant arrangements. One of the most unique selections of the evening is “We Wish You a Klezmer Christmas,” which blends familiar holiday melodies with the lively style of traditional Eastern European Jewish music.
By the end of the night, we hope you’re on your feet with excitement—and filled with appreciation for all the traditions that make the holiday season so special.

STAFF FOR “TRADITIONS”
The Band Department would like to thank the following people for all they have done to make this night a success. First, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for without his love and help, none of this would be possible.
