The REAL Christmas Story

Page 1

Welcome everyone! Our students have been diligently working on this special production. Thank you, Mrs. Tamburrino, for all of your hard work. Our students have learned that the greatest commandment is to love God with all their hearts; and how simple acts of kindness and compassion can change a person’s life. On behalf of the Tim Anderson, Ph.D. Head of School

faculty, staff and the students at Providence, we invite you to share in the blessed event of this holiday season and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas!

We welcome you to the 2023 Lower School Christmas Program. We know you will enjoy our lower school students as they help us celebrate the birth of our Savior. Today you will experience our students as they use their God-given gifts and talents to bless us and help us share in the joy of the Christmas season. So please relax and DeShuan Mills

Lower School Principal

take the time to reflect on this special event and on the true reason for the season - JESUS. On behalf of the entire lower school faculty and staff we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. In His Service,

The Providence School 5th Grade Exploratory Band meets two days a week during the school day and is a great way to get an early start learning a wind or percussion instrument. This year we have many talented students in our group and I have no doubt that they have bright musical futures as we continue to grow the band program in quantity and quality.

This past March 2nd, the first overall FBA Concert MPA Superior rating earned by Providence in the history of the school was a Straight SUPERIOR (meaning all four judges rated us Superior) and was awarded to our 28-member 6th and 7th Grade Concert Band. A few hours later our 17-member Wind Ensemble earned the second Concert MPA SUPERIOR in school history with a Straight SUPERIOR as well! The vast majority of students in these ensembles started learning their instrument in the Providence 5th Grade Band with Mr. Maerkl. These are the kinds of accomplishments that we can continue to look forward to from our young instrumental musicians as they grow and God blesses our efforts.

— HIS COMPANY — The mission of His Company is to learn to worship God through the art of dance and to lead others to worship and glorify Him in spirit and in truth. His Company provides a unique opportunity for 4th and 5th grade girls to combine creative movement, ballet, and hip/hop with Christian music and Christ-centered values. Our members work very hard and strive to be great dancers as well as young girls that represent Christ. We look forward to sharing our Christmas piece with you this evening.

— FROM THE DIRECTOR —

Dee Dee Tamburrino Music Specialist

As the Producer and Music Director of the Lower School Christmas program, I would like to welcome you to our presentation this evening. Our Lower School is blessed to be able to provide a variety of opportunities for young children to learn to sing, to play instruments, to dance, and to perform onstage. This is the first time in six years that all grade levels have come together to present an evening of music and dance to help usher you into the spirit of the Christmas season.

A special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Holcomb for their contribution to tonight’s program. They were kind enough to open their home to us, decorate it for Christmas in early November, and allow us to invade their space to film them as “the Grandparents” in our production this evening. I would also like to thank Mrs. Tatyana Schlenoff, pianist, and Mrs. Lorraine Roettges, flute, for their musical enhancements to StallionSound’s portion of the program this evening. Additionally, there is a small army of technical and production-minded people working behind the scenes to make us look and sound our best. Thank you for your faithfulness to serve in this capacity with our production this evening. A heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Christine DeCastro and to our NHS students who are present this evening serving as ushers and greeters. I do hope you enjoy our evening together. My prayer is that the true meaning of Christmas is not lost in the hustle and bustle of the season. Gather together as a family. Start a new family tradition and read the “REAL” Christmas story from the Holy Bible in Luke, Chapter 2:1-20. Let us all make room in our heart for Jesus this Christmas.

— SPECIAL THANKS — The Lower School Music Department would like to personally thank the following people for all they have done to make our performance so special! First, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for without His creative gifts being poured out on the Body of Christ, none of this would have been possible. To all those listed below who worked so hard to make this production a meaningful experience for our students and their families – we are extremely grateful. “THANK YOU!” to our founding church, New Life Christian Fellowship, and their talented production staff! We are forever grateful for the use of their sanctuary.
