One of a kind jewellery pieces from Myrtleford artisan FROM his early days studying art, design and jewellery in South Africa, to running his own studio, Myrtleford’s Angus Bendeman has over 30 years of experience in creating truly one of a kind jewellery pieces.

He has successfully used his background as an artist and sculptor to evolve the same love of shape and texture, sensitivity to colour and composition into beautiful and contemporary jewellery.

Each piece of jewellery that he makes is handcrafted at his studio using traditional techniques.

Mr Bendeman can not only create beautiful engagement rings, but also does remodelling of old jewellery, repairs and creates customised jewellery for any occasion.

As well as experience in South Africa, he also worked in London and for many years at some of Melbourne’s top jewellers.

Although he is willing to work with just about any gemstone, Mr Bendeman said that diamonds were his favourite to work with, and he works tirelessly with quality gem suppliers to find the best stones available for his work.

Mr Bendeman said he prides himself on his attentive service, and said his low overheads translate to very competitive prices for his customers.

He works with each client to create a piece suited to their needs, with finishes from traditional to modern, sleek and contemporary.

While he uses traditional techniques, he also embraces the latest technology in the creation of each piece by using computer aided design (CAD).

CARMELA Parkin at A Beautiful Eye Photography loves to create unforgettable images at each wedding she attends.

She has been a keen photographer since the age of 15, and having studied visual arts and spent many years in the print industry, she is well equipped to also create quality prints of her work to adorn your walls after the big event.

“I was the one who always

photographed my friend’s weddings,” Ms Parkin said.

“I tend to attract a range of different personalities in my clients.”

She said she had a natural and easygoing approach to capturing unique shots at each wedding she shoots, and, with the assistance of bridal party members or her own assistant, specialises in “light painting” to create a glowing and softly lit photograph.

A Beautiful Eye Photography does not just photograph weddings, however, with newborn, family and pregnancy photo shoots also among her services.

Based in Albury, Carmela can use her contacts with neighbouring business Arty Pants Entertainment to create pregnancy and newborn shoots with painted pregnant bellies and more.

Love and happiness in the air

FOR former Wangaratta residents Jay Chivers and Jessica Chapman, their wedding day earlier this year was one of the happiest of their lives.

The couple first met as acting students at university a decade ago, and have been together for eight years. “While there is a love that grows every day in the relationship, the foundation of both our marriage and our entire relationship is built on a strong friendship formed before the romance,� Jay said. “We are each other’s best friends.�

Jay planned an elaborate proposal, as he wanted it to be a “complete surprise�.

On the day, he blindfolded Jess and drove her to the spot where he first asked her out, and after removing the blindfold, asked her to read a specially prepared photo book containing the proposal. “She turned to the final photo, which was of me down on one knee, with a ring in my hand, in front of the very spot where we were sitting. “She looked up to find me in that exact same position, wearing the exact same clothes,� Jay said, adding that after Jess accepted the proposal, the pair spent a magical weekend of dining out and a trip to the opera. “It was probably the most magical weekend of our lives, and I couldn’t

have hoped for it to go off any better,� he said.

Jess said that the wedding ceremony and reception were both held at St Andrews Conservatory at the Pumphouse in Fitzroy. “It was a beautiful venue, minimally styled, light-filled – it really worked with what we were after in terms of style,� she said, adding that the food and service was “amazing�.

The theme for the day was clean and minimal, featuring lots of white with greenery and touches of navy.

The pair also took care to remember loved ones no longer with them, including a friend performing a “tearjerking� musical number, and other friends “hijacking� the reception with a choreographed dance.

Jess chose a minimal, art deco inspired wedding dress with embellished sleeves and a low back, while Jay wore a navy three piece suit with tan accessories, and the bridal party were given free rein to wear whatever they wanted. “It was the absolute best day of our lives,� the couple stated. “The atmosphere of so much love and happiness in the air was the greatest feeling.�

The wedding was followed by a honeymoon spent travelling through Europe.
