Elegance, sophistication and charm at The Sebel Pinnacle Valley

BIG DAY: Enjoy your special day at The Sebel Pinnacle Valley. Image courtesy of Jason Robins Photography. IT’S the one day of your life when you want everything to be perfect. Your wedding day is the special day and where better to have that occasion than at The Sebel Pinnacle Valley. The Sebel offers full wedding planning from the moment of contact to when the final guest leaves after it is all over. The Sebel’s resident wedding planner, Kara Smith, has more than 10 year’s experience in coordinating weddings and special functions and is there to be your guide and advisor from start to finish. From organising the perfect spot for taking your vows, to the reception, photography, flowers, hair and make up, guest accommodation and even the bridal suite - as a complimentary gift to the bride and groom –

The Sebel has it all in a one stop venue. The Sebel offers elegance, sophistication and charm for that special high country wedding – or if you prefer rustic style then the stables at The Sebel also have their doors open. The Homestead conference room, which has magnificent views to Mt Buller and Clear Hills, can seat up to 280 guests; or if a marquee is preferred in the gardens then that can be arranged as well. The Sebel’s hotel accommodates up to 150 guests (subject to availability) so when your guests arrive they can arrive early or stay over and make it a holiday. If the hotel cannot accommodate all family and friends then arrangements can be made for guests to stay at holiday rentals nearby

or the budget wise Merrijig Motor Inn – just a hop, skip and a jump from the resort. For the bride and groom special photography can be arranged including helicopter flights to the iconic Craig’s Hut – creating spectacular backdrops for those very special memories. Or perhaps to go rustic and in keeping with the high country there is a horse and cart which can be used for photos or even to transport the bride from the hotel to the wedding place of choice which includes the stables, lakeside and jetty, high on a ridge, or one of the vast lawns with an archway to frame the happy couple. When it comes to choosing a menu for the reception then Jay Hay, head chef at the Peaks Restaurant has an

extensive selection to choose from and the bride and groom are welcome to attend a complimentary food and beverage tasting prior to deciding on the final dishes. Jay chooses all local ingredients and wines to serve with reception menus. Wedding packages can be tailored to suit costs with the average wedding reception starting from $115 per person. The ambience of the Sebel is warmth and charm of open fire places in winter or the coolness of mountain breezes in summer – with in between autumn and spring climates just perfect for weddings in the high country. To enquire on holding your wedding at The Sebel phone Kara Smith on 57775788 or email Kara at events@pvr.com.au or www. thesebelpinncalevalleyresort.com.au.

Photo booth backdrop ideas IF you’re setting up a fun photo booth at your wedding, consider the following quirky backdrop ideas, many of which you can DIY: > lengths of yarn, ribbon or fabric scraps (from hessian to fun prints like gingham or polka dots suspended from a dowel; > garlands of pom poms in the background; > eye catching bunting; > balloons; > create a wall of polaroids or similar instant photos that grow as the night wears on.

Another reason to smile on your wedding day

LOOKING GOOD: Invisalign can help you look your best for your wedding. THE perfect smile for your perfect day is now possible with the help of revolutionary teeth straightening system- Invisalign, according to specialist orthodontist John Brabant, from Evolve Orthodontics. Dr Brabant is a Diamond Elite provider of the Invisalign technology and has over 32 years’ experience working as an orthodontic specialist. “Invisalign is the clear alternative to braces and is effective in treating a wide variety of bite, spacing and crowding issues, and can address other speech jaw and hygiene problems associated with crooked teeth,” he said. “Contrary to conventional braces,

Invisalign allows you to remove the aligners which means you can continue regular daily activities, whether it is playing sports, dining out or just being able to enjoy all your favourite foods, while still being able to brush and floss with ease. “Invisalign is comfortable, hygienic and virtually invisible, in fact, people usually don’t even notice you are wearing them. “Having a picture perfect smile is now possible for the bride or groom on their wedding day, and that smile will last a lifetime.” Dr Brabant said the surgeries in both Wangaratta and Albury use the world’s most advanced 3D computer

imaging technology to map the complete treatment from start to finish. From this plan, a series of custom – made aligners unique to your treatment are produced. Each aligner is worn for one or two weeks and is then replaced by the next aligner, and gradually the teeth will move toward their final position. Some time ago Evolve Orthodontics introduced the AcceleDent device to patients which can shorten their orthodontic treatment time by up to 30-50 per cent. “It delivers gentle microvibrations which accelerate tooth movement something that has proven to be very popular with brides knowing their

wedding day is fast approaching,” Dr Brabant said. “AcceleDent is only available in the region exclusively through Evolve Orthodontics. “So now you can have straight teeth without wearing conventional metal braces and get the same results faster. “Please contact the surgery to arrange a free consultation and to determine your specific treatment and find out if Invisalign is right for you, no referral necessary.” You can contact Evolve Orthodontics on (02) 6021 1288, and the surgeries are located at 24 Murphy Street in Wangaratta and 522 Thurgoona Street in Albury.

Did you know that more than 80% of women feel self-conscious about their smile when they see a photo of themselves?* Not exactly the emotion you want to feel when you look back at photos of your special day. If you think a picture-perfect smile is out of your reach...think again. Invisalign is the clear alternative to braces that can help you achieve a smile to be proud of. Virtually invisible, removeable and comfortable, Invisalign can transform your smile in just a few months. The best part is, a new smile doesn’t wash off at the end of the day - you can enjoy it for the rest of your life together. Book your FREE, no-obligation consultation at Evolve Orthodontics today to see if Invisalign is right for you.

A vine romance at Brown Brothers

WITH its breathtaking scenery, fine wines and fabulous contemporary fare, Brown Brothers Milawa vineyard is the perfect place to tie the knot. This historic Victorian winery offers a host of postcard-perfect locations for your ceremony and reception, with a graceful backdrop of grapevines and majestic Mt Buffalo.

> Say ‘I do’

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a romantic ceremony setting. Exchange vows beside the winery’s tranquil lake, under the shade of age-old oak trees or in the flower-flocked cottage garden, ideal for intimate affairs. After the service, treat your guests to an exclusive wine-tasting experience in the Brown Brothers cellar door while you have your photos snapped around the picturesque grounds.

> Rustic-chic reception

For lovers of fine food and wine, Patricia’s Table beckons for a memorable reception. Head chef Douglas Elder will work with you to create your ultimate menu, drawing on the local region to craft tempting modern dishes, expertly matched to Brown Brothers wines. There’s a range of packages to suit every budget, from a relaxed cocktail-style soiree to an elegant seated reception, kicking off with sparkling wine and canapés on arrival, followed by a three-course meal.

> Find out more

The dedicated wedding coordinator is ready to help you plan your dream day. For details, email weddings@ brownbrothers.com.au or visit brownbrothers.com.au. Brown Brothers is located at 239 Milawa-Bobinawarrah Road, Milawa, call (03) 5720 5540.

THE TWO OF US: Brown Brothers Milawa Vineyard invite you to consider them as the location for your big day.

> DIY touches add individuality

MAKING certain things relating to your wedding yourself is not only a good way to save money on certain aspects of the day, it is a way to personalise your wedding to suit you and your partner’s style. It can also be a fun way to bond with your family and friends as you sit together and work together on handmade projects. One way to put your own stamp on things is by painting an old mirror or similar surface with blackboard paint, framing it if desired,

and writing down the ceremony program on it so that people see it when they get to the ceremony. This can cut down on the wastage that can be created with paper programs and you can always reuse the blackboard in your home later on. If you and your partner are book lovers, creating eye catching table numbers is as easy as affixing washi tape numbers to vintage hardcover books – and this means the

books will not be damaged as washi tape is easily removed. Making your own mix CD of special songs makes for a simple and personalised bomboniere, or try little gifts such as personalising potted plants, order personalised chocolate bars or similar treats, giving each guest a book with a personalised “library card” inside, and much more. If you are a crafty bride, or can bribe a keen sewer to help you, a lovely idea is to get

guests to each sign a plain tablecloth at the reception, which then can be embroidered and used at your first dinner party as a married couple, and kept as a keepsake as the years go by. This idea could be modified for pillowcases or any other item of manchester if you prefer. If you are looking for more inspiration, sites such as Pinterest and Buzzfeed DIY are an endless source of ideas, or take your creative cues from wherever you can find them.

Hotshot Images has edge in wedding photography

WANGARATTA based business Hotshot Images, the photography arm of Noisebox Productions, truly has the edge when it comes to producing unique and professional wedding photos and video. The business is run by Adrian Vaughan, who has been involved in the fast paced Australian television industry for almost 30 years and has worked in photography since 1995, and it’s years of experience that have left him well versed in the visual arts to be able to create truly individual images. Adrian’s expertise is such that he has photographed weddings and other special occasions locally, nationally and internationally. Adrian said that his approach to wedding photography was tailored to suit each individual couple. “Meeting with the couple is essential, as a good chat helps me figure out their personalities, and of course what kind of images they are after, which makes shooting on the day much easier for everybody. “No wedding is the same, more so for each couple, and I really enjoy getting the best out of them for their special day.

“I shoot candid journalistic images that capture the emotion and fun of the moment, to more artistic and dramatic shots. “But the key is to make it fun for all involved. “You end up becoming what I call, ‘the fifth bridesmaid’, because your photographer is, realistically, the most experienced when it comes to weddings. “While everyone is in a daze, we are thinking five moves ahead and can see and put out a lot of spot fires before they become an issue.” Producing videos and broadcast television programs means that clients receive truly watchable and professional wedding videos that people will actually want to watch, with a ‘less is more’ approach to the editing process. Adrian also supplies all images taken at each wedding back to his customers, with no personal use limitations on their reproduction. Specific images are enhanced, resized or put through different post-production processes to create images that leave a lasting impression. More information on Hotshot Images, including several wedding images that Adrian has shot over the years, can be found on the company’s website at www.hotshotimages.com.au.

Sweet designs from Angela’s kitchen WANGARATTA’S Angela Baldwin learned at her mother Robyn’s knee all the secrets that go towards creating the perfect cake or dessert. “If I wanted to spend any time with my mum, that meant spending time helping out in the kitchen,” she said of her childhood with parents who were experienced pub operators in Yarrawonga. “My favourite part of helping, of course, was helping mum make all the desserts for the menu, a lot of which were based on family recipes that had been perfected over a long time, and I loved being a part of that tradition. “So my baking instruction began at a very young age, and I learnt all I know from my mother Robyn – hence the company name “Little Red Robyn”, as I named it in honor of her and all she taught me.” She has run her own business for the past three years and is very popular with clients not only for weddings, but for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. She said that currently, ‘naked’ or roughly finished cakes, topped with fresh flowers or sitting on a rustic setting, are among the most popular available. “There is also a big shift back towards larger cakes that can be used as dessert,” Ms Baldwin said. “Also, laser cut toppers are very popular.” She has had an eventful year, recently auditioning for the Great Australian Bake Off and reaching the final round of precontestant selection. “I really focused on my family and the beautiful produce we have in this region, as there was so much to talk about,” she said. “It was a very eye opening experience

and a lot of fun, and has increased my repertoire tenfold.” When it comes to weddings, Ms Baldwin also enjoys making cakes that reflect details in the wedding dress, such as the lace details, buttons, and more, and her wedding cakes have ranged from traditional to quirky numbers such as a Day of the Dead rockabilly inspired cake. She creates cakes for a number of occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, christenings, naming days, confirmations, hens days, baby showers and engagements. “I also make cupcakes and cookies as an entire order and have done dessert tables a number of times now,” she said. “I also do hampers at Christmas time full of homemade goodies.” She prides herself on being able to work in with clients in a flexible manner, from having meetings and tastings if time allows, to keeping couples in the loop via email. “It’s all about giving them what they need,” she said. “I really don’t think there is anything better than doing something that can make other people happy for just a little while, even if it’s something as simple as making them a pretty, yummy cake.” She has an extensive range of cake flavours and fillings available, including several mud cake varieties, apple spice, red velvet cakes and more, with filling options ranging from salted caramel to French vanilla, and there are also gluten free and dairy free options available. More information is available on the Little Red Robyn Cake Design Facebook page or by contacting Angela on 0402 119 473.
