Rustic autumn theme equalled romance AN intimate April wedding, coupled with a larger reception, helped Wangaratta couple Jamie and Josh Stafford create a meaningful celebration for their wedding day.

The celebrations began at midday, with a private ceremony including just a handful of invited guests, held at Chestnut Tree Apartments in Bright.

"A midday ceremony allowed us to have plenty of time for our amazing photographer Nick to capture some beautiful locations in the alpine areas," Jamie said.

"We then joined about 90 of our family and friends at our evening reception at the Oxley Shire Hall to celebrate our marriage.

"The theme was Rustic Autumn."

The couple have been in a relationship for just over nine years, initially meeting through mutual friends when they both attended Wangaratta High School, and beginning to date soon after they left school.

During their relationship, they have built their home and had two children (Ava, aged four, and Liam, aged one year), and -RVK SURSRVHG WR -DPLH ͤ YH \HDUV DJR RQ New Year's Even when the couple were enjoying a romantic holiday on the Gold Coast.

Jamie said her wedding dress came from Michele's Bridal and Formal Wear, while Cheeky Bits Boutique took care of hair and makeup.

At the reception, catering was provided by The Elements Catering and Cakes, and music was provided by Haze DJ Entertainment.

Jamie said that while they didn't have DQ RIͤ FLDO EULGDO SDUW\ WKH FRXSOH KDG RQH close friend each attend the ceremony.

"They chose to wear navy blue and burgundy, which were common theme throughout our autumn wedding," Jamie said.

"I think having an intimate ceremony, feeling like it was just us, made the day special.

"This also gave us the opportunity to spend almost three hours with our photographer exploring the pine plantations,

"Josh and I also had some time to ourselves reflecting on our vows we just made."

Jamie said one of the best moments of the day saw them celebrating with their children as a family.

"One special moment was when we had RXU ͤ UVW GDQFH "Once we started dancing, our kids ran up to us, also joining in.

"So there we were, dancing as a family of four."

The practical side of marriage GETTING married is an exciting time, but while you're organising your wedding, don't forget to also be aware of the practical boxes you have to tick to make sure your marriage is recognised under the law.

In Australia, the law allows marriage between both opposite-sex and same-sex couples.

To get married, you have to meet the state's eligibility requirements, lodge a notice of intended marriage (NOIM) at least one calendar month before your intended wedding date, be married by either a registered civil marriage celebrant or an authorised minister of religion, and have two witnesses attend your wedding ceremony (family members or friends who must be at least 18 years old).

To be eligible to married in Victoria, you must be aged 18 or over – or, if you're between 16-18, marrying someone who's at least 18 years old. 16-17 year olds must get a court order from a judge or magistrate allowing the marriage, and written parental consent.

You cannot be already married to somebody else, or marry a close relative.

WITH today's couples making more and more wedding day fashion choices reflecting their personalities and style, a survey by The Knot shows brides and grooms are more invested than ever in their wedding looks..
