issues they felt needed to be addressed in the King Valley as a matter of priority. Dozens of diverse issues were raised by those in attendance, many to do with lack of sufficient

infrastructure, but the need to have the road fixed - and road and pedestrian safety dominated. While the group expects to be officially formalised during their May meeting

when a committee is formed, a spokesperson confirmed the road “came up and lot” as needing attention. The Moyhu Action Group has also confirmed it fully supports the King Valley Infrastructure Project in its efforts to see the Wangaratta-Whitfield Road upgraded. Chairperson Deanne

Burge said the rapidly growing township of Moyhu is seen as the “gateway” to the King Valley, located halfway along the Wangaratta-Whitfield Road. She said the Moyhu community had no option but to use the WangarattaWhitfield Road whether traveling south into the valley or north out of the valley.

“Our lived experience is that the WangarattaWhitfield Road is not fit for purpose,” she said. “The main problems are the poor quality of the road surface, the narrowness of the road and the lack of significant sealed shoulders. “These conditions are made worse by the increasing numbers of tourists making the King Valley a year round destination. ■ Continued page 2
