New hospital CEO LIBBY Fifis has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) and will commence in the role late next month. Her appointment to lead Wangaratta’s largest employer, with over 1400 staff, comes after a rigorous process conducted by NHW’s board of directors in conjunction with the Victorian Department of Health.
Libbyy Fifis welcomed as she takes on top p jjob at Northeast Health Wangaratta g NHW board chair Jonathan Green said Ms Fifis is an experienced and well-respected senior health executive who has held a wide variety of executive roles across regional and metropolitan Victoria in public, private and not-for-profit sectors. “Libby comes to the CEO role with strong clinical
and leadership skills, a deep knowledge of the Victorian public health system, and a solid track record of successfully meeting challenges presented her,” he said. With a nursing background, Ms Fifis previously held the position of executive director clinical services at NHW
(2016-2018) before taking on the role of CEO at Stawell Regional Health. Most recently she has led the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee team as its general manager and director of clinical services. With a passion for regional health equity, Ms Fifis said she is delighted to be returning to NHW in the
capacity of CEO. “I am really excited to be part of the next phase of NHW and privileged to have the opportunity to lead an incredible team of people who are clearly passionate about improving health outcomes in their local communities,” she said. ■ Continued page 2
