NEXT CHRONICLE will be out tomorrow... Thursday, April 14 due to the Easter holidays
SPREADING EASTER JOY THE Easter period just became a bit brighter for residents of Wangaratta aged care facilities following a visit from Wangaratta Lions Club members. They organised delivery of $150 worth of chocolates to Rangeview, St Catherine’s, St John’s Respect and Illoura to ensure residents shared the joy of Easter. “The children are well looked after at Christmas so we thought we would treat the older members of our community who may well be on their own this year,” Wangaratta Lions Club treasurer Bill Michalowski said. outdoor pool has staged and it will be a major weekend on January 21–23 next year. “The venue is about what events and attractions it will bring to Wangaratta that will benefit the retailers, the hoteliers, the restauranteurs, and café businesses and with 600–800 competitors who usually have 2–2.5
people with them each, it will bring people,” he said. “It will bring in a couple of million dollars over the weekend and this means more security for businesses to stay open, and also people to the area who might contemplate a permanent move to Wangaratta or surrounding towns.” Council sports, aquatic and events precinct manager, Penny Hargrave, said it will be the first time that the championships will be held at the centre.
“It is a great opportunity to showcase our new heated outdoor 50m pool,” she said. “Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre (WSAC) has recently undergone a major upgrade, which includes new changeroom facilities, upgraded lighting and of course the new 50m outdoor pool, making the Wangaratta facility the ideal location to host the championships,” she said. The event will begin a busy year for WSAC and the Ovens and Murray District
