A GROUP of Yarrawonga locals want the municipality to “Yexit” the Moira Shire and join Wangaratta as an option to acquire the infrastructure and management they believe their town deserves. Going by the name of

the Yexiteers, the group is fed up, and ideally want Yarrawonga to go it alone as a municipality, however, they believe joining the

existing towns within the Rural City of Wangaratta could be an option. The Yexit movement was the brainchild of locals Nick Dykes and Johnny Leary Jr in 2022, after years of frustration due to what group members say has been

a lack of infrastructure and “complete mismanagement” of funds by the Moira Shire. Despite administrators set to govern the shire until October 2028, the Yexiteers want action now due to the lack of progress and they’re calling for more

infrastructure such as an indoor pool. In December 2023 group member and long-time resident Daine Runnalls used his creative focus to garner support for their cause by creating a song which has had more than 12,000 views. As of this week the Yexit
