More than a fun run for Jackie By BAILEY ZIMMERMANN LOCAL masseur Jackie Hobbs (pictured) couldn’t think of a better cause to step out of her seven year running “retirement” at the Wangaratta Chronicle Marathon and Fun Run in March. Ms Hobbs will be joining Centre Against Violence Wangaratta’s (CAV) team of runners at the 5km start line to help raise awareness of their services and make a community stand on family and sexual violence through the healthy and connected activity. Purchasing herself a fresh pair of bright white Adidas runners over Christmas for the March 17 event, Ms Hobbs said she felt inspired to step back into running and proud to support CAV’s zero tolerance for family or domestic violence in the community. ■ Continued page 3

didn’t get it, but we know that it could’ve happened – we look at places like Yea and Seymour (both subject to major flood and evacuation warnings),” she said. “So I think people will be (concerned about) that ‘boy who cried wolf’, but it’s better to be prepared

than to get caught out and I think we definitely saw that (last) Tuesday night (when 54.4mm of rain fell) and the impacts that had. “We were proactive and the community was really proactive, and we had a great result in the end. ■ Continued page 2
