THE tribe has spoken, and long-time Australian Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia is reluctantly leaving the franchise.
“I have loved and will dearly miss the immensely talented crew, all the crafty players and our loyal sassy audience,” LaPaglia posted on Instagram in announcing his departure. “I’m a huge fan of this incredible game, always have been, always will be.”
But he’s not leaving without one last hurrah.
“Don’t pull out your hankies just yet, l’ll still be at the helm for Australia v World best season EVER!”
Yep, JLP’s swan song is set to be an absolute doozy, with some of the game’s most legendary Aussie players taking on a ‘World’ team of previous castaways from the US, Québec, South Africa, New Zealand and Finland.
From fan favourites (Luke Toki, Kirby Bentley and the “Godmother” Janine Allis) and former winners (self-crowned “Golden God” David Genat, who is also rumoured to be La Paglia’s replacement) to the real game players (Sarah Tilleke) and ones we love to hate (“King” George Mladenov, Shonee Bowtell), the producers have assembled a top-notch bunch of contestants for LaPaglia’s farewell party.
Who will outwit, outplay and outlast the best of the best? The Aussies should have a strategic advantage over the World team, with existing alliances, but several of these are in tatters after previous seasons, and there are some serious Survivor talents on the World tribe – including US icons Parvati Shallow, Tony Vlachos and Cirie Fields – so it’s no sure thing.

LIMITLESS: LIVE BETTER NOW
Streaming from Friday, Disney+
After probing how we can live longer in the first Limitless series, Chris Hemsworth is now exploring how we can live better. He learns a new skill – playing the drums – ahead of a performance in front of 70,000 fans at an Ed Sheeran (pictured, left, with Hemsworth) concert; embraces risk by scaling a 200m dam in the Swiss Alps and takes part in South Korean Special Forces training.
Now, 27 years later, another Darling girl, Frankie, is missing, and it’s bringing up all sorts of memories for everyone in the small town where she lived, especially Gracie’s best friend Joni (Morgana O’Reilly, The White Lotus).
Joni was there the night Gracie (Kristina Bogic) disappeared; when a séance at a cabin deep in the bush went horribly, terrifyingly wrong.
And it seems there may be a supernatural link to Frankie’s disappearance too – the teens around town now get their kicks playing “Gracie Darling”, a spooky game meant to
Now a child psychologist, Joni has a professional as well as a personal interest in the case, which local cop Jay (Rudi Dharmalingam) has roped her intohelping out on. But they will both have to confront some pretty haunting memories from their past (Jay was there on the night Gracie disappeared too) if they are going to get to the bottom of these mysteries.
“This show is gritty, real and perfectly spooky,” O’Reilly says, offering another hint that otherworldly influences are at play here.
Creator Miranda Nation describes her atmospheric thriller as “an ode to the power of friendship and society’s fear
BUTTERFLY
Streaming, Prime Video
This new spy thriller series stars Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim as a former US operative living in South Korea who reconnects with his daughter (Reina Hardesty, pictured with Kim) – who spent the last decade thinking he was dead, and becoming a spy herself – when she is tasked with the job of killing him. While patricide may not be on the cards, their reunion is anything but smooth.
O’Reilly does a great job anchoring things, and is surrounded by an impressive supporting cast that includes the amazing Dame Harriet Walter (Succession), Celia Pacquola (Rosehaven) as the mother of missing Frankie, and Anne Tenney (The Castle) the Darling matriarch, who is still praying her daughter will return home.
“This is a cast of incredible actors,” O’Reilly agrees.
“I’ve found myself in the middle of a scene hoping I’m living up to what they’re putting down.”
Rest assured, rising star O’Reilly nails her performance.

Gordon Ramsay has been doing his thing long enough that when struggling restaurants see him coming, they try to cover up their failings. So in this new series, he is going undercover to try and figure out what is really going on. In tonight’s episode, Ramsay is in Phoenix, Arizona, home to Mrs White’s Golden Rule Café – a legendary soul food joint on the verge of destroying the legacy of its 101-year-old founder Elizabeth (pictured with Ramsay). Breaking in by the back door, Ramsay finds things are pretty grim in the kitchen. It doesn’t get any better as he watches the team via hidden cameras – with White’s son, owner Larry, looking like their biggest problem of all.

PROFESSOR T
ABC TV, Friday, 8.30pm
This very solid British crime drama (which is actually a remake of the Belgian series of the same name) stars Ben Miller (pictured, Austin) as the titular Professor, who teaches Criminology at Cambridge University. Professor Jasper Tempest has obsessive-compulsive disorder, so his life is one of cleanliness and order – and it’s about to be completely upended when one of his former students, DS Lisa Donckers (Emma Naomi), ropes him into helping her out on an investigation. In Friday’s premiere, when a student is sexually assaulted at the university, something about the offender’s MO seems familiar to Donckers. So she reaches out to the genius professor to get his take on the case.
THE ROOKIE Seven, Monday, 8.55pm
HOME AND AWAY
Fans of this police series have been eagerly awaiting its return, and now season seven has finally arrived on our shores. Original rookie John (the always likeable Nathan Fillion) is back in action after taking a bullet, but is feeling every bit of his almost 50 years. Meanwhile Lucy (Melissa O’Neil, pictured) and Tim (Eric Winter) appear to be moving on from their break-up and are put in charge of a new pair of LAPD rookies – nervy Seth (Patrick Keleher) and cocky Miles (Deric Augustine) – who find themselves thrown right in the deep end. With baddies Oscar (Matthew Glave) and Jason (Steve Kazee) still on the run, things soon take a high-stakes turn.
Seven, Tuesday, 7pm
It’s never easy saying goodbye, especially when you’re part of the furniture like Irene Roberts (Lynne McGranger, pictured) is in Summer Bay. But after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Irene knows it’s now or never if she wants to see the world. She has called the Bay home for more than three decades – maturing from a despicable drunk into a down-to-earth matriarch – so you can bet this is going to be an emotional farewell all around. None more so than for McGregor herself, whose time playing Irene made her the longest-serving female actress on Aussie TV – and finally scored her Gold and Silver Logies earlier this month. Worth a watch, even if you haven’t tuned in for years.

HEALTHY BIRDS
By RSPCA KNOWLEDGEBASE
If you are considering keeping birds, it’s essential to understand what a healthy bird looks like to help you with your decisionmaking.
Birds are very good at hiding signs of illness, which can make it tricky to spot when something’s wrong.
If you’re considering buying a bird, take a moment to observe them quietly in their cage for a few minutes.
Often, subtle signs of illness will appear once the bird relaxes.
While a full health check should always be carried out by an avian vet, there are signs you can watch for yourself.
These include drooping wings or difficulty standing, open-mouth breathing or with exaggerated body movements, poor feather condition, patches of feather loss, discharge around the eyes or nostrils, sneezing, stained feathers above the nostrils, dirty feathers around the vent, unusual droppings (very watery, oddly coloured, or poorly formed).
Stress may cause some watery droppings, but these should settle in 10-15 minutes.
If you’re confident handling the bird, gently
check that the breast area isn’t too fat or too thin, and that the abdomen isn’t distended. Ask whether the bird has been tested for diseases.
DNA testing can now detect viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections, but accuracy depends on the right samples being collected and interpreted by an avian vet. Birds should also be tested for parasites.
Different species are prone to different issues and it’s best to have your avian vet do the testing and interpretation.
If you have any concerns, request a vet check within three to seven days of purchase and make sure there’s an agreement in place in case health issues are confirmed.
Bringing birds into your home can be a joyful and rewarding experience but it starts with making sure your new feathered friends are healthy.
It’s important to know that captive-bred wild animals should not be kept as pets unless the species has been clearly identified as being suitable for this purpose and their welfare needs can be met in a home environment.

Overwhelmed by health advice?
By BELINDA McPHERSON, BHSci. NATUROPATHY OF SEED HEALTH SOLUTIONS
Many clients present with a long list of things they “have to do” to be healthy.
They have been very proactive in learning about gut health, stress, or menopause in podcasts or social media, following this influencer or that celebrity.
They talk about a long list of restrictive diet and lifestyle things they “must do” for conditions they don’t have in order to be healthy.
They are focused and fixated on a certain food, supplement or style of exercising to fix a pathology that is common but which they don’t have.
All because someone said they “have to have this one supplement/food to be healthy”.
It’s overwhelming and confusing.
Most of what these clients say is correct to a degree, but it is not always correct for every person I see.
Because the information that is coming from these celebrities or influences is mostly
incorrect, biased, unproven, or simply not relevant for the person sitting in front of me.
Do you ask your mechanic for advice on how to manage your health?
No - so why are you taking advice from someone who is paid to sell a product or has no qualifications in health and has no idea about your history or health concerns now?
During a consultation with you, we talk about your concerns; what has worked, what hasn’t, what is your pathology like, what is in your family history that may predispose you to certain health conditions as you age or as you enter pregnancy, and more.
Then we weed through, connect the dots, and formulate a plan that is specific for you at this stage of your life - not what a 20-yearold influencer is recommending for your perimenopause.
So if you want a simple, easy to follow, specific healthcare plan for you, and you only, then touch base with me.
Check out my social media and website and inform yourself with advice from a university qualified naturopath that serves you as a whole person - not the general public.

WINTER
Spring-like conditions at our alpine resorts
By JEFF ZEUSCHNER
This week kicked off with a continuation of spring-like conditions which have prevailed at our alpine resorts for the past week, but snow is forecast from Friday and into the weekend.
While both Mt Hotham and Falls Creek have only seen a few centimetres of natural snowfall in the past week, sub zero overnight temperatures and cool conditions, despite the sunny and clear days, have helped the resorts retain average snow depths still over the magic metre.
All lifts remain operating at both resorts, with all terrain available for beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders, as well as snow play at tobogganing available at Windy Corner (Falls) and Wire Plain (Hotham).
Cross country options also remain varied at both resorts, with Falls’ 24kms of groomed trails ranging from excellent to poor.
Dinner Plain started this week with
the Cobungra Platter ski lift operating, tobogganing on Australia’s longest run, and cross country skiing on local trails available.
At Mt Buffalo, Dingo Dell toboggan run is closed due to insufficient snow but Cresta Valley toboggan run is open, but icy and fast, in particular in the mornings so take care and make sure you walk up the sides to avoid collisions.
Cross country trails remain in fair to good condition are are best for beginners while the ‘off trail’ back country areas offer the best cross country skiing for more experienced skiers and are skiing well on packed icy snow (softening later in the day) .
Remember you must carry chains when visiting the alpine resorts and fit them when and where directed.
And ff you’re headed to the snow make sure you take the sun screen.
