THIRTEEN teams of celebrities and their loved ones meet host Beau Ryan at the top of the world – that is, the Shanti Stupa temple in Pohkara, Nepal – but they won’t be there for long.
The most amazing experience of their lives awaits, but so do some seriously challenging tasks that will put their dearest relationships to the test. While four couples, two sets of best friends and four pairs of siblings are taking on the gauntlet, it’s especially fun to see how famous parents fare under extreme pressure.
Lindy Klim, Brendan Fevola and Gretel Killeen are participating with their respective daughters, Stella, Leni and Epiphany.
“She’s funny, tenacious, smart and kind,” former Big Brother host Killeen says of Epiphany. “We can be honest with each other and call a spade a spade, in the way that perhaps only mums and daughters can.”
Killeen’s passion for humanitarian work and travel have seen her visit close to 70 countries, even taking a four-year-old Epiphany to Vietnam.
“Since she was a little girl, [we] have travelled to many destinations around the world, often under very challenging circumstances,” she says. “We travel well as a team, but we can of course also disagree.” Humour, honesty and butting of heads are sure to ensue – but will their close ties be a help or a hindrance in the first leg of the race?

STREAMING A FAMILY AFFAIR
Streaming from Thursday, Paramount+
As one of television’s most beloved on-again, off-again couples, Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) have been through a lot (including a surprise baby and a faked death). And after some relatively quiet years living in Paris raising their daughter Tali (Isla Gie), the former NCIS colleagues are finally finding themselves in a comfortable, predictable place.
But what have “Tiva” been up to all this time? Slowly but surely, this energetic spin-off promises to fill in some of the gaps in the background of their next adventure.
“We haven’t seen these characters since 2013 and I think the fans have always wanted to see what happened between them,” de Pablo told a trade show in Cannes last year. “In our first season, they’re going to get a fix of what has happened.”
But this is Tony and Ziva we’re talking about… things are never boring for long where these two are concerned.
Indeed, Weatherly and de Pablo have promised fans “an unforgettable journey packed with lies, spies, danger, desire… and self-driving murder cars”.
“Expect intrigue, romance, the background of Europe, impossible situations that will make our lives very complicated,” de Pablo added.
THE BRUTALIST
Streaming, Netflix
Clocking in at 215 minutes long, this tribute to the immigrant experience might be as ambitious as the visionary architect at its centre. Brady Corbet’s period epic follows the trials of Jewish-Hungarian architect László Tóth (an Oscar-winning Adrien Brody, pictured, right, with Alessandro Nivola), a Holocaust survivor fighting to make his American dream a reality.
On the run: Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo return to their NCIS roles alongside Isla Gie as Tony and Ziva’s daughter, Tali.
DEATH VALLEY
Streaming, BritBox
This witty take on the murders-in-a-quaint-British-village genre stars Timothy Spall as John Chapel, a retired actor best known for playing a TV detective who is roped into helping solve a real-life crime after one of his neighbours turns up dead. Acting as Chapel’s perky foil and dragging him into the case is detective Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth Keyworth, pictured with Spall), who happens to be his biggest fan.
The series begins with Tony’s security company being targeted by a complex cyber attack, Tali and her SAS-trained nanny stalked on the streets of Paris, and Tony and Ziva landing atop Interpol’s most wanted list.
To clear their names and keep their daughter safe, they must go on the run across Europe as they try to figure out who is trying to frame them and why. Along the way, might they learn how to trust each other again – or maybe even more?
“It’s an epic love story about two people going on a journey,” de Pablo teased at a recent Comic-Con panel.
Added Weatherly, “it’s not a ‘will-they-or-won’t-they’. It’s a ‘when-will-they?’.”

THE RUNAROUNDS
Streaming, Prime Video
This sort-of spin-off from Outer Banks tells a fictional story about the formation of the real band The Runarounds (played by Zendé Murdock, Jeremy Yin, William Lipton, Axel Ellis, and Jesse Golliher, pictured from left). The boys decide to dedicate a summer to pursuing their dreams of rockstardom, with the usual coming-of-age dramas (like first love) offering plenty of distractions along the way.
LILO & STITCH
Streaming, Disney+
The charming Disney animation gets a live-action adaptation that stays faithful to the original while managing to keep things fresh. When a fugitive alien crash lands in Hawaii, outsider orphan Lilo (Maia Kealoha, pictured) adopts him, thinking he’s just a funny blue dog. Stitch may not be man’s best friend, but this crazy, chaotic character might just prove to be to Lilo’s.
HIGHEST 2 LOWEST
Streaming from Friday, Apple TV+
Denzel Washington (pictured with Ilfenesh Hadera) reunites with director Spike Lee for this crime film about a music mogul targeted by a ransom plot in a reimagining of the 1963 Akira Kurosawa masterpiece High and Low. The kidnapper claims to have taken his son, but they’ve accidentally snatched the son of his long-time friend and driver Paul (Jeffrey Wright).

GREAT AUSTRALIAN ROAD TRIPS
SBS, Thursday, 7.30pm
Claudia Karvan and Steph Tisdell are back behind the wheel for the finale of this delightful series that proves it’s as much about the journey as it is the destination. Along the way, it has taken in some of the country’s top drives, but the good company of our companions has been just as important as the scenery. This time, they are headed south from Sydney on the Grand Pacific Drive. First stop is the Royal National Park, where they learn about a platypus conservation effort. Then, it’s back on the road along the coast, over the Sea Cliff Bridge en route to an unusual servo in Port Kembla. Also on the itinerary are a doughnut stop in Berry and whale watching in Jervis Bay.
THE FAMILY NEXT DOOR
ABC TV, Sunday, 8pm
A sizzling summery soundscape and sunburnt cinematography turn up the heat in this superb Aussie mystery, which has just two chapters left. So far, the slow-burning suburban series has been rather light on major reveals… or indeed, details of what it is that Isabelle (Teresa Palmer) is looking for. In Sunday’s penultimate episode, she turns her attention to neighbour Barb (Catherine McClements, pictured) and her plans to leave Pleasant Court. After offering to babysit for Essie (Philippa Northeast) and Ben (Tane Williams-Accra), Isabelle takes the opportunity to search Barb’s house for answers – but at the same time, Ange (Bella Heathcote) is rifling through hers. Both women make discoveries that set the stage for a bombshell finale next week.

TAKE 5 WITH ZAN ROWE
ABC TV, Tuesday, 8.30pm
Using five songs to unlock the inner thoughts and memories of celebrities who all too often prefer to keep their personal lives private, music journalist Zan Rowe has uncovered something of a superpower in this enduring interview format. Her charmingly honest and warm approach disarms even the most guarded of stars, showing a different side to the artists who soundtrack our own lives. In Tuesday’s season four premiere, Rowe is joined by Melanie C (pictured, left, with Rowe), best known as Sporty Spice, who opens up about the incredible experiences she’s shared with George Michael, Madonna and even the Beatles. But it’s the star’s tender recollections of childhood and her early career that you won’t find elsewhere.

HYPERTENSION IN CATS
By OVENS AND KIEWA VETERINARY HOSPITAL
High blood pressure in cats is a silent but serious health threat.
High blood pressure, or hypertension, is becoming a common but often overlooked condition in cats, especially older ones. Without early detection, it can cause permanent damage to the eyes, kidneys, brain, and heart.
Most common causes:
• Chronic kidney disease (CKD): The leading cause of feline hypertension.
• Hyperthyroidism: An overactive thyroid raises heart rate and blood pressure.
• Diabetes and hormonal disorders: Less common, but still linked.
• Idiopathic hypertension: Sometimes the cause is unknown.
Warning signs:
Look out for sudden blindness, confusion,
seizures, yowling and/or excessive vocalisation, or behavior changes.
Many cats show no symptoms until major organs are affected.
Diagnosis and treatment:
Blood pressure is measured using a special cuff and machine adapted to feline anatomy. Treatment may include medication and managing underlying conditions.
Veterinarian tip:
Ideally, cats over seven years old should have their blood pressure checked annually. This should be checked through doppler blood pressure monitoring which can now be done with the nurses at Ovens and Kiewa Vet.
High blood pressure in cats is serious but manageable - if caught early.
If you suspect your cat may be suffering from hypertension, Ovens and Kiewa Vet are here to assist you.

A special day out
By MICHELLE AZARIS TIMELESS SUPPORT
At Timeless Support, we are always looking for ways to make the most of our clients’ Home Care Package funding while creating opportunities for connection and joy.
Recently, we had the pleasure of arranging a special outing for three of our clients, who came together to meet with their occupational therapist at Country Care.
The purpose of the visit was to select lift chairs and other assistive technology to support each lady’s comfort, mobility, and independence at home.
By coordinating the appointments together, we were able to streamline the process, making it more efficient and ensuring that each client received the guidance they needed to choose the right items.
What made the day even more meaningful was the company.
Instead of attending appointments alone,
the three ladies enjoyed the experience together, sharing stories, comparing choices, and encouraging one another. It turned what could have been a routine task into a truly uplifting outing.
Afterwards, we were delighted to welcome the group back to our office for lunch.
The room was filled with conversation and laughter as the ladies shared a meal, proving once again that care is about so much more than services, it’s about connection, community, and a sense of belonging.
Events like these highlight the heart of what we do at Timeless Support.
By working closely with health professionals and focusing on the individual needs of our clients we not only maximise their funding, but also create moments of joy and companionship along the way.
We feel privileged to share these experiences with our clients and look forward to many more special days together.
Timeless Support has been approved to provide subsidised home care services through the Australian Government. Depending on your circumstances you may be able to receive care and services, funded either fully or partly by the Government.

Fishing TROUT SEASON OPENS SATURDAY
By ROBBIE ALEXANDER WANGARATTA
Just like that winter is over, the wattle is out and there’s a little warmth creeping into the days.
Spring is here and the Victorian trout season opens this weekend.
Like many keen anglers I am hoping to find myself wading up a trout stream this Saturday morning.
Which stream that is I do not know but I do have a few ideas.
Last trout season was one of the worst that I can remember - it was just horrible. Without any reports as yet to go on, I will give a forecast of what I expect this season to look like.
Based on my observation of small trout in the streams towards the end of last season, and a few decent rain events during winter I am expecting an OK trout season this year. Not amazing, perhaps not even great, but OK and certainly better than last year.
That is only my prediction, hopefully
over the next few weeks I will have more to report on and a better idea of how the season is shaping up.
Moving away from trout and over the last few weeks it has been a bit of a carp fest for me!
I have been catching quite a lot of carp in many waterways.
I have caught carp in Broken Creek at Katamatite, Ovens River, Reedy Creek at Wangaratta and at Lake Eildon.
I have also been catching a few small redfin at Lake Eildon on worms, with sunset being the best time.
I have been fishing in the Brankeet arm of the lake, near Bonnie Doon.
Just a reminder that the Murray cod and Murray crayfish seasons both closed at midnight on 31 August.
Cod season re-opens on 1 December, and crayfishing season re-opens on 1 June, 2026.
Hopefully as the water starts to warm up over the next few weeks it won’t be long before a few yellowbelly start to bite in Lake Nillahcootie, Lake Hume and Lake Eildon.
