IT has been said that good deeds create endless ripples of kindness. This is certainly the case in the ongoing work of Gei Lin Thang and his fellow Bright and district community members, in their ongoing efforts to help improve the lives of people in Gei Lin’s former home village near Mindat in Chin State, Myanmar. The village has a population of approximately 150 people, half of which are children. Gei Lin and his family have lived in Bright for almost 10 years and they’ve been extremely touched by the kindness and generosity shown to them. The hard working gardener has sought to make the most of his ‘lucky country’ life here by fundraising to help other family members in his home village to improve their life in Myanmar. Recent crowdfunding to help install a pipeline at the village exceeded expectations and raised over $24,000 towards the project. Gei Lin explained the pipeline will help supply a reliable source of water for irrigation and personal use, freeing up time for villages to farm and work for themselves instead of travelling to get water.
