FROM volunteering as a door person to becoming president for five years, Terri Dillow has come a long way. The current president of the Wangaratta Festival of Dance committee has always been a performer, but not in dance. “I have always loved performing from a young age, but not in dance, in music,” she said. “I competed in the Wangaratta Eisteddfod for 10 years and then had students enter for many years as well. “The love of dance started when
my daughter, Courtney, started in 2000 as a 3 year old and I have always loved watching dance. “My daughter started competing at the WFOD in 2004, and only stopped last year in 2017, which makes her one of the longest running competitors to date.” For Terri, her love of dance comes from watching the children have a great time. “I love the looks on their faces when they get into their costume and the excitement they share, but most of all is watching them shine on stage, doing what they love.”
Terri’s involvement in the Wangaratta Festival of Dance began in 2001, when she asked to volunteer as a door person. Her involvement in with the Wangaratta Eisteddfod Committee for 10 years gave her the knowledge about how committees work. “I was asked to join the committee around 2004 and since then have progressed from being a general committee member, to secretary and then President, which I have been for 5 years,” she said.
