by the very large amount of water runoff. “One house had to be evacuated near the Lake Sambell,” he said. “Lake Sambell Caravan Park flooded when Silver Creek broke its banks and flowed straight through the park where it had to be evacuated and closed. “With flooding all over
the shire many roads were cut off with trees down. Mr Dean said people needed to remanin wary around trees, many of which had seen their roots eroded along banks, and also reminded motorists not to drive through flood waters. He said huge community cooperation took place with people helping wher-
ever they could. “I’d particularly like to thank the CFA, who filled around 2000 sandbags at the Beechworth SES premises, and provided amazing help,” he said. “We could not have done it without them.” Mr Dean there had been a lot of interaction with SES teams around the shire. ■ Continued page 3
