exciting new additions. Mr Didolis said with times and some activities for the main event being held on Saturday, April 16 still to be finalised, the parade should take off around 3pm from Church Street, then travel along Ford Street as in preCOVID years. The parade will be led by a rider in the saddle of a horse shod earlier in the day with gold-plated horseshoes that

commemorates the legend of Daniel Cameron on which the festival is based. In 1855 Mr Cameron led a political rally held in Beechworth for better goldminers’ conditions and brings the legend to life. An Indigenous Welcome to Country with a smoking ceremony will take place for the festival’s opening on Saturday around 11am while Hung Hing Chinese Lion

Dance Association performers will add to the colourful parade planned to start around 3pm. Mr Didolis said among other attractions will be all-time favourites such as an amusement park set up to entertain the kids in the Police Paddocks, musicians playing on stage in front of the Empire Hotel and North East Muzzleloaders. ■ Continued page 2
