Rutherglen’s g Tastes of Art exhibition attracts local,, national artists to region g THE SIXTH annual Rutherglen Tastes of Art Prize exhibition kicks off with tonight’s gala opening for the official launch of the nineday exhibition from March 11 to 19 as well as exciting prize announcements. Known for attracting a depth of artistic talent, Arts Rutherglen treasurer Irena

Webster said the event had attracted 457 artwork entries from more than 200 artists from around the nation and locally. Visual Arts judge for ex-
hibition entries, Wangaratta Art Gallery arts educator and exhibition officer Inga Hanover, said she will be considering artistic concepts such as use of art elements, authenticity and technical qualities of the work. “I will also be looking at what and how, the artwork communicates,” she said.
Arts Rutherglen president Helen Mackinlay said the exhibition is one of the most loved events in Rutherglen and is supported by most of the town. “It’s the love of art where we can do this in a small town, and we love our culture,” she said. Artists are in the running
to share a total prize pool of more than $14,000 across five exhibition categories painting/mixed media, photography with landscape as well as an open section which is more creative and will include digital photography, work on paper and 3D small artworks. ■ Continued page 2
