The new Subaru Global Platform has given more interior width and height to the XV, with added attention to detail from switches and interactive displays, and use of quality materials and superior ² QLVK Displays vary from model to model, with a 6.3-inch colour multi-function display across the range at the top of the central dashboard presenting useful and entertainment information such as audio,

The lower part of the screen provides visuals of Subaru’s advanced safety functions, including EyeSight on 2.0i-Premium, auto lights and vision assist.

An audio screen shows the audio selection playing, with the wide screen enabling a large amount of text to be displayed, while tracks or radio channels can be chosen by using the steering wheel switch, at the same time viewing the multi-function display screen directly in front of the driver.

new Commodore

By EWAN KENNEDY HOLDENâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S all-new Commodore will JR RQ SXEOLF GLVSOD\ IRU WKH ² UVW WLPH DW Motorclassica, Australiaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s premier classic and collector car exhibition.

The eagerly awaited German-built Holden is crammed with the latest in technology and is driven by either a V6 to all four wheels, or a high-tech turbopetrol four-cylinder connected to the front wheels.

It will be greeted at Motorclassica by all eight generations of Australian-made Commodores. Motorclassica 2017 will also be marking 100 years since the ² UVW +ROGHQ ERGLHG FDU ZDV PDGH LQ Australia, almost three decades before General Motors started making Holden branded cars Downunder.

The bitter-sweet celebration coincides with the closure of Holdenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s local manufacturing facility.

7KH YHU\ ² UVW $XVWUDOLDQ EXLOW +ROGHQ 48/215 prototype from 1948 will be there, along with concept Holdens the EFIJY and Hurricane.

Motorclassica will be held in the stunning Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne from Friday, October 13 to Sunday, October 15.

Motorclassica 2017 is more than just an exhibition. It also hosts the Australian International Concours dâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;Elegance, and the daily Club Sandwich car club displays.

The Saturday evening Classic Car Auction, conducted this year by Mossgreen, may well set new record prices.

The annual Tour Classica will see Motorclassica cars driven in a convoy from Alexandra Gardens on the banks of

Power comes from a new 2-litre four-cylinder direct injection naturally aspirated Boxer engine producing 115 kW of power at 6000 rpm and 196 Nm of torque at 4000 revs and is mated with a new lightweight Lineartronic continuously variable transmission with a wider gear range than previously.

EyeSight, in conjunction with adaptive cruise control acts as a second pair of eyes for the driver, keeping a look-out for any vehicle ahead and adapting the speed to match the distance.

As with all Subarus, the XV has earned WKH WRS ² YH VWDU VDIHW\ UDWLQJ IURP the Australasian New Car Assessment Program, while top-strength structural design will ensure the car is capable of the highest ratings until at least 2025.

But to be honest it is sometimes let down by an ageing engine which may get the job done but can grumble like an old man disturbed from his afternoon nap while doing it.

The X-Trail is refreshingly light on the fuel consumption despite its size, with RXU ZHHN XVLQJ / NP ZKLFK LV FORVH HQRXJK WR WKH RI² FLDO / NP to keep me interested.

It is easy to see why the Nissan X-Trail LV VXFK D ² UP IDYRXULWH ZLWK IDPLOLHV WKH combination of space, safety, practicality and features making it a tough offer to pass up. While this update is hardly pushing the boundaries, it adds substance where it counts and helps the X-Trail hold its own in a class that is bursting at the VHDPV ZLWK RYHU DFKLHYHUV
