Spring is in the air at Mt Buller snowfields
SPRING is just around the corner but Mt Buller is gearing up for an all-white September. The mountain is currently covered in just under a metre of snow and is gearing up for what is set to be a snowy spring. September will see a huge range of events on the calendar, with the ABOM Mogul Challenge and Subaru Australian Interschool Championships, the dazzling ‘80s Day, as well as the Corona Extra Pond Skim National Championships all happening throughout the month. Two great events will hit the mountain on Saturday, September 5 – the ABOM Mogul Challenge and the ever so colourful ‘80s Day. The annual ABOM Mogul Challenge will see world-class
Attentive Staff
freestylers and mogul enthusiasts tackle the bumps on the Mt Buller summit in a bid to win fantastic prizes. Mt Buller will also revisit the neon-coloured glory days of the 1980s, when the annual ‘80s Day celebrations hit the mountain. Retro jackets and parachute pants, fluoro one-pieces, headbands and sunglasses, mullets and big hair will be on parade as staff and guests gear up and take on one of the best eras of our time. Celebrations will be held across the mountain, with a DJ at Koflers spinning 80s tunes throughout the day, a world record attempt for the most amount of one-piece ski suits in one place, and the annual 80s
Convenient Location
Après Party where there’ll be a DJ, prizes for the best dressed and more. From September 9 to 13, hundreds of school students from across the country will gather at Mt Buller, when the resort hosts the 2015 Australian Interschool Snowsports Championships, which sees students compete in a range of disciplines for national titles. The Corona Extra Pond Skim National Championships will return to Mt Buller for the second time on Saturday, September 19. Spectators will enjoy seeing participants dressed in crazy costumes skim across a temporary dam on Bourke Street, taking on silly stunts to get from one side of the dam to the other.
Competitive Rates
Celebrations will continue with après drinks and a barbecue at the Corona Beer Garden on Bourke Street, with an after party kicking on into the evening at Moosehead. Director of marketing, sales and business development for Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management, Amber Gardner, said spring is a fantastic time to enjoy a snowy break. “Spring is all about fun in the sun at Mt Buller, with great deals, plenty of snow, sunny days and exciting events taking place including ‘80s Day, the ABOM Mogul Challenge, as well as the Pond Skim National Championships,” Amber said. “We’ve had such a fantastic season here at Mt Buller and it’s not over yet – this fresh snow
