Looking after people WHILE technology and demographics in real estate have altered considerably since Garry Nash first got involved in the industry some 41 years ago, there is one thing that has not changed – the importance of customer service. “It’s all about trust, and it’s all about looking after the people,” Mr Nash said. He got his beginnings in the real estate industry working with the late Arthur and John Meyland. During the years to come, he and wife Marion both worked on achieving their full real estate licences by correspondence, a slow process in those days.
Eventually, he struck out on his own, establishing Garry Nash Real Estate Pty Ltd. In the early 1980s he was among the founding members of the First National group of real estate agents, and the business operated under that group for a number of years, until very recently. With the recent return to operating as an independent real estate agent, Mr Nash said he has really come full circle in his career and is very excited about the future of the business. Mr Nash said that he has been passionate about working in real estate since the very beginning. “I have loved the opportunity
to help people in Wangaratta through many phases of their lifetime,” he said. He has served generations of clients, and has been gratified to see children of older clients come to the business to get settled in their first home or rental. Mr Nash is also heartened to play his own role in the continuing residential and commercial development of Wangaratta and district. When not at work, he enjoys time with family, including visiting his and Marion’s adult children – Justin, Laura and Caitlin, who were all educated in Wangaratta – and their families whenever possible.
Community is at the forefront of Mr Nash’s mind. A happy long term resident of Wangaratta, he was instrumental in promoting the lifestyle of the area during the Regional Living Expo in the past few years. He has been a passionate supporter within the CFA for a number of years, including performing advocacy and operational roles within the organisation, being captain of the South Wangaratta Fire Brigade for 15 years, and working as the deputy group officer of the Wangaratta Fire Brigade Group.
