Set against the lush surrounds of Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, Mandy and Michael’s black-tie celebration was the perfect balance of timeless elegance and heartfelt emotion. With 129 guests gathered between the grand interiors of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Gardens House, every detail reflected the couple’s refined vision — white roses, soft candlelight, intricate lace accents and a dance floor that never emptied.

The pair ﬁrst crossed paths on Boxing Day in 2020 when Mandy arrived at a pre-party drink at Michael’s home. “Instantly I knew he was the one for me,” shares Mandy. “It was very much a ‘when you know, you know’ moment.” From that evening onwards the two were inseparable.

Years later Michael proposed at Elephant Rock in Currumbin in Queensland after a day spent driving a hired Ferrari around the Gold Coast. As the sun dipped behind the ocean he secretly set up his phone to capture the moment. “What I thought would be a gorgeous self-timer photo happened to be our proposal caught on video,” recalls Mandy. “I’m so grateful to have that moment recorded forever.”

Planning the wedding came naturally to the bride who had spent years curating inspiration boards ﬁlled with romantic European styling and classic bridal fashion. After discovering Gardens House on socials, the couple secured the venue immediately with the remainder of the process unfolding seamlessly thanks to the support of their families.

Mandy wore a breathtaking off-the-shoulder lace gown from Raffaele Ciuca Bridal, complete with detachable sleeves and a matching laceedged veil. Michael opted for a bespoke tuxedo by P. Johnson Mens, tailored to perfection for the occasion.

The reception styling embraced a monochromatic palette layered with texture and warmth. Long tables dressed with lace runners, ﬂickering candles and blooms by Ascha Jolie created a romantic atmosphere while a statement cake by Get Caked by Lisa completed the scene beautifully.

One of the couple’s favourite moments came during their reception entrance. “Seeing all of our guests on their feet, waving their napkins, cheering and dancing is a memory etched into my mind forever,” says Mandy. “Also, being introduced for the ﬁrst time as Mr and Mrs is so special.”

Five years ago, at a mutual friend’s birthday party, an instant connection sparked between Simon and Sara. “It was one of those moments where you meet someone and instantly click,” she recalls. The chemistry was undeniable and after meeting on a Saturday, they were sharing dinner on their ﬁrst date by Tuesday. The very next day the world went into lockdown. What could have been an obstacle instead became the foundation of something extraordinary. With life slowed down, the pair spent their days walking, grabbing coffee and simply enjoying each other’s company.

“Those simple moments allowed us to build a strong foundation for our relationship,” says Sara. Looking back, she believes the timing happened exactly as it was meant to.

When the proposal came, it was every bit as meaningful. During a long weekend escape to Lorne, the couple spent the day relaxing by the beach before heading out for dinner. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Simon dropped to one knee on the sand and asked Sara to marry him. “It was a moment I will never forget,” she says. “While I knew that one day the question would come, I certainly wasn’t expecting it that weekend, which made it the most beautiful surprise.”

The couple celebrated their engagement with a special dinner before spending the remainder of the weekend wrapped up in their own little world. The seaside town has remained close to their hearts ever since, even becoming the destination they returned to after their wedding to reﬂect on the celebrations.

For their wedding day - attended by 210 guests - the couple envisioned a romantic and sophisticated celebration inspired by the timeless beauty of Lake Como in Italy. Working alongside stylist Valentina of Events by Valentina Seretis, they transformed Albert Park Lake into a European-inspired dream. “We really did transform Albert Park Lake to Lake Como,” recalls Sara. Every detail reﬂected elegance, romance and a deep sense of personal style.

The bride wore two unforgettable looks, beginning with a sophisticated satin gown featuring a corseted bodice and ﬂowing drop-waist silhouette before changing into a playful lace mini dress for the reception. Together, the couple added a subtle touch of fun by both wearing Christian Louboutin red soles.

Of all the moments from the day, one stands above the rest - a surprise ﬁrst dance song chosen by Simon. “It felt like the entire world disappeared,” says Sara. “Even though we were surrounded by all of our loved ones, it was as if it was just the two of us in that moment.”

Their advice for newly engaged couples? “Truly soak up every moment. Be in it, rather than moving through it.”

Emili and Aaron met as teenagers through mutual friends at a house party in early 2010, a chance encounter that neither of them could have known would shape the rest of their lives. Now, married at 31 and 33, they often look back in disbelief at how early their story began. “It feels surreal to have met your soulmate so young, without truly realising it at the time,” they reﬂect. From high school through to adulthood, their lives naturally intertwined — sharing milestones, building careers, purchasing their ﬁrst home in 2018 and creating a sense of commitment long before an engagement was ever on the horizon.

In August 2024, what began as an ordinary Wednesday night became a moment they would never forget. They were at Emili’s parents’ home while they were away, enjoying a familiar evening in the spa — a ritual that had carried through the years since Emili still lived at home. Unbeknownst to her, Aaron had been carrying the ring for almost nine months, waiting patiently for a moment that felt natural and true to their story. The setting, rich with nostalgia and shared memories in the house and garden, became the perfect backdrop.

In a moment that could not have been scripted, their dog Luna unexpectedly stole the ring box, unknowingly setting everything in motion. “It ultimately became the cue for Aaron to propose,” they say, laughing at the memory. What followed was a proposal that felt both heartfelt and deeply personal — unplanned in appearance yet thoughtfully timed.

When it came to planning their wedding, their vision was clear from the beginning. Low-fuss, intimate and authentic. “We always knew an elopement-style wedding suited us best,” they explain. Having already built a life together, marriage felt less like a beginning and more like a meaningful celebration of what already existed. They were married at the Old Treasury Building followed by drinks at Lane’s Edge Wine Bar and dinner and dancing at Recoleta with just 24 guests in attendance.

The styling reﬂected a timeless, understated Melbourne elegance. Calla lilies were central to the design, carried by Emili and echoed in Aaron’s boutonniere, while white lisianthus and hanging green amaranthus created a soft, romantic atmosphere. Personalised black ribbon place cards added an intimate ﬁnishing touch.

Emili wore an ivory lace bustier paired with a silk ﬂoor-length skirt, balancing modern simplicity with classic detail. A delicate neck scarf replaced a traditional veil, offering a contemporary bridal touch, while Aaron wore a classic black tuxedo.

“One of the most memorable moments was dancing together at the end of the night,” they share. Surrounded by their closest loved ones, it was a reminder of why they chose a smaller celebration - to be fully present. Their advice is simple — “Get married in a way that genuinely reﬂects you.”

Georgia and Sam’s love story began on a warm November evening in 2020, just as Melbourne cautiously emerged from one of its pandemic lockdowns. A mutual friend had organised a group outing to a friend’s ﬁrst post-lockdown gig at the Wesley Anne in Northcote and although Sam brieﬂy considered skipping the event he ultimately decided to go. It proved to be a life-changing choice.

With restrictions still in place, guests were seated at spaced tables. Georgia arrived fashionably late and took the ﬁnal seat beside Sam. They spent the evening talking, though Sam was oblivious to her ﬂirting.

“Sam was blissfully unaware that I was ﬂirting with him despite the not-sosubtle arm touches and suggestions to buy her a drink,” laughs Georgia.At the end of the night she surprisingly offered her number and within a week they were sharing drinks again – despite Sam’s disclaimer that he “wasn’t looking for anything serious right now”.

Three years later the couple returned to a place filled with memories. During their first getaway together they had driven the Great Ocean Road and stopped at Marriner’s Lookout near Apollo Bay, a moment that stayed with them both. In October 2024 Sam suggested revisiting the lookout while road-tripping along the coast. Georgia even wore the same outfit from their first visit, expecting to recreate a few photos. Instead, Sam

surprised her with a proposal – and an even bigger surprise when four close friends appeared shortly afterwards to celebrate.

When it came to planning their wedding the couple approached the process with calm intention. They started early, working through details slowly and thoughtfully, guided by a shared philosophy.

Rupert on Rupert in Melbourne quickly emerged as the dream venue, shaping the intimate scale of the celebration with a guest list of 85 loved ones. The space was ﬁlled with colour, personality and playful energy, reﬂecting the couple’s desire for a day that felt joyful rather than overly traditional.

Georgia’s bridal look captured the couple’s whimsical vintage style with a 1960s-inspired mini dress by d’Italia Couture paired with a voluminous Grace Loves Lace veil and bright blue Loefﬂer Randall heels that popped in photos. Later she changed into custom Converse high-tops, bringing a playful, carefree energy to the danceﬂoor.

Sam complemented Georgia’s playful look with a classic tuxedo from Arthur Galan AG, accented by a slightly oversized bow tie and his requested suspenders – a charming touch that had friends playfully snapping them throughout the reception.

For Georgia, the most unforgettable moment came walking down the aisle. “Seeing all of our loved ones’ faces beaming while I walked down towards the love of my life was an incredible experience,” she recalls.

For Sam it was the quiet, surreal pause in the car en route to the venue and then the moment he saw Georgia appear: “It was very surreal seeing everyone turn to stare at my gorgeous partner and very likely thinking the exact same thing that I was in that moment – ‘wow’.”

The couple encourage newly engaged pairs to focus less on perfection and more on the feeling they want to create. By centring their planning around how they and their guests would experience the day – rather than simply how it might look – they were able to keep the process joyful and meaningful.

Strike #2: He told me to fake tan. Strike #3: When I arrived, the courtyard was empty,” laughs Meagan. Luke opted for a traditional black tuxedo, complementing the understated elegance of his bride.

The day itself was ﬁlled with unforgettable moments. “Walking down the aisle accompanied by my Dad, surrounded by all our nearest and dearest was truly so special,” recalls Meagan. Luke agrees, describing Meagan walking down the aisle as a “pinch-me moment”.

Their reception reﬂected their personalities – cocktail-style mingling, early speeches and a surprise heavy metal entrance soundtrack, culminating in a margarita tower and roaming cannolis instead of a traditional cake.

Erin and Maryanne ‘Mac’ met in 2019 while playing footy for Sydney University Australian National Football Club. Footy weekends in Sydney’s inner west naturally blended sport and pub sessions where the couple really hit it off. A late-night house party dance ﬂoor moment became the turning point where friendship quietly shifted into something neither of them could ignore.

In June 2024, Erin proposed in Edinburgh at the Ross Fountain beneath Edinburgh Castle, chosen in honour of Mac’s late father who was born in Scotland. Erin had smuggled the ring in her luggage inside a pair of socks, thinking she was being subtle. What she didn’t know was that Mac had also packed a ring, planning to propose in the same spot moments earlier. The surprise unfolded into an emotional twist, later mirrored by Mac’s own proposal in Amsterdam’s Vondelpark during a picnic after a bike ride through the city.

In wedding planning, the approach was relaxed from the start. “If you asked our friends and family, they’d probably say… ‘what planning process?’” they laugh. They focused on a city-based celebration at Melbourne’s Butler Lane, chosen for its industrial warmth, indoor-outdoor ﬂow and dog-friendly policy so Wolﬁe and Herbie could be present. The venue’s wet-weather plan and all-in-one layout meant guests could settle in and enjoy the day.

Styling stayed simple and heartfelt, guided by feeling rather than strict planning. Florals by Babylon Flowers softened the space while DIY stationery added a personal touch, including a hand-painted welcome sign created with friends and family. A disco ball nodded to nights spent together at the Imperial Hotel in Erskineville, Sydney.

Erin wore KYHA Studios’ Cameron gown while Mac chose a Twilight skirt and Vermont corset set, leaning into modern silhouettes that felt true to them. One of the most meaningful moments was their ﬁrst look which meant they could stay together from morning onwards and soak everything in side by side. During cocktail hour, a surprise performance of Can’t Help Falling in Love brought generations onto the dance ﬂoor, a moment they will always carry with them.

Tahnee Jade and Tyler Brown were behind the lens, capturing the day with an effortless, calming presence that let moments unfold naturally. Their familiarity with queer weddings and Melbourne city settings brought ease from the start.

At heart they reﬂected, “It’s genuinely so fun and special having all your favourite people in one place – and that’s what it’s really all about. Try to keep coming back to that and not get too caught up in all the little details or endless to-do lists.”

After nearly two decades together, Molly and Lucas’s wedding celebration was a beautiful reﬂection of their relationship – authentic, intimate and entirely on their own terms.

The pair ﬁrst met at a mutual friend's 16th birthday party and, as the bride reﬂects, it feels like "a very long time ago now!" Having been together for almost 18 years, they have truly grown up side by side, sharing life's milestones and building a strong foundation long before marriage entered the picture.

When it came time to propose, Lucas planned a moment that perfectly captured their relationship. On Molly's 29th birthday in 2021, the couple spent the day enjoying a picnic before returning home to the ﬁrst apartment they had shared together. There, Lucas surprised her with a private proposal. "It was private, really chill and perfectly suited to us," she recalls.

From the beginning they knew they wanted their wedding day to feel relaxed and meaningful rather than traditional or extravagant. Staying true to their vision, they exchanged vows at the marriage registry surrounded by just 19 of their closest family members. Following the ceremony, everyone gathered for a celebratory lunch before the newlyweds hosted a small party the following week with extended family and close friends.

Their style inspiration was centred around simplicity and authenticity. "We wanted the day to feel like us and full of love," explains Molly. Every detail reﬂected a timeless and effortless aesthetic, creating an atmosphere that felt genuine, comfortable and focused on what mattered most – the people they cherish.

The bride wore a simple strapless gown with a relaxed silhouette, paired with a delicate veil and pointed white heels. Her bouquet provided a striking ﬁnishing touch and held special sentimental value, perfectly complementing her mother's outﬁt. Meanwhile, Lucas looked sharp in a black double-breasted tuxedo and bow tie, blending classic tailoring with a contemporary feel.

Looking back, the couple's favourite memories weren't about grand gestures but the joy of sharing the day with loved ones. "Seeing our families so happy and being able to relax with them all day, without any pressure or expectations, made it incredibly special," adds Molly. "It felt meaningful, genuine and exactly right for us."

Maddy and Ned’s love story began with a swipe and a promise of pizza in Melbourne in 2017. Visiting from Europe, Dutch-born Maddy was living in Berlin when she matched with Ned on a dating app.

By Friday night, just two days before she was due to ﬂy home, they met at a Collingwood bar for espresso martinis and slices of pizza.

The following morning turned into a full day together and by Sunday Ned was dropping Maddy at the airport after a whirlwind weekend. What followed was months of daily conversations and long-distance devotion. Five months later Ned travelled to Europe to meet Maddy’s family and friends. Another ﬁve months after that she packed her life into suitcases and moved to Melbourne.

Years later another adventure set the stage for Ned’s proposal. When his brother announced a wedding in Colombia, the couple planned a trip that would continue on to New York. Unknown to Maddy, Ned quietly designed an engagement ring and carried it through weeks of travel and airport security checks. On a morning in August 2023, after calling Maddy’s parents to ask their blessing, he suggested a picnic in Central Park. Among blankets and picnic treats, Ned knelt and asked the question that would change everything.

Their wedding planning began with a clear priority – time for loved ones travelling from overseas. The couple set their date 18 months ahead and quickly fell for a grand Melbourne venue, The Trust, whose architecture reminded them of classic New York glamour.

Guided by simple advice from a friend, they focused on three things that mattered most – accessibility, great drinks and preserving every moment.

With 90 guests gathered, the celebration balanced timeless style with vibrant detail.

Ned wore a traditional black tuxedo featuring a silk shawl lapel paired with a black silk bow tie and polished patent-leather shoes.

Maddy chose a gown from Rival Bridal featuring a sweetheart neckline, dipped waist and ﬁtted bodice with soft ruching through the torso. A lace-trimmed veil added a romantic ﬁnish while her accessories carried a personal touch.

The bridesmaids wore an array of pastel gowns in different silhouettes and shades inspired by vintage Ralph Lauren runways.

Some of the couple’s most meaningful memories were the rare moments of stillness throughout the day. With friends and family gathered from around the world, seeing everyone together was especially moving.
