Have a fitting with your hair trial and makeup. It is really the only time you will see the whole look come together before your day. Looking to wear a veil? This is the time to bring your whole dream look together.

At every fitting we highly recommend bringing your chosen shoes and undergarments when trying on your gown or bridesmaid dress. Not wearing a bra? Tape up your breast so that your gown can be sculptured to you.

Consider your hemline or a train bustle so you can party the night way. We love a French bustle. Or look at the reception dress option so you can really let your hair down.

Bridal wear with a modern twist – Courtney Mason has developed a unique range of separates that can mix and match to suit your personal style.

Courtney Mason has created a classic and unique range of bridal separates with a modern twist that allow brides to choose pieces to create a gown that reflects their own personal style. Currently there are more than 50 combinations available – creating endless options for any bride.

After finding herself unemployed due to Covid-19 lockdowns and the film/TV industry shut down, Courtney collaborated with Kristy Wynack, the owner of local Embrace Bridal Boutique. Having worked with Kristy performing wedding dress alterations over the past few years, the pair began work on developing designs to fill a niche market gap. And so Maisey Bridal Couture was born. Made locally in Geelong, Maisey Bridal Couture has a much shorter make time. If fabrics and materials are in stock your outfit can be made within 6-8 weeks.

During the designing and planning process Courtney sourced all fabrics and materials within Victoria. Given our insecure times she wanted to ensure she isn’t relying on materials coming from overseas and that everything is readily available.

Do plenty of research. Come with plenty of photos and ideas as it helps get across the visual goal you’re trying to achieve.

Pick something that complements your bodyshape. Ensure to try on a range of gowns so that you know what works on your body and what doesn’t. If you have a certain dress style in mind, make sure to try on something close to it so you know if you like it or not.

Communication is key. Be honest in the fittings – you’re wearing the dress – so now isn't the time to be shy for the sake of being polite.

Samantha and Nick’s love story blossomed over custard tarts at Pandersal, a quaint bakery in Meeniyan, where fate brought them together in a chance encounter. Samantha, an animal health consultant and Nick, a farmer, crossed paths at the right moment. Their journey took a significant turn when Nick proposed in late March 2023, catching Samantha off guard with a heartfelt gesture at home. After six years of shared adventures, including living abroad and starting a farm, the proposal marked a natural progression in their relationship.

When it came to planning their wedding, Samantha took the lead, guided by her vision of an intimate and elegant celebration. Initially considering her family farm for the venue, logistical challenges led them to Woolbrook where they found kindred spirits in Anise and Lachie, aligning seamlessly with their dream day.

Despite the whirlwind of organising their wedding in just six months, Samantha and Nick’s decisiveness and easygoing nature, coupled with the dedication of their chosen vendors, made the process seamless. With 90 cherished guests in attendance, their day exuded sophistication and warmth, reflecting their personalities and style.

Nick donned a classic black tuxedo while Samantha radiated elegance in a warm gold Mikado satin wedding gown from Pearls and Roses Bridal. The stunning strapless gown featured an exquisite shawl collar of flounces and ruffles like nothing other – complemented by a cathedral-length train.

Amidst heartfelt speeches and the joy of having loved ones gathered, their wedding day became a cherished memory. For Samantha and Nick the presence of their nearest and dearest, including their beloved dog Fenton, was paramount, emphasising the importance of love and support in their lives.

As they reflect on their journey, Samantha and Nick offer sage advice to newly engaged couples – prioritise your desires, communicate openly and make your day truly yours.

You can DIY a lot for your wedding but you need a pretty amazing group of people to help you set up on the day (big shout out to our grooms party and friends for this!!)

Book your celebrant early, I didn't realise how quickly celebrants book out. Stick to your guns about what is important to you. If you don't need a wedding car – uber is a great idea and a very funny surprise for the driver!

Give yourself plenty of time to plan your wedding to lessen the stress and just let it be on the day – enjoy the amazing day you have planned and have fun together. You are NOT the hosts –you are the guests of honour.

Do it your way. There are thousands of ways you can plan a wedding and there will always be someone doing something more extravagant so just stay grounded to what you envision.

Visualise the day from start to finish and write down all the things you want to achieve and any potential issues. For example, we spent extra money to make sure the buses were reliable and no one was stranded. Also, if you don’t care about arriving in a vintage car, book a driver service (with a nice car) but don’t tell them it is for a wedding to save on the ‘wedding surcharge’. Also, don’t feel like you have to do things, just because other people did … its your day!

Be kind to yourselves. As everyone will tell you, weddings require a lot of time, effort and attention. Even small ones. As you are trying to coordinate several people, trying to achieve your perfect day. In the vast and ever-expanding world of social media, love can blossom in the most unexpected places. For Courtney and Hamish the journey of their love story began on the vibrant platform of TikTok. Courtney, a young enthusiast with a penchant for sports cars often showcased her Subaru STI in captivating videos. Little did she know these clips would catch the eye of a certain someone — Hamish.

After some delightful banter and a connection that felt just right, the duo decided to take their online sparks into the real world. A rendezvous in the heart of west Sydney solidified their connection and the very next day they made it official. Because when you know, you just know!

Fast forward to the proposal. A momentous occasion that unfolded at Mt Duneed Estate, the very place where they would later exchange vows. For Courtney, this venue held sentimental value as the first wedding she photographed as a head photographer at the beginning of her career. The venue, a picturesque backdrop for weddings, held a special place in their hearts as they consider the team there as an extension of their own photography family.

Planning their wedding was a breeze for Courtney and Hamish, thanks to their industry knowledge and a plethora of cherished Geelong vendors. Drawing inspiration from Pinterest, Courtney envisioned a timeless and elegant celebration. The only hiccup? Choosing the perfect photographer and videographer. In the end, their dear friend Kyndel Rafols captured the magic, leaving them with breathtaking memories.

Their intimate affair attended by 35 close friends and family exuded timeless elegance. Courtney donned an ivory lace fit-and-flare wedding dress with off-the-shoulder detachable sleeves, later changing into a second gown featuring off-the-shoulder sleeves, a corset bodice and a high split with a train. Hamish complemented her beauty in a classic ensemble of a black blazer, white dress shirt and black dress pants.

The highlight of the ceremony? The exchanged glances that spoke volumes, silently affirming that this moment was everything they had ever imagined and more.

Cut refers to proportion, symmetry and polish – factors which affect how light reflects, disperses and flashes off a diamond surface. Jewellers cut diamonds into a variety of shapes with some traditional shapes fashioned hundreds of years ago and exude a timeless aesthetic and old-world. Others reflect elegant contemporary styles popularised within the last 20 years (for example, Asscher and princess shapes).

A classic round brilliant diamond is the most enduringly popular shape due to its exceptional radiance, brilliance and sparkle. Other highly favoured styles include alluring square and rectangular shapes. Superb crafting enables the beauty of a diamond to be enhanced – the jewellery artisans at Charles Rose expertly shape the finest of diamonds into exquisite styles that captivate and dazzle with their transcendent beauty and sparkle.

Shade refers to a diamond's colour, which can range from rare pure white to fancy coloured vivid shades like yellow, pink and green although most tend to yellow/brown. The lack of colour in a diamond determines its grading, with higher colour grades assigned to diamonds with less colour. This is because colourless diamonds exhibit greater sparkle than yellowish/brownish tinted diamonds.

Clarity refers to inclusions, which are small marks, fissures or foreign crystals in the diamond. Every diamond has billions of inclusions. However many inclusions are not visible to the naked eye, so the diamond is “eye clean. Flawless diamonds are “Loupe Clean”, meaning that inclusions are invisible even when using a 10x magnification lens.

Carat weight measures a diamond’s weight, not size. The weight of a diamond is expressed in “points” up to 99 points (for example, 25 points refers to a 0.25 weight), with 100 points equal

to 1 carat. Many people mistakenly believe that a larger carat weight is preferable to a smaller carat weight however carat weight does not affect sparkle. For example a well-cut .98 carat diamond may appear larger and more sparkly than a poorly cut 1-carat weight diamond with great colour and clarity.

In the world of gems, the specialist diamond house is all about crafting exquisite, fine jewellery.

Charles Rose’s Geelong store and engagement rings have one quality that distinguishes it from the rest – longevity.

The company has been in Geelong for more than a decade – and will be for longer, says Director Marcus Rose. “It will never go because fine jewellers last a very long time.”

Jewellery has been in Marcus’s family for four generations. His grandfather and great uncle, Charles Rose, started as jewellers and master watchmakers in France, near the German border in the 1920s.

They died during World War II, so his father Frederick, also a jeweller, migrated to Australia as a 26-year-old in 1948.

Marcus developed a passion for his father’s business selling

jewellery at Monash University in the early ‘70s. With Marcus’ son, Asher, taking a more prominent role in the business in recent years.

Now the specialist diamond house has a team of dedicated artisans producing work from the highest grade stones.

“Higher than any other brand in Australia, I would say,” Marcus adds.

“The better grades are much brighter and that’s the most important aspect of diamonds.”

Their proposal, a testament to Matt’s thoughtful planning, unfolded during a weekend getaway for Brooke’s 27th birthday at the picturesque setting of Jarosite lookout. As Brooke turned to admire the scenic vista, she was greeted by Matt on bended knee, ring in hand, leaving her in joyful shock. Little did she know their closest family and friends awaited them at Jack Rabbit Vineyard, transforming her birthday celebration into an unforgettable engagement party filled with love and excitement.

The wedding planning process unfolded seamlessly with the couple quickly deciding on Jack Rabbit Vineyard as their venue after the unforgettable surprise engagement there. Working closely with the venue’s team, the couple found the planning process relaxed and stress-free.

Their floral arrangements – predominantly white and green – beautifully complemented the venue’s natural charm thanks to the expertise of the Florica team. And for capturing every precious moment, Tommy Williams and Dean Atherton proved to be invaluable, delivering outstanding photography and videography that exceeded expectations.

Family played a significant role in the preparations with both Matt and Brooke’s mothers contributing their meticulous attention to detail, ensuring everything was picture-perfect for the big day.

The wedding itself was a testament to their love and the bonds they shared with their extensive network of family and friends with 170 guests joining them from near and far to celebrate.

Staying true to their relaxed personalities, the couple opted for a minimalist yet elegant style, letting the venue’s natural beauty shine through. Matt and his groomsmen donned light-coloured suits from M.J. Bale while Brooke stunned in a Grace Loves Lace off-the-shoulder gown, exuding both elegance and comfort. The bridesmaids added pops of colour with a myriad of pastel dresses.

Amidst the myriad of memorable moments, two stand out.

The overwhelming joy as Brooke walked down the aisle and the enchanting first dance to the tune of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You accompanied by singer Georga and saxophonist Harry.

“One of the first questions we get asked is: are they still real diamonds? The answer is yes, of course,” explains Ben Duff.

“Chemically, optically and physically, they are exactly the same as a natural diamond. The difference is, they are grown under very specific, controlled conditions in a laboratory, as opposed to being mined from the earth.”

The big benefit for brides-to-be is that they are not only more affordable than natural diamonds of the same size and clarity, they are also considered more sustainable.

“What it means for couples is that they have more freedom to choose the size and style of ring they really want, rather than what will fit into their budget,” says Ben.

When it comes to engagement ring styles, the round brilliant solitaire is always popular, but several other cuts are now having their “moment in the sun”.

“Ovals are continuing to be popular - and there are good reasons why. They give you a lot more diamond for your money, but still have plenty of sparkle. Ovals also elongate the finger, resulting in an elegant look.”

The emerald cut is also a popular choice for those wanting a ring that really stands out.

Gaining popularity during the 1920s art deco movement, an emerald cut is generally rectangular in shape and distinguished by its long elegant lines and stepped cut.

An emerald cut diamond produces less sparkle than some other cuts, but what it lacks in brilliance, it makes up for in clarity and sophistication.

While trends will come and go, good design stands the test of time. One of Duffs’ most popular designs is the timeless solitaire engagement ring containing a single gemstone sat effortlessly atop an unadorned yellow, white or rose gold band.

What we offer – here at Geelong Flower Farm we do things a little differently and offer DIY wedding florals. We can supply you with all the beautiful fresh flowers, foliage and florist sundries you need to create your own stunning arrangements. We offer many seasonal varieties along with natives and preserved.

To finish off your DIY bouquet, we stock silk ribbon and biodegradable confetti for that special touch. We offer a 30 minute consultation for you to meet with one of our lovely team members to discuss and guide you on varieties, colours, quantities, availabilities and more.

We will answer any questions you may have for your special day and order the flowers in for you, to make it a fun and stress free experience.

What we don’t offer – we don’t offer floristry services to create wedding flowers for your special day. This means we can’t create wedding bouquets, buttonholes, arbour’s, hanging installations, table arrangements, etc.

This will be up to you to design after you have collected your ordered flowers.

About consultation – once you have booked your consultation, please ensure you bring inspiration pictures of flowers, colours and style you are hoping to re-create. It is very important that you have an idea of colours and style before coming to your consultation. This will give us an idea of what your vision is for your wedding and our team can ensure you get the best information from your consultation. If you are unsure of colours and the style you want, we suggest coming in to our farm in your own time to have a walk around to see what stands out to you. Taking a few photos can be helpful to help your vision come to life. We want to make sure you get the best out of your appointment with us and to do so its best you have an idea of what you like.

A consultation is a minimum booking of 30 minutes and is non-refundable. This consultation fee is not deducted from any orders placed with us.

The building extends to a marquee-covered deck area adorned with hundreds of fairy lights and eclectic chandeliers. The deck adjoins a beautiful, cobbled courtyard shaded by a grand old Oak Tree in summer and warmed by an outdoor fireplace in cooler months. The whole area transforms perfectly for wedding receptions.

Honeymoon: Two months in Europe

Linda, a recent vet school graduate, found herself in the picturesque town of Bathurst, NSW, embarking on her first week on the job. Meanwhile, James, still in university, was completing his placement in the same region, staying with a mutual friend. A chance encounter during a dinner and drinks outing led to a drunken kiss, initially dismissed as a fleeting moment in their lives.

Over the next few months their paths crossed intermittently, sharing dinners and casual moments. Linda, seemingly nonchalant about any romantic prospects, made it clear that a romantic entanglement was off the table. After all, James was heading to Victoria for work and Linda had just begun her veterinary career in NSW.

When their paths crossed again in Sydney on a random Monday in July something shifted. An electric connection sparked, leading to a public kiss on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. From that moment, everything changed and a deep bond began to form.

As their relationship deepened, James decided to take the next big step – planning a surprise proposal. Linda, being a notorious micro-manager, unintentionally thwarted James’s attempts at secrecy.

A weekend getaway to the Yarra Valley, filled with wine and culinary delights, became a source of paranoia for Linda, convinced that a proposal was imminent.

James, determined to keep the surprise intact, orchestrated a series of diversion surprises to throw Linda off the scent. Despite setbacks he successfully

proposed in a private garden estate, stunning Linda and proving that he could indeed catch her off-guard. James took charge of most of the planning while Linda focused on her dress and the fun aesthetic of the bridal party. The barn at Rocklea Farm, chosen for its beauty and intimate setting, became the perfect backdrop for their timeless yet vibrant wedding.

They wanted their wedding guestbook to be more than just a formality. Inspired by their love of wine, they got wooden boxes with significant anniversary markings. Throughout the wedding planning year they collected wines from special wineries for each milestone. Engraved inside the lids were descriptions of why each wine was chosen. On the wedding night, guests wrote advice and added polaroids. Now on each significant anniversary they can relive memories with a glass of wine.

Linda, a cocktail enthusiast, set the vibe with a gin bar during cocktail hour. Later, the dancefloor featured espresso martinis and coconut margaritas. To cater to non-drinkers there were non-alcoholic gins, sparkling and wine alternatives, ensuring everyone had a special sip.

In offering advice to future couples, Linda emphasised the importance of inviting those who truly matter, spending money on meaningful aspects and cherishing every moment with loved ones. The couple’s journey, from a chance kiss to a surprise proposal and a joyous wedding celebration, exemplifies the beauty of unexpected love stories.

A beautiful refurbishment, period charm and a courtyard garden setting make Bootmakers Cottage in the heart of Birregurra the perfect location to celebrate your wedding or engagement party.

Beginning its life as a bootmakers and saddlery in 1864, Bootmakers Cottage has seen many uses over the years, including a butchery, surveyor’s office, teahouse, café and bar and music studio. The cottage and outbuildings have now been lovingly restored into a function venue and boutique guest house by owner Mal OsborneSmith, with no detail spared and respect paid to the venue’s past.

Bootmakers Cottage was recently awarded the Bronze Medal in the Stayz Holiday Home of the Year Award and has featured in magazines such as Country Style and Australian Country Homes

The heart of the venue is the beautiful outdoor redbrick courtyard sitting under an old shady oak tree, surrounded by old stables and the cottage. Birches, lavender, olives, a grape vine and fruit trees accent the oak and set the vision for what is now a delightful country garden. Perfect for a spring or summer garden wedding, the venue is available for hire as a blank canvas, with couples able to arrange their weddings in their own style.

Shinae and Adam’s love story is one that blossomed from chance encounters, shy smiles and a shared love for adventure.

Their journey began amidst the celebratory atmosphere of mutual friends’ 21st birthdays where fleeting glances and unspoken connections laid the groundwork for something special. A pivotal moment came when Adam chose the familiar ambiance of Mexicali Mama’s to ask Shinae to officially be his girlfriend, marking the start of a committed partnership filled with love and laughter. Their shared passion for travel, particularly their fondness for Vietnam, played a significant role in shaping their story. Despite setbacks and unexpected twists, including a thwarted proposal due to a typhoon, their resilience and unwavering devotion prevailed, culminating in a heartfelt “yes” under the starlit sky of Hoi An.

As they embarked on their wedding journey, initially uncertain about celebrating their love in a traditional manner, they soon found themselves drawn to the idea of sharing their joy with loved ones.

And, if they don’t have the appropriate celebrant quals, no problem, you just need a registered co-pilot, aka as a celebrant! I’ve done lots of these ceremonies with varying amounts of input and they’ve always worked seamlessly.

Talk to your celebrant about how they like to co-pilot and to give you an idea, I offer three co-pilot packages:

 Your friend/family member creating and delivering the whole ceremony with me just doing the legals only – this is perfect for someone who is experienced in presentations, has creative writing skills and may even be a celebrant-in-training.

 Your friend/family member may use my resources to gather the information they need to create the ceremony, they’d deliver it and I’d do the legals only – this is perfect for someone who has some creative writing skills but isn’t sure what should be included in a wedding ceremony.

 I can write the ceremony from go to woe and your friend/family member can tweak it into their own words/language so it flows and sounds natural and I’d do the legals – this is perfect for someone who doesn’t have the time to gather the information and create the ceremony.

In all the above cases, I suggest your friend/family member introduces themselves and welcomes everyone. They can then introduce me as the official person and I can do the legal components upfront so they’re out of the way and your ceremony can flow perfectly without any interruptions.
