Building Our Future - The Master Plan

Aram Namavar ‘09 - “I am currently in my final year of residency training in Internal Medicine at UC San Diego. In July 2022, I will be joining the team at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as an attending physician in Hospital Medicine. In this role, I provide acute medical care exclusively to hospitalized patients while coordinating care amongst an interdisciplinary team. PHS shaped my trajectory by cultivating my critical thinking skills early on and helping to equip me with the work ethic necessary to navigate this rigorous path in medicine. I am thankful to Dr. Harjani, Ms. Kuklish, and Mr. Bullock for their support of my time at PHS and to this day as they helped instill in me the intangible skills to become a physician.”

Josh Manlutac ‘11 - is a Supervising Epidemiologist for the LA County Dept. of Public Health. He shares, “Providence High School taught me the value of taking risks to face the fear of uncertainty. Regardless of the outcome, I learned that I would grow through the process and become a better version of myself - a more resilient, confident one. I believe PHS provides its students with the necessary skills and characteristics to become progressive, comprehensive leaders in their own respective fields, an invaluable experience that I have continually built upon for the past ten years.” Ashley Tropea ‘17 - is thriving post-Providence! She shares, “Since graduating from PHS in 2017, I have gone on to study Screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University where I really embraced my love of television writing and received my BA in 2021. My TV pilot script won the Best Undergrad Pilot Award at LMU while another script placed as a Finalist in the very competitive ScreenCraft Screenplay Contest. After graduating from college, my writing really took off earning me a spot on the prestigious Coverfly Red List and as a selection in the Atlanta Film Festival, among other awards. Currently, I am in talks with several major studios about producing my first film.”

In February 2022, we unveiled our newest alumni engagement tool, Graduway: Providence High Connect. Providence High Connect is an exclusive portal for alums to reunite with classmates, leverage their professional network, and stay involved with the PHS community!

On the site, members are invited to customize their profiles, create posts, join class groups, share photos, and more. Additionally, Providence High Connect provides alums with the opportunity to act as a mentor to younger alumni as they navigate college life and career exploration.

Whether you’re searching for networking opportunities or just looking to socialize with fellow Pioneers, we hope you will use this platform to your benefit. We look forward to seeing you all on Providence High Connect! Sheridan Vititoe is overjoyed to serve the Providence High School community as Alumni Coordinator! As a Providence alum, Class of ‘12, she understands the pride of being a PHS graduate and strives to bring that enthusiasm to this role. Following her high school tenure at Providence, Sheridan obtained her B.A. in Communications with a Nonprofit emphasis from CSU: Channel Islands located in Camarillo, CA. After her collegiate career, she joined the esteemed Hollywood Chamber of Commerce as Membership Services Coordinator.

While Walk of Fame star ceremonies and glitzy events were wonderful perks of the job, her fulfillment derived from the relationships forged with those she served. In 2019, Sheridan joined a start-up specializing in shared workplace solutions. She continued to hone her skills for membership, retention, and community relations. In 2021, she heeded the call to return to her PHS home. In 2021, she heeded the call to return to her PHS home. A decade later and Sheridan continues to find that Providence always provides.

This year’s Gala was themed, “Get Your Kicks on Route 66”, and we sure did! Providence’s annual Gala was held on Saturday, April 9th at Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake, California. Over 200 guests attended this year’s event, including the Sisters of Providence, faculty and new incoming parents for the 2022-2023 school year. This was the first “in person” Gala since 2019 so there was more laughing, hugging and all-around joyous celebration than previous years! So much so that there was only time to dance to 2 songs! To highlight our 66th year a signature drink was made, “The Pioneer Chrome Fender”. Drinks were paired with a lovely jazz ensemble including our spectacular Ms. Marisa Bradfield. She was accompanied by the talented Sasha Camacho ‘23 and Kylie Arteaga ‘23 who entertained us with over an hour of jazz favorites.

Providence’s own players performed an energetic scene from this year’s production of Beauty and The Beast. Thank you to Ms. Julianne Kusmierczyk for the never-ending dedication to our performing arts department and student corralling. Let’s never take it for granted how hard these teachers and students work all year!

Parents, alumni, and community businesses donated 60 baskets for our silent auction. Our live auction was a wild ride of 8 unique items and experiences - ranging from a handmade guitar and amp (courtesy of StewMac) to a trip to Mexico! The highlight of the silent auction was a premier parking spot in front of the school that went for $4,250 to our own beloved employee, Lisa Mallory! And she would like you to all know that it is useless to fight her for it. For our PHS COVID relief financial assistance, our paddle raise profited $41,400! This to date is the most we have ever raised in a single paddle raise effort at PHS!

Special thanks and appreciation to Dominic Mongelli ‘22 for sharing his compelling story with the guests. Dominic reminded us all that Providence is truly a place where everyone belongs. If you didn’t get a chance to participate or attend the Gala, you can still make a gift to support our PHS Covid relief fund at www.providencehigh.org/development/giving

A special Thank you to this year’s sponsors: Platinum sponsor - Providence Health System; Gold sponsors - Sisters of Providence and Worthe Real Estate; Silver sponsors - Angelique Campen and The Walt Disney Company. Table sponsors - GAIN Federal Credit Union, the Goetzman family (aluma ’76), the Reif-Kasper Family (alumna ’76), and Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. Individual sponsors included Dr. Christina Ashjian, Master Cooling, Mayfield Junior School, the Lustig and O’Connor Family and the Najarian Family. We literally could not have had this event happen without the generosity of our sponsors.

Special thanks to our parent volunteers, Cecelia Loschin, Candace Thornton, Christina Sanchez ‘95, who worked into the late hours to decorate our location, set up and decorate auction baskets and haul enormous amounts of supplies for a flawless GALA! The wonderful and talented Karen Shoemaker who designed our invitations, table numbers and marketing pamphlets. There should be a parade for you wonderful parents!

Although we will not be having another Gala until 2026, the Development Department will be busy putting together a new year full of events that will build our Providence High School and all departments that make us great! Here’s to an amazing and challenging 2021-22, cheers! BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR

In December 2022, we will be hosting a Golf Tournament! We are thrilled to announce that the Class of ‘62, ‘72, ‘82, ‘02, and ‘12 will be celebrating their milestone reunions in 2022! Later this Fall, our Med Focus and Mock Trial alumni will be reuniting, too!
