A Year of resilience, creativity and gratitude This has been a year of great change for everyone. At Safeway, we had to adapt our business overnight to provide a safe environment for our customers and employees. We know Providence faced and met an even greater challenge – rising to the call to care for the sickest in our communities. Our hearts and thoughts are with all the caregivers on the frontlines who give so much of themselves to others. We also know that supporting our communities this year is more important than ever. We are honored to serve as the title sponsor for the 2020 Safeway Providence Festival of Trees event series in Portland, southern Oregon and the north coast. This year’s festival in Southern Oregon benefits caregiver education and support. We are proud to continue our tradition of partnering with Providence for this community event. Safeway Providence Festival of Trees Home for the Holidays Welcome! It’s hard to imagine this time last year we were all gathered together celebrating the great work of Providence. We are so honored you have joined us from home, maybe in your comfy holiday pajamas and under a cozy blanket, to continue the community tradition and to kick off the Festival of Trees. This year has been like no other. The impact of COVID-19, the wildfires and the uncertainty of 2020 have deeply affected each of us. Throughout it all, we have remained strong as a community and come together to support those in need. We have seen acts of heroism from our neighbors, first responders and healthcare workers. Tonight, we raise our support to the caregivers of Providence who have braved it all through 2020. They have stepped up in tremendous ways to ensure our patients are safe while providing exceptional care. Through every change, every new protocol, while facing devastating wildfires and schools closing, they have stepped up to make sure our community is taken care of. We are so grateful to all our sponsors and talented designers who remained committed to the Mission of Providence and joined us in creating this year’s virtual Holiday’s at Home Gala. This year’s Festival is presented by the Safeway Foundation, who is committed to improving the lives in our neighborhoods. We are so grateful for all they do throughout Oregon to support Providence programs. During the planning process, it was important to us to continue the tradition of celebrating with our community, while also staying safe. In partnership with Rogue Disposal and Recycling Inc., we are happy to share that the trees are in window display this year at One West Main in Medford until Sunday December 6. New this year we are also partnering with KDRV on December 16th for a “Home for the Holidays” Festival of Trees special at 7:00 pm. Special Appeal SPECIAL APPEAL –Caregiver Support: No one could have predicted everything that has happened this year. First a pandemic then wildfires. Our community has been faced with severe challenges in 2020. Yet through it all, we have continued to look out for each other and care for each other. Throughout southern Oregon, our caregivers have persevered to continue to deliver excellent, compassionate care to our community, sometimes at great personal sacrifice. That is why our beneficiary for the 2020 Safeway | Providence Festival of Trees is our southern Oregon Providence caregivers. The wildfires displaced 170 of our employees with 27 who lost their homes. We are called to assist them in this time of need – so many of our caregivers are used to giving and not receiving. Your support will go to the following: • B.J. Stormberg Employee Assistance fund – also known as the Helping Hand fund, this helps caregivers with unexpected financial hardships. Named in honor of the first lay administrator of Providence Medford Medical Center, B.J. Stormberg who was passionate about the health and well-being of our caregivers. • Child care expenses - When COVID-19 hit and schools closed, our caregivers had to scramble for child care so they could continue to care for patients. Our Foundation partnered with the YMCA to help caregivers with much needed child care expenses. As schools remain closed, the need for this assistance has not diminished and we are committed to supporting our caregivers for as long as possible. • Nursing Education Funds - Our Foundation provides yearly scholarships and funding to employees studying for an undergraduate, graduate or professional certifications in nursing. Offering this support to our caregivers helps keep top talent in the Rogue Valley. • Wild Fire Support – for caregivers displaced by the fires, we provided short-term hotel stays and purchased RV’s to quickly provide a safe space for our caregivers. Your gift will help to support the continuing needs of our caregivers who lost their homes or who were displaced by the fires. In addition, your gift will help to support the future needs that are identified as areas of support for our caregivers impacted by the fires. Tree Viewing As we began planning for the virtual event, it was important to us that the community have an opportunity to enjoy the holiday spirit of Festival of Trees. We are grateful that, in partnership with Rogue Disposal and Recycling, Inc and One West Main, LLC trees will be on window display until Sunday, December 6 at the One West Main building. Community members can view at their leisure and enjoy the one of kind designs for free while maintaining distance.

Stock The purchases you make during the Festival of Trees may be purchased with gifts of stock, which allows the bidder to purchase items without depleting cash reserves. By giving stock directly to Providence Community Health Foundation, the bidder avoids capital gains taxes while generally still receiving full benefits of deductibility between the fair market value and the price paid for the items. The Safeway Providence Festival of Trees, Providence Health & Services and Providence Community Health Foundation make no representation as to tax deductibility. Please consult your tax advisor in this regard. The steps for transferring gifts of stock are simple. After the Auction 1. You will be contacted Thursday to confirm where to delivery of large tree or pick up of other items. At that time please notify the Foundation staff that you intend to purchase your auction items with stock. We will hold the credit card on file until the stock has been transferred and sold. 2. By the Monday following the auction, contact your financial advisor to discuss which stock(s) you would like to donate. Generally those most appreciated in price are the best candidates, especially if you consider them to have achieved full value and would otherwise consider selling them. 3. To begin transfer of stock, please contact D.A. Davidson at 541-608-4360. Providence Community Health Foundation will sell the stock immediately upon receipt and will send acknowledgment for the difference between the fair market value of your purchase(s) and the value of the stock. 4. The Resource Center provides support groups, trainings, specific care notebooks, educational books to borrow, assistance with school districts and so on. This year, Swindells has been able to continue and support families virtually. Your bid number becomes your method of contributing to our beneficiaries in the auctions, special appeal and raffle. At the end of the evening, you will be notified if you were the winning bidder by text or email. Credit cards are processed post event. If you would prefer to pay by check please call 541-732-5193 and let Foundation staff now. What if I don’t buy anything tonight? Your credit card will not be billed unless you win an auction item, make a purchase, or take part in our special appeal. When will I know what was charged to my credit card? A copy of your itemized receipt will be mailed to you within 14 business days at the address on file from your registration information. We also have the ability to email it to you. If you would like to update your address and preference, please inform the registration volunteers.

What if I buy a large tree? Foundation team members will give you a call Thursday, December 3 to discuss delivery details, day and weekend phone numbers, along with recognition preference for each item in the live auction

2020 Online Auction you purchase. Our team of volunteers will deliver full-size trees within Jackson County or the city of Grants Pass on Monday, Dec.7th. As a special courtesy to those who bought full-size trees, we can deliver silent auction items with your tree to the same delivery address. Each item will be delivered on a timely basis, barring any acts of God, inclement weather or inaccessible locations. Unfortunately, we are unable to commit to an exact delivery time. You are welcome to come collect your tree or parts of the display, if you prefer, Sunday evening or Monday morning, with advanced notice. Delivery of large trees precautions Our delivery team will follow CDC guidelines and wear masks during delivery. To help maintain social distancing and time spent in each home/business we will be dropping off the tree doing limited set up of the display. If you would prefer to pick up your large tree we will have items and tree ready by Sunday at 5:00 p.m. What if there are gift certificates or other small valuable items with my purchase? When you pick up your silent auction all certificates and items will be available to take with you. If you have purchased a large tree to be delivered to your home or business those items will be included during delivery. If you are gifting a tree and would like to keep any of the items included, let the Foundation staff member know when they call. How will I know if I won a silent auction item? In mobile bidding, you will receive notification through your phone/email. Mini-trees and wreaths: Because of the unique nature of Providence Festival of Trees, all trees, wreaths and displays remain at the event for viewing by the public until Sunday, Dec. 6th at 3:00pm. Under extreme circumstances, mini-trees and wreaths may be removed prior but must be approved by the Executive Director. Post-event pickup: Buyers are asked to pick up silent auction items at One West Main Sunday, Dec. 6th, between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. or Monday, Dec.7th between 9a.m. and 1p.m.. Please provide proof of purchase or identification to collect your items. If you do not collect your items by close on Monday, they will be transported to the Foundation office for you to collect later that week.
